FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Someone is looking for the otter among the ferns, someone else is already placing the peregrine falcon on the cliffs. In the end, what matters is who knew how to read the clearing at the right time.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Southern England continues to tell its story through forests, moors, and cliffs
A few kilometers from Dartmoor lies Exmoor National Park, where heather moors and grasslands meet coastal cliffs and ancient human traces. Kosch returns to explore the fauna and flora of southern England with this first official expansion for Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor, illustrated by Toni Llobet and Judit Piella. Fifty-five new cards celebrate unique species of this less known but equally fascinating natural park.
The new species integrate perfectly into the base game, bringing with them a new mechanic: instead of playing cards from your hand for free, some species allow you to rummage through the clearing. If you don't find what you're looking for, you can try your luck by revealing cards from the deck. Five new asymmetrical caves complete the arsenal, adding strategic variety and more intricate placement tactics.
What they say abroad

Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor – Exmoor
What you find in the clearing
Fifty-five new cards and five asymmetrical caves
Exmoor Species
Peregrine falcons, otters, wild horses, and endemic plants. Each card brings abilities that reward those who can build vertical or horizontal combos in their forest.
Rummage Mechanic
Some species allow you to rummage through the clearing instead of drawing from your hand. If you don't find anything, you reveal cards from the deck: it's a risk, but it can unlock plays otherwise impossible.
Asymmetrical Caves
Five new caves, each with different bonuses. They modify placement strategies and offer alternative points compared to classic tree cards.
GreenLine
Like the entire Forest Shuffle line, 100% eco-friendly product: FSC paper, vegetable inks, zero plastic. Nature on the table, and beyond.
In an hour, you will have built a forest that didn't exist before. And it will be different from anyone else's at the table.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The clearing fills up
The first cards are turned, the clearing takes shape. Everyone watches what's there, what's missing, what they'd like. Someone draws trees, someone else waits for the perfect card to rummage. The silence is still contemplative.
Someone rummages
The first rummage mechanic comes into play: someone discards a card to rummage in the clearing, finds nothing, and reveals three cards from the deck. The otter they needed appears. Others curse their luck. Or envy their courage.
The forests take shape
Mid-game: everyone has their own ecosystem growing vertically or horizontally. Asymmetrical caves make a difference, and those who focused on the right combos start to see them pay off. Those who timed it wrong try to recover.
The clearing empties
Good cards are scarce. Someone tries one last desperate rummage, reveals from the deck, and draws exactly what was needed to complete the combo. The others laugh, but in the meantime, he has won three points that weren't there.
End of game and scoring
Trees, species, caves, asymmetrical bonuses are counted. Someone had silently built a devastating combo that no one had noticed. They win by two points. Someone else immediately asks for a rematch.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Three simple actions that repeat until the deck runs out. The complexity lies in the choices, not the rules.
You can draw from the clearing or from the face-down deck. Each card drawn changes everyone's options: what you leave face-up becomes available to others.
You place a tree, add a species to your forest, or use an asymmetrical cave. You pay by discarding other cards from your hand, or you use abilities that allow you to play for free.
Some new species allow you to rummage: you look at the clearing, and if there's nothing you need, you can reveal cards from the deck. It's a risk, but it can unlock plays that would otherwise be impossible.
Pass to the next player. The game moves quickly: there are no complex phases, no waiting. Everyone always watches the clearing, because everything can change in one turn.
Why it's different from others
Six elements that make the difference
Innovative rummage mechanic
For the first time in Forest Shuffle, you can rummage in the clearing and then reveal from the deck if you don't find what you need. It's a calculated risk that adds tension without overcomplicating. You decide when to risk, and when to settle.
Asymmetrical caves
Five new caves, each with unique bonuses: some reward those who build vertically, others those who diversify species. They modify basic strategies and offer alternative points compared to classic trees.
Exmoor fauna and flora
These are not generic cards: they celebrate real species from the national park, from otters to peregrine falcons, from wild horses to coastal plants. Each card has accurate botanical illustrations and descriptive texts in the appendix.
Full compatibility with Dartmoor
Exmoor integrates seamlessly into the base game without the need for additional rules. You can mix all cards or use only some expansions. Total modularity, no obligations.
GreenLine: zero environmental impact
Like all Lookout GreenLine titles, produced with FSC certified paper, vegetable inks, no plastic. The environmental theme is not just a game mechanic: it's a concrete commitment.
Scalability 2-5 players
It works equally well with two (more control, less chaos) or five (more unpredictability, diverging strategies). The clearing adapts to the number of players without imbalances or dead time.
How it ends
How to win
Points are counted at the end of the game. There is no elimination: the player who has built the richest and most articulated ecosystem wins.
Victory
- Maximize points from tree cards and species placed in your forest
- Utilize asymmetrical caves and end-game bonuses from new Exmoor cards
- Build vertical or horizontal combos that trigger chain abilities and multiply points
How to lose
- Rummaging too much and drawing poorly: the risk of the rummage mechanic can make you waste valuable turns
- Ignoring asymmetrical caves and leaving points on the table for others to collect
- Building an incoherent forest without synergies between species: every card must interact with others, otherwise it's just cardboard
Exmoor is not just an expansion: it's an invitation to explore new strategies in an ecosystem you thought you already knew.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor – Exmoor
Is Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor required to play Exmoor?
Yes, Exmoor is an expansion: it is not standalone. The Dartmoor base game is needed to play. Exmoor cards mix with Dartmoor cards without the need for additional rules, or you can use them selectively to modulate difficulty and variety.
Does the rummage mechanic complicate the game?
No, it's explained in 30 seconds: instead of playing a card from your hand for free, you rummage in the clearing. If you don't find anything, you reveal a certain number of cards from the deck and choose. It's a calculated risk, not a complex system. The game flow remains identical.
Are asymmetrical caves mandatory?
No, you can use all of them, only some, or none. Modularity is total: Exmoor adapts to the level of complexity you want. If you're new to the game, ignore the caves and focus on the new species. If you're looking for variety, mix everything.
How many games does it take to get value from the expansion?
It depends on how much you play Forest Shuffle. If you play 3-4 games a month, Exmoor gives you variety for at least 6-8 months before combos become predictable. If you play occasionally, it can last for years. Replayability is very high.
Is this edition in Italian?
Yes, this is the Italian edition managed by Asmodee. Cards, rules, and species texts are all translated. The illustrations are identical to the international edition, but the language is Italian.
