This is the full-box expansion (not standalone: the base game is required) that takes the original feel and brings it to a richer, more variable, and more adventurous map, without losing the pace of a strategic board game that plays easily in 30–60 minutes.
At the heart of the expansion are four entirely new regions , each with its own distinct personality: you can herd cattle in the hills, pan for gold along the river, race along the railroad tracks , or plant your flag in New Town . And as always with Fliptown, the fun isn't in "doing a bit of everything"... it's in choosing one route and making it work, while the rest of the West tempts you with alternative opportunities.
The most wicked (and funniest) new feature is a resource called Hard Luck : bad luck isn't just a nuisance here, it's an element to be managed, exploited, and transformed. Plus, there are twists that change the way you get value from your choices, like Ricochet Bonuses , and a new type of bot called Sidekicks that adds more character and more pressure, especially when playing alone. Oh, and yes: lots of cows and chickens . Because in the West, glory is also very… agricultural.
And then there's the wow factor for those who love options: you can play using only the new board in Single-Barrel mode, or combine the base board and the expansion board in Double-Barrel mode for a bigger, more fleshed-out experience with even more room for combos and long plans. It works great as a solo board game , but also comes into its own with 1–4 players when you want a richer West.
