🐸 HOW TO PLAY
1. Run a publishing house during the golden age of comics.
In this strategic and thematic board game , each player controls a publishing house during the period 1938–1954. Each round, you place four publishers (meeples) on six available spaces, choosing between hiring, development, ideas, printing, sales, and royalties . Each action allows you to expand your publishing empire in a different way.
2. Develop your creative team: writers and designers.
To create a comic, you'll need to hire an author and an artist , each with a value from 1 to 3. Adding their values together will give you the comic's creative power , which is crucial for commercial success. Building the right combination is essential to mastering the sales map.
3. Print comics and build your catalog.
Printing a comic requires money + two identical idea tokens , and allows you to place the cover visible with the creative team hidden underneath . The published comic becomes part of your catalog and can generate revenue, fans, and new distribution opportunities.
4. Gain fans and climb the industry rankings.
Each published comic generates fans , tracked on a dedicated leaderboard. At the end of the round, players receive victory points based on the number of fans they've accumulated. Interaction on the map and managing sales priorities keep the game tense and engaging until the final round.
5. After five rounds, only one editor will be a legend.
At the end of the fifth editorial era, the remaining fans are transformed into victory points , which are added to those already earned. The player with the most stars wins. Age of Comics: The Golden Years is a strategic, thematic board game for 1-4 players with worker placement and resource management mechanics.
Each player leads a publishing house in post-war New York, trying to publish successful comics and earn the adoration of fans.
The core of the gameplay lies in the selection of actions: hiring authors and artists, developing ideas, printing issues, and managing sales. Each published issue requires a cover, a creative team, and the right resources: the higher the quality, the higher the earnings and notoriety.
