FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Every resource comes from another. Every move is a calculation. And Mars doesn't forgive those who get the order wrong.
What it's about
Build the first self-sufficient colony on the red planet
In 2037, the first colonists land on Mars. You are the lead astronaut of a private company: your task is to transform a fragile outpost into the largest self-sufficient colony on the planet, completing the objectives of D.O.M.E. and your secret agenda.
On Mars is the strategic behemoth by Vital Lacerda, illustrated by Ian O'Toole and published by Eagle-Gryphon Games. A heavy euro where every building depends on another: shelters require oxygen, oxygen requires plants, plants water, water energy, energy minerals, minerals colonists.
You play on two fronts — orbit and surface — separated by a shuttle that forces you to choose where to be. You pick up blueprints, develop technologies, build with bots, explore with the rover. The player who contributes most to the colony by accumulating Opportunity Points wins. The game ends when three missions are completed.
What they say abroad
"This is pure strategy at its finest."
Pure strategy at its finest.
— Meeple Mountain
Your brain keeps smoking thirty minutes after you've stopped playing — and you can't wait to put everything back on the table.
From the gaming experience
On Mars
The official solo mode uses an automa that occupies action spaces and sets the pace: a cerebral challenge very close to multiplayer, not a compromise.
What you control
Your colonization tools
Your bots
They build the colony's buildings. You can only place next to a bot, so each of their movements is already a decision.
Orbit and shuttles
In orbit you pick up blueprints, technologies, and supplies. Shuttles take you back and forth — and timing is everything.
Scientists and technologies
You recruit scientists and develop a tech tree that enhances buildings and unlocks valuable executive actions.
The rover
Explore the Martian surface in search of crystals, discovery tiles, and bonuses: the raw material to do more each turn.
When the colony breathes on its own, you realize that every cog you put in place served exactly that purpose. On Mars is not played. It is built.

COMPLEX SYSTEMS
EXTREME ENGINEERING
Every resource is life, every turn is survival
This isn't just about accumulating points, but about building a meaningful economic engine. You need to mine to build, build to house colonists, and use colonists to conduct research. It's a fragile ecosystem where everything depends on everything else.
The tension is constant: expanding the base increases maintenance costs, but staying small means you don't have the infrastructure to complete ground contracts. You have to take risks, pushing your vital systems to the limit before the shuttle can take off again.
The final satisfaction, looking at the dashboard full of interconnected modules, rovers, and unlocked technologies, is unparalleled. You've created order from the red chaos.
Where it rewards you
Chaining an executive action with enhanced technology makes you feel like a logistical genius.
Raising life support levels unlocks cascading bonuses for all players.
Building advanced, self-sustaining residential complexes is pure satisfaction.
Be the first to take that project everyone wanted and see it work in your home base.
Meet Earth's demands by sending shuttles loaded with precious resources.
Collect rare crystals to enhance your actions and overcome standard limits.
Where it tests you
In this management board game, the main challenge is the circular dependence of resources, which requires long-term planning. You'll need to master worker placement and territory control mechanics typical of the best modern sci-fi titles. Time and space management make each game a test of intense strategic skill.
