FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Your town grows tile by tile, wheelbarrow by wheelbarrow. And in the end, no one talks about who won — they talk about how beautiful it was.
What it's about
A farm to build, a village to make flourish
Your settlers have just arrived in a promising land. Around them, only raw resources and possibilities. Foxglove Farm — the sequel to Alley Cat Games' successful Timber Town — asks you to transform all of this into something beautiful and prosperous.
The game unfolds over 4 rounds with predominantly simultaneous actions: build buildings, produce resources, lay paths, and manage a network of wheelbarrows that connects everything. Every building produces something. Every resource needs to go somewhere. And with limited resources, every choice matters.
There's no chaos, no elimination, no battleground. There's only your town taking shape — and that of others, growing elegantly alongside yours.
The secret of Foxglove Farm is the network: every building you construct changes the value of those around it. Planning paths is like composing a song — each note depends on the one before it.
The secret of Foxglove Farm in one sentence
Rarely does a game manage to be both relaxing and deeply strategic. Foxglove Farm succeeds thanks to simultaneous actions: everyone plays, no one waits, the tension builds silently.
From the gaming experience
Foxglove Farm
The solo mode works very well: simultaneous actions become a personal optimization puzzle. A great way to learn the game before challenging other players.
What you manage in each game
Your builder's arsenal
Buildings to construct
Every building produces resources or generates points. Position matters: the right neighbors multiply the value of everything you build.
Paths to lay
Resources don't teleport. They must travel along the paths you've built — and building them in the wrong place is costly.
Wheelbarrow network
The heart of the game. Every correctly connected wheelbarrow is an extra point at the end of the round. Optimizing the network is the main challenge.
Resources to manage
Wood, stone, crops — never enough for everything. Each round, you choose where to focus. Unused resources are lost points.
In a few hours, you'll have built something to be proud of. It always happens with Foxglove Farm.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The land is blank, anything is possible
Tiles are arranged, resources counted. Each player looks at their empty space and already sees a city. Some think about paths, others want productive buildings right away. No one knows yet that the plan will change by the second turn.
The first tiles change everything
Actions are simultaneous — everyone plays together, no waiting. Your farm takes shape quickly, but so do others'. Someone places a building in the spot you chose. They don't attack it. They make it seem more important than it is. And you recalculate everything.
The wheelbarrow that never arrives
You built the mill, the granary is full of wheat. A piece of path is missing. Just one piece. There aren't enough resources to build it this round. The wheat stays there, useless. Everyone laughs. They promise not to make the same mistake again. They will.
The network closes and points arrive
Finally the path is complete. The wheelbarrows start rolling. Resources flow from one building to another exactly as you imagined three rounds ago. It's pure satisfaction — that moment when a complex plan works exactly as intended.
Points are counted, the city is admired
The game ends. Someone wins, but before looking at the scores, everyone takes a tour to look at each other's cities. Some built a compact and efficient farm, others focused on long paths, some filled every space. No two are alike. Each one is a story.
How to play
The flow of each round
Four phases repeated for four rounds. Simultaneous, fast, no waiting.
From the common pool, each player chooses building and path tiles to add to their city. The choice is simultaneous: you don't wait for others, but available tiles decrease.
You place tiles in your city space. Buildings go into lots, paths connect points. Position matters: each adjacency can generate bonuses or penalties.
Buildings produce resources. Wheelbarrows transport them along constructed paths. Only resources that reach their destination generate points — blocked ones are worthless.
Points are counted for the round: completed buildings, active wheelbarrow networks, fulfilled objectives. After four rounds, everything is summed up. The player with the most valuable city wins.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Simultaneous actions, zero downtime
Everyone plays at the same time. No waiting for others' turns. The game flows quickly even with four players, and tension remains high as everyone makes decisions together.
The wheelbarrow network as a puzzle
It's not enough to build — you need to connect. Every resource must travel. Designing an efficient network is the true strategic heart of the game, and no two networks are the same in different games.
Cozy theme, real depth
The aesthetic is inviting, but the decisions are far from trivial. Foxglove Farm achieves the difficult feat of appearing simple and revealing complexity only to those who seek it.
Buildings with chain reactions
Each building interacts with its neighbors. Building in the right spot can multiply the value of everything you already have. Building in the wrong spot can block half your network.
Variable objectives each game
Scoring objectives change with each game. The same strategy doesn't always work — you have to adapt. This ensures high replayability without adding regulatory complexity.
Sequel that improves on the original
Timber Town was for 2 players with a river drafting mechanic. Foxglove Farm expands the system to up to 4 players with a richer logistical network. Those who loved the first will find something familiar — and much that is new.
How it ends
Winning at Foxglove Farm
No one is eliminated. You build, you optimize, you count. The most valuable city wins — but usually all cities are beautiful.
Victory
- Accumulate the most victory points after 4 rounds
- Points from constructed buildings, active wheelbarrow networks, and fulfilled objectives
- The most optimized and best-connected city wins
How to lose
- Resources produced but not transported — blocked wheelbarrows, lost points
- Paths built in the wrong place that cut off half the city
- Neglecting variable game objectives in favor of pure construction
Foxglove Farm is the cozy game you didn't know you wanted: relaxing in aesthetic, challenging in decisions. Perfect for those who love building something beautiful together — or against others.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Foxglove Farm
Is it really strategic, or is it just a pretty game to look at?
Both, and that's precisely the strong point. The cozy aesthetic is genuine, but behind it are real decisions: which building to construct, where to draw paths, how to optimize the wheelbarrow network with limited resources. Those who just want a visual experience will find it. Those who want strategic depth will find it too, in the same game.
Do I need to have played Timber Town to enjoy this?
No. Foxglove Farm is standalone and can be played without any knowledge of its predecessor. Timber Town is a 2-player game with a river drafting mechanic — Foxglove Farm is a different, richer experience for up to 4 players. Those familiar with Timber Town will recognize the style and some elements, but it's not necessary to have played it.
How does the solo mode work?
The solo mode is official and works well: without other players, the game becomes an optimization puzzle against oneself. The goal is to maximize points with available tiles, managing the wheelbarrow network as efficiently as possible. A great way to learn the game before facing other players.
With how many players does it work best?
With 3 or 4 players, the experience is richer: available tiles decrease faster, decisions are more pressing, and resource competition is more interesting. With 2, it's more controlled and tactical. In solo, it's a relaxing puzzle. All configurations work, but with 3-4, you experience the tension the game can create best.
Is it suitable for casual players?
Yes. The rules are explained in minutes, and the visual theme helps in memorizing them. Simultaneous actions eliminate downtime that discourages occasional players. It's one of the most accessible games in the Alley Cat Games line — perfect as a gateway for those new to modern board games.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. Foxglove Farm is a game with very limited text on the tiles — most information is communicated through visual icons. The language barrier is minimal, but please note that any objective cards or rules are in English.
Foxglove Farm is a cozy tile-laying board game for 1–4 players (ages 10+, 45–75 min). Published by Alley Cat Games. Core mechanics: tile placement with resource management and network building.
