FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
The galaxy you knew is gone. New leaders, new maps, new game rules.
What it's about
Three systems that change everything you knew about Arcs
Cole Wehrle and Leder Games are not content with just adding content — they transform the game. Arcs: Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders introduces three independent modules designed to work together: new leaders with more immediate and impactful powers, Lost Vaults with event dice that reshape the map each game, and the long-awaited fifth player.
The expansion integrates into the base game with an advanced draft mode: choose which modules to include, which to combine, how much you want to push towards the unpredictable. It's not a single block to enable or disable — it's a toolbox that makes every game a unique configuration.
Fated Leaders bring abilities partly taken from the campaign mode — relatively simple powers but with profound effects on the game's flow. Lost Vaults add special systems to the map that change the rules of the territory. The fifth player introduces a new type of action card with drafting that balances the added chaos.
The expansion in two lines
Arcs base is already a game that redefines its genre. Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders brings that same design philosophy — every system has a purpose — to a level of variability where no two games will ever be the same.
The secret of Lost Vaults in one line
It's not an expansion that adds pieces. It's an expansion that adds questions — and leaves you with more answers than you had before opening the box.
From design observation
Arcs: Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders
What the expansion adds
Three modules, one new galaxy
Each module is independent and can be integrated separately. The advanced draft mode allows you to choose what to use game by game.
Fated Leaders
8 leaders with more immediate powers compared to the base game — simple but impactful abilities partly taken from the campaign. Leader choice changes your play style right at setup.
Lost Vaults
Special elements to add to the map with event dice. Each game generates a different configuration — special systems that change the rules of the territory and create situations impossible to anticipate.
31 new cards
A new court deck with 31 cards that integrates with the base game. More options during drafting, more variability in building your tableau each game.
Fifth player
Support for a 5th player was planned in the design but not included in the base game due to time constraints. The expansion introduces it with a new type of action card with drafting to balance the added chaos.
Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders is not a standalone game. To play, you must own Arcs: Conflict & Collapse in the Reach by Leder Games.
The Arcs galaxy was already unpredictable. With Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders, you don't even know where to start again.

How the game changes
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The moments that change everything.
The draft that redefines who you are
Before you even place a ship, choose your Fated Leader. It's not a cosmetic choice — it's a declaration of intent. A leader who introduces a system others haven't seen yet. The table changes already at this stage.
The map no one expected
Event dice are rolled. Lost Vaults are revealed — special systems with their own rules appear on the map. What seemed like a familiar setup now has unknown corners. Strategies prepared before sitting at the table are already obsolete.
The fifth player enters the game
With five players around the table, the political dynamic becomes denser. Alliances become more fragile, ambitions harder to read. New action decks with drafting keep everything in balance — or at least they try.
The moment the leader makes a difference
Mid-game, someone uses their Fated Leader at exactly the right moment. An ability no one had considered in the planning phase changes control of a key system. It's not luck — it's the depth of design manifesting itself.
Endgame: the galaxy is different from how it began
Ambitions are recounted. Someone wins. But what remains at the table is the awareness that you had never seen this galaxy before — and that the next one will be completely different again. Everything is put away already thinking about the next configuration.
How it integrates
The expansion modules in four steps
The expansion doesn't replace — it overlays. Each module has its own rules that fit into the basic game flow without distorting it.
Before the game, the group decides which modules to activate: only Fated Leaders, only Lost Vaults, both, with or without a fifth player. The advanced draft mode guides the configuration.
In reverse setup order, players draft their Fated Leader. Event dice are then rolled to determine which Lost Vaults and special systems appear on the map.
The game flow is identical to the base game — cards, actions, ambitions, battles. But Fated Leaders and Lost Vault systems add new layers of decision-making and modify the conditions of the territory.
As in the base game, the game ends upon completion of the chapters. There are no permanent consequences — each game is a galaxy unto itself, configured differently from the previous one.
Why this expansion is different
Six reasons to add it to Arcs
Leaders with immediate impact
Fated Leaders are designed to be simple to understand but profound in their consequences. Unlike base leaders, they act more directly — their influence is visible from the very first moves.
Maps that never repeat
Lost Vaults event dice generate semi-random map configurations. No two galaxies are alike — special systems change position, relevance, and rules with each game.
Fifth player finally available
Cole Wehrle always thought Arcs could be played with five. The design couldn't include it in the base game for development reasons. Here it comes — with dedicated action cards to maintain balance.
31 new cards in the court deck
The court deck expands significantly. More market options, more variability in tableaux, more ways to build your strategy from the first turns.
Total modularity
It's not a monolithic package — each component can be enabled or disabled independently. The advanced draft mode allows you to build the experience you want, game by game.
Systems from the campaign in the base game
Fated Leaders introduce mechanics partly taken from The Blighted Reach — Arcs' campaign mode. A way to approach those complexities without jumping directly into the full campaign.
What it concretely adds
Two central systems, one modular expansion
You don't win or lose differently — you play differently. The expansion doesn't change the structure of ambitions, it changes the territory in which they are fought.
Fated Leaders
- 8 leaders with simpler, more direct abilities than in the base game
- Powers that introduce mechanics taken from the campaign
- Drafted during setup — the choice is made before the game even begins
- New court deck with 31 additional cards
Lost Vaults
- Special map elements with their own rules
- Event dice for semi-random placement in each game
- Special systems that modify the rules of the territory
- Fifth player support with new action cards featuring drafting
Arcs: Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders is the expansion for those who want more variability, more leaders, more galaxies. Each configuration is a new game.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders
How many games are needed with the base game before adding this expansion?
There's no fixed number, but Leder Games recommends being already familiar with the basic mechanics of Arcs — card system, ambitions, battles. The expansion adds layers, it doesn't replace fundamentals. Those who have already played 3-5 base games will be in the right place to integrate it without feeling overwhelmed.
Are Fated Leaders stronger than those already in the base game?
Not stronger — different. Cole Wehrle describes them as "simpler but more impactful" compared to existing leaders. They have more immediate powers to activate and understand, but with profound consequences on the course of the game. It's a different design philosophy, not a power scale.
Does the fifth player make the game unbalanced?
The design includes a new type of action card with specific drafting to balance the added chaos of the fifth player. Wehrle stated that these new decks "more than compensate for the chaos of the added player" — and that they might be so effective that it's worth testing them even in four-player games.
Can you play with only some modules and not others?
Yes, and this is one of the central features of the expansion. The advanced draft mode was designed precisely to allow choosing what to include game by game — only Fated Leaders, only Lost Vaults, both, with or without a fifth player. No obligation to use everything together.
Is it compatible with The Blighted Reach?
Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders is designed for the base game — it does not introduce official support for the Blighted Reach campaign. The other two expansions of the campaign Beyond the Reach and Halls of Power are instead specifically geared towards campaign mode. Each expansion has its own area of application.
Is the expansion available in Italian?
This is the English edition. Like the base Arcs game, the text on the components is in English. Understanding the rules requires reading in English, while many of the in-game mechanics are supported by symbols and visual structure. An Italian edition is not currently available.
Arcs: Lost Vaults & Fated Leaders is an expansion for Cole Wehrle's board game Arcs, published by Leder Games. It introduces three independent modules: 8 Fated Leaders with impactful abilities, the Lost Vaults system with event dice for semi-random maps, and support for the fifth player. It includes 31 new cards for the court deck and an advanced draft mode. Compatible with the base Arcs game (2–4 players, 60–120 min, ages 14+) which becomes playable up to 5 with this expansion. Trick-taking adjacent mechanic with action selection, area control, variable player powers. Kyle Ferrin illustrations. English edition. Available on FroGames.it.
