FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Someone rolls the dice. Someone curses. Someone realizes the card they were holding no longer does what it did three seconds ago. And in the end, no one remembers who won, only who laughed the most.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
A die that rewrites the rules as you play
Heroes of Barcadia: Die of Barcane Chaos is an expansion for Heroes of Barcadia designed by Madison O'Neil and published by Rollacrit in 2025. It comes from the crazy idea of taking an already unpredictable dungeon crawl and multiplying its chaos by ten. The Barcane Chaos Die is not a component. It's a professional disruptor.
Every time you roll it, it changes how Power-Up cards work. You don't add rules: you replace them. A card that gave you +2 movement now makes you spin around. A defensive ability becomes a random attack against someone nearby. The die decides, the Chaos Scroll decodes, and you try to remember what you were doing before the table metaphorically caught fire.
What they say abroad
You don't sell games. You sell the memory of that time the die blew up someone's perfect plan.

Heroes of Barcadia: Die of Barcane Chaos
What's inside
The tools of chaos
Die of Barcane Chaos
Six faces, six ways to mess up everyone's plans. Each result rewrites how the base game's Power-Up Cards work.
Chaos Scroll
A 15" × 8.5" fabric scroll that decodes the die's effects. Unroll it on the table and look at it like an oracle laughing at you.
Barcadian Effects
Each face of the die activates a thematic effect: flip abilities, swap powers, double damage, reverse defenses. The Chaos Scroll tells you what happens.
Alcoholic Unpredictability
Designed for evenings where someone has already had too much to drink and the idea of stable rules seems boring. It's a drinking game disguised as an expansion.
In a few hours, someone will have a story about that time the die turned the best card of the game into a self-harming boomerang. It always happens with this die.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The die enters the scene
Someone suggests adding the die. Everyone nods, oblivious. The Chaos Scroll is unrolled on the table like a battle map no one understands yet. For the first few minutes, it seems harmless.
The first roll of chaos
Someone rolls the die. Everyone looks at the result, then the Chaos Scroll, then at each other. The Power-Up Cards no longer do what they used to. Someone asks if it's a joke. It's not.
Confusion becomes the norm
Mid-game, no one remembers the original rules anymore. The die is rolled again. A defensive ability becomes an attack. Whoever planned three turns ahead curses under their breath. The others laugh.
The legendary moment
Someone almost won. Then the die flips everything around. The card that was supposed to save them eliminates them instead. The table erupts in laughter. Someone drinks. No one is sure what's happening anymore, but everyone is having fun.
Game over (maybe)
Someone technically wins, but no one remembers how. The conversation isn't about who won, but about that die roll on turn four that caused that absurd thing to happen. Someone suggests replaying. Someone says no. They'll do it anyway.
How to play
The flow of each round
The die doesn't replace Heroes of Barcadia: it contaminates it. Here's how it works.
Follow the standard rules of Heroes of Barcadia: movement, combat, Power-Up Cards. All normal, for now.
At predetermined moments (or when someone decides it's time), roll the Die of Barcane Chaos. The result changes the rules for the rest of the round.
Each side of the die corresponds to an effect on the Chaos Scroll. Read the effect aloud. The Power-Up Cards now work differently.
The card you thought you'd use now does something completely different. Improvise. Laugh. Curse. Keep playing until the next roll.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Mutating rules
It doesn't add rules: it replaces them. Each die roll rewrites how Power-Up Cards work. What you knew two turns ago is no longer valid. It's a game that changes before your eyes.
Physical Chaos Scroll
It's not a leaflet: it's a 15" × 8.5" fabric scroll to unroll on the table. Scenic, thematic, and large enough to be consulted by everyone without getting up. It's a decorative piece.
Thematic Barcadian effects
Each side of the die has a narrative effect consistent with the fantasy tavern setting. They are not just numbers: they are events from stumbling drunks who suddenly become heroes (or fail miserably).
Integrated drinking game
The game is rated 21+ for a reason. The die effects are designed for evenings where someone has already had enough to drink to find the idea of unstable rules entertaining. Drinking is not mandatory, but it helps.
Scalability 2-8 players
Chaos works with two people and becomes pure anarchy with eight. More players = more Power-Up Cards in play = more ways for the die to ruin someone's plans. The large table becomes a ring.
Compatible with any game
It requires no special setup. Grab the die, unroll the Scroll, roll. It works with any scenario of the base game. It's a plug-and-play expansion for when a normal evening isn't enough.
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The die doesn't change the victory conditions of the base game. It changes how you get there.
Victory
- Complete dungeon objectives before others (or survive long enough to be the last one standing)
- Accumulate enough points/treasures according to the rules of the scenario you are playing
- Adapt to the die effects better than your opponents: whoever improvises best wins
Elimination
- You are eliminated from the dungeon according to the standard rules of Heroes of Barcadia
- A Power-Up Card you thought would save you kills you instead, thanks to the die
- You laugh so much you can't play anymore (technically not elimination, but it happens)
Heroes of Barcadia: Die of Barcane Chaos is not for those seeking balance. It's for those who want to see strategy burn in a bonfire of alcoholic unpredictability. The die rolls. You laugh. The End.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Heroes of Barcadia: Die of Barcane Chaos
Can I play without the base game?
No. This is an expansion for Heroes of Barcadia, sold separately. The die modifies the Power-Up Cards of the base game, so without it, you have nothing to modify. It's like buying a disruptor for a game you don't own.
Does the die ruin the game's balance?
Yes. That's its job. Heroes of Barcadia: Die of Barcane Chaos is not designed for balanced games. It's designed for evenings where chaos is the goal. If you're looking for pure strategy, this expansion is not for you. If you're looking for laughs, it's perfect.
Does it work with two players or do you need a group?
It also works with two, but maximum chaos comes with 4-8 players. More people = more Power-Up Cards in play = more ways for the die to create absurd situations. With two, it's tactical-chaotic. With eight, it's anarchy.
How big is the Chaos Scroll?
15" × 8.5" inches (approx. 38 × 21 cm). It's a fabric scroll, not paper. Large enough to sit in the center of the table and be read by everyone without having to stand up. It's scenic and practical.
Is it available in Italian?
No. This edition of Heroes of Barcadia: Die of Barcane Chaos is in English. The Chaos Scroll contains text in English. If your group does not read English fluently, the expansion will require on-the-fly translations (or someone to read for everyone).
