🐸 HOW TO PLAY
1. Each player leads a faction with a unique deck
At the start of the game, you choose a faction, each with its own style and default deck of cards. Each deck is built around a leader with a special ability that can be used once per game.
2. The game takes place over three rounds… but you only have to win two of them
Gwent is played over a maximum of three rounds, but winning two of them is enough to win the game. Each round is a battle of all-out strength, and managing your resources across the rounds is the key to victory.
3. Place the cards in two rows: shuffle and ranged
Each creature must be played on one of the two rows on your side of the field. Some cards have effects that depend on the row they're in, others interact with enemy cards.
4. Each card has a power value and/or a special ability
Cards can simply contribute points, or activate abilities like damaging, buffing, moving, healing, summoning, or generating effects over multiple turns. Tactical interaction is key.
5. The winner is the one who plays with cunning, bluffs and manages the cards well.
You can also pass your turn and save cards for later rounds, but you risk your opponent outmatching you. The real heart of Gwent is time management, bluffing, and card economy.
