The FroGames Card
You have four explorer worker ants. You send three to dig, and one larva starves. You send two, and you don't complete the task. Eventually, you realize: every ant counts, every turn is a trade-off.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
A colony to build tunnel by tunnel
Renato Ciervo and Andrea Robbiani have signed a deep management game that doesn't talk about castles or spaceships, but about ants. The garden is a hexagonal map to explore, the anthill a puzzle of rooms to fit together, the colony a system of three vital phases (eggs, larvae, ants) that must work in unison. Art by Candida Corsi and Sara Valentino brings the microcosm to a human scale: every ant, every crumb, every dewdrop has visual weight.
On your turn, you spend specialized ants to activate one of six main actions: digging new rooms in the nest, exploring uncharted territories that hide enemies and resources, placing gatherers to create supply chains, incubating to advance the life cycle, playing cards, or defeating opponents. The number of ants you invest (1 to 4) determines the power of the action. Diggers, explorers, gatherers: each caste has a role, and joker ants save the day when the right specialization is missing. Victory comes from different paths: nest architecture, territorial control, population growth, tactical conquests.
What they're saying abroad
"ANTS is a deep strategy game that focuses on worker management and territorial expansion."
— Cranio Creations
This is the first title by Ciervo and Robbiani to hit the international market. The mechanical premises are ambitious: asymmetrical queens, tight timing, no margin for error.

The colony's components
Four components that define the game
Queen Tile
Each colony starts with a unique queen. This isn't just a bonus: it changes which actions to prioritize, which tasks to complete first, which victory path to pursue. Some queens favor territorial control, others architecture, others population growth.
Specialized Ants
Diggers, explorers, gatherers. Spend 1 to 4 ants of the same caste to activate an action: the more you use, the stronger the effect. Joker ants replace any caste but are rare. Managing them is the core of the game.
Hexagonal Map
The garden is a hex grid to explore. Each tile hides resources, enemies, collection points. Gatherers form chains: if continuously connected, they activate automatic effects when a tile runs out and releases pheromones.
Incubation Board
Three phases (eggs, larvae, ants) and three specializations per phase. When you incubate, you complete tasks for bonuses, produce resources, feed larvae with food cubes, and advance the cycle. If the cycle stalls, the colony suffocates.
