The FroGames Card
You have three bars that go down: hunger, sanity, health. You can refill one per turn, maybe two if you're lucky. Meanwhile, the forest fills with things you wouldn't want to meet — and this time you see them coming, standing on the table, one by one.
What is it
Klei's cult survival game, now on the table — with miniature monsters
Don't Starve was born in 2013 as a survival video game by Klei Entertainment: a hand-drawn world, beautiful and ruthless, where hunger, madness and nocturnal creatures give you no respite. Don't Starve: The Board Game is its new board game adventure, developed by Glass Cannon Unplugged together with Klei and designed by Rafał Pieczyński.
Guide Wilson, Willow, Wendy and Webber — from one to four survivors, cooperatively — through ever-different scenarios. You explore unknown tiles, gather resources, build weapons and tools, cook, and fight by rolling dice. But time is running out: every round Light, hunger and sanity take their toll, and if you don't pay, it's serious trouble. Every scenario tells you how to win; the world has many ways to make you lose.
This is the Deluxe Edition: the exact same game as the Standard, but with 42 plastic miniatures — the four survivors and 38 monsters of 13 different species. The rules don't change. What changes is what you see on the map when darkness falls.
The fire lit, the coming night and three bars that go down: everything else is deciding what to sacrifice.
The secret of Don't Starve in one line
With the miniatures, the monsters are no longer tokens: you see them approaching tile by tile, and no one at the table pretends not to notice.
What the Deluxe adds
Don't Starve: The Board Game
The game has a real official solo mode: you only need one survivor. The experience is complete and the tension holds up very well, but alone you lose the best part of the cooperative — the trades, the sacrifices, the "who do we save?".
In the Constant
Four systems that define survival
Three bars to keep alive
Health, hunger and sanity, on three quadrants. Hunger and sanity go down round after round; at zero hunger you lose health, and with low sanity the shadow creatures arrive. It's not enough for everything: choose what to refill.
A map to discover
Unknown tiles in four biomes — forests, prairies, arid lands and swamps. Every exploration reveals a Location card with resources, and often a monster that is not waiting with open arms.
Crafting under pressure
From resources to the Crafting Book: weapons, armor, tools, cooked food. Crafting and cooking are free actions, but items wear out and the backpack only has ten slots.
Day, night and weather
Daytime and nighttime rounds, and a weather card every turn. At night you need Light: for every point you lack you lose 5 health. No fire, no excuses.
Which one to choose
Standard or Deluxe: what really changes
Rules, decks, maps and scenarios are identical. Only how the survivors and monsters appear at the table changes.
Acrylic standees
The four survivors are acrylic standees. It's the complete game: same map, same rules, same tension.
42 plastic miniatures
Everything that is in the Standard, plus the miniatures of the four survivors and 38 monsters. The acrylic standees of the characters still remain in the box.
It's dark outside and you have three bars that go down. At least now the monsters have a face.
