FroGames — Moments to Remember
Some play with their brains. Some bend the rules. Some discover a combo and smile. And in the end, no one plays Lodge the same way again.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Behind every great lodge there's someone who knows its secrets
Lodge: Hospitality is an asymmetrical mini-expansion for Lodge, designed by Peter McPherson and illustrated by Leslie Herman. Published by PickPocket Games, it adds four unique roles to the base game: bellhop, housekeeper, concierge, architect. Each with powers that break the rules in different ways.
Choose your role and play the same game, but with a different engine. The bellhop moves guests, the housekeeper cleans and reorganizes, the concierge manipulates bonuses, the architect builds impossible paths. Every choice at the table becomes a game within a game: managing your asymmetry has become part of the puzzle.
What they say abroad
Every game of Lodge is a unique puzzle. With Hospitality, each player solves a different puzzle.
— FroGames
Asymmetry doesn't add complexity. It adds identity.

Lodge: Hospitality
Lodge's solo mode is already robust, and Hospitality enriches it with four puzzle variants. Choose a role, play against a score objective, and discover how each asymmetrical power changes your approach. The experience is complete, but you obviously lose visual interaction with others at the table.
The four roles
Who you are behind the counter
Bellhop
Move guests like pawns. Optimize paths and place people where they're needed, when they're needed. Your power is logistics.
Housekeeper
Clean, reorganize, remove what's in the way. You control the board: others build, you decide what stays up.
Concierge
Manipulate bonuses and rewards. See an advantage on the table? You can move it, duplicate it, change it. Your game is a chain of small strokes of genius.
Architect
Build impossible paths. Connect spaces that shouldn't be connected, create shortcuts, redesign the lodge. The board is clay in your hands.
After three games with different roles, you'll never go back to vanilla Lodge. It always happens with well-made asymmetries.
A five-moment game
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose who you are
Open the box, everyone picks a role. Read the powers. Someone laughs, someone is already thinking three moves ahead. The architect looks at the board like a blank sheet. The bellhop counts the spaces.
The first asymmetry
The first turn is hesitant. You play as always, but with an extra power. Then someone uses it, and the others stop: "Wait, you can do WHAT?" The table starts to realize that everyone is playing a different game.
Strategy diverges
Mid-game, the plans are clear. The architect has built a corridor that didn't exist. The housekeeper has cleared half the board. The concierge has accumulated multiplying bonuses. The bellhop is playing chess with the guests.
The perfect combo
Someone makes a move you wouldn't have thought possible. A power used at the right moment, a sequence of actions that fit together. The others nod. This is the moment you'll remember.
End of game
Count the points. The winner played their role better than the others. But the real question is another: "Next time I'll try the concierge." Because now you know what they can do, and you want to try it.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Hospitality doesn't change the structure of Lodge. It adds a unique layer of power for each player.
As in the base game. Choose a tile from the common grid and place it in your personal lodge.
This is where Hospitality comes in. You activate your role's power: move guests, remove tiles, manipulate bonuses, build paths. Each role has unique rules.
Complete paths, collect points, activate chains. Your power may have created opportunities that didn't exist before.
The next player repeats. Four players, four engines, only one lodge to optimize.
Why it's different from others
Six reasons why Hospitality works
Plug-and-play asymmetry
They don't revolutionize Lodge. They enrich it. Each role adds one extra rule, not ten. You learn the power in two minutes, you master it by playing.
Four unique puzzles
The bellhop optimizes logistics. The housekeeper performs strategic cleaning. The concierge plays dominoes with bonuses. The architect redesigns space. Same game, four different brains at work.
Horizontal balancing
No role dominates. Each shines at different times. The concierge accumulates slow advantage. The bellhop strikes precisely. The architect plans long-term. The housekeeper controls chaos.
Multiplied replayability
If the base Lodge gave you 10 different games, Hospitality gives you 40. Four roles for you, four for others, infinite combinations at the table. Each setup is a new balance to explore.
Solo compatible
Lodge's solo mode works great with the roles. Choose your favorite, challenge yourself, change every time. Asymmetry makes the puzzle deeper even alone.
Mini expansion, maxi impact
Few cards, four role boards, zero additional setup. It fits into the base box without problems. But it changes everything at the table. This is elegant design.
How it ends
How to win (and how to lose)
The victory conditions remain those of Lodge. But how you get there changes completely.
Victory
- Maximize your lodge points by leveraging asymmetric power better than others
- Complete impossible paths thanks to your role (architect) or optimize perfect logistics (bellhop)
- Accumulate cascading bonuses (concierge) or clean up strategic errors (housekeeper)
Defeat
- Ignore your unique power and play as if it were vanilla Lodge
- Use the role randomly, without planning how to maximize it
- Others understand their asymmetric engine before you do
Hospitality is for those who played Lodge and thought: "I like it, but I want more depth." Here it is. Four unique engines, same puzzle, infinite games.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Lodge: Hospitality
Is the base game Lodge required?
Yes, Hospitality is an expansion. It is not standalone. You need Lodge to play, because this mini-expansion only adds asymmetric roles and their power cards, not the board, tiles, or base setup.
Are the roles balanced or is there a dominant role?
They are horizontally balanced: no one always dominates, but each shines in different contexts. The architect is strong long-term, the bellhop in tight setups, the concierge in bonus chains, the housekeeper in tactical control. It depends on how you play and the table.
Does it also work well in solo mode?
Yes. Lodge's solo mode is greatly enhanced with the roles. Choose a role, challenge yourself with scoring objectives, change roles each game. Asymmetry makes the puzzle more varied without complicating the setup.
How much does it add to game duration?
Almost nothing. The first turn with a new role might take you 30 seconds longer to think. From the second game onwards, the time remains unchanged: 30-60 minutes like base Lodge. Powers are quick to resolve.
Is it available in Italian?
This edition is in English. The texts on the roles are minimal (power name and brief description), easily understandable even with basic English. The base Lodge rules are language-independent once learned.
Lodge: Hospitality is an asymmetric mini-expansion for Lodge, an abstract puzzle game by Peter McPherson published by PickPocket Games. For 1-4 players, 30-60 minutes, ages 14+. It adds four unique roles (bellhop, housekeeper, concierge, architect) that break the rules of the base game in different ways. Core mechanic: open drafting on a square grid, with asymmetric powers that modify tile placement, movement, bonuses, and removal. Compatible with Lodge's official solo mode. Ideal for those seeking strategic depth and replayability without increasing complexity. Available on FroGames.it.
