Dice Throne · Hero Pack Druid
Bear when you need to tank, cat when you need to kill, druid when you need to get back on your feet. Three heroes in one — and you decide which one to sit at the table, turn by turn.
What it's about
He doesn't choose a style. He changes them as you play.
The Dice Throne Hero Pack Druid comes from Vanguard, the latest set in the series, along with Duelist, Forgemaster, and Sun Elf. Signed by Nate Chatellier, Manny Trembley, and Gavan Brown, it's a single hero pack for the Dice Throne system — and the most complete shapeshifter the game has ever had.
He has three forms, managed by a double-sided overlay that covers the center of the board. In Bear Form, the Thick Hide defense becomes a wall: you take hits that would kill anyone else. In Cat Form, every attack you land deals two extra damage and inflicts Wound. And in Druid Form, at the end of your turn, you — or a teammate — gain Regenerate.
The difference from other shapeshifters is that here the transformation is not forced: you spend a Shape Shift token whenever you want, even outside your turn. See a big hit coming? You turn into a bear while they're already rolling. Complexity 4 out of 6: not a hero for a first game, but the best in the series for those who play in pairs.

Your arsenal
What you bring to the Mad King's arena
The forest dice
Five custom dice with claws, paws, and leaves. Up to three rolls per turn: keep what you need, re-roll the rest.
The hero board
Ferocity, Wild Realignment, Nature's Cure, Maul, Forest's Call, Forest's Answer, Thick Hide. And at the bottom, Wrath of Nature!, the Ultimate that cannot be prevented.
The Bear / Cat overlay
A double-sided token that covers the center of the board and changes your passive: defensive wall as a bear, damage and Wound as a cat.
Shape Shift, Regenerate, Wound
Two transformation tokens to spend whenever you want. Regeneration that heals you or your teammate. And wounds that your opponent carries.
"I am the protector of nature and all things living." Then he transforms into a bear and no one can hurt him anymore.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Human form, for now
I open the board to the Druid side, set up the counter, and place the bear/cat overlay within reach. My opponent looks at the extra tile and asks what it is. I tell them it depends on the turn.
I collect the transformation and wait
Wild Realignment: I gain two Shape Shift tokens. I don't spend them. I remain a druid, end my turn, and regenerate. They think I'm wasting time. I have two transformations in hand, and I'm holding onto them.
Turn into a bear while they're already rolling
A big attack comes: twelve damage. I spend a Shape Shift token in the middle of their turn, flip the overlay, and my defense becomes Bear's Thick Hide. I take half damage. The noise they make when they put down the dice is worth the whole evening.
Then cat. And I wound them.
My turn: I flip the overlay to the other side. In Cat Form, every attack I complete deals two extra damage and inflicts Wound. I tanked as a bear; now I bite as a cat. It's the same hero, but two different games.
Wrath of Nature!
Five leaves on the dice: regeneration, two transformations, and heavy damage in an unpreventable strike. Twenty-four minutes. For the rematch, they absolutely want to try the bear.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four phases that flow in less than two minutes. With the Druid, however, there's a question that never leaves you: what form do I want to be in now?
Resolve active effects — Regenerate heals you, Wound wears down your opponent — then draw a card and gain one combat point.
Spend combat points on upgrades and cards. Note: some cards, like Quick Morph! and Don't Poke the Bear, only work in a specific form.
Roll your five dice up to three times. Ferocity and Maul deal damage; Forest's Call and Forest's Answer fill you with Shape Shift and Regenerate. In Cat Form, every completed attack deals two extra damage.
Last cards, last upgrades, discard excess cards from your hand. And remember: Shape Shift tokens can be spent whenever you want, even during your opponent's turn. Keeping one aside is often the best move.
Why choose the Druid
Six reasons to bring them to the arena
Transform whenever you want
The Pale Lady is forced to change form by the rules. Not the Druid: they spend a Shape Shift token at the moment they choose, even in the middle of an opponent's turn. They are the only hero that reacts.
Bear Form: the most solid defense
As a bear, Thick Hide becomes a wall: you roll more defense dice and prevent much more damage. Becoming a bear while your opponent has already rolled is the most frustrating move to face.
Cat Form: +2 damage and Wound
As a cat, every attack you complete deals two extra damage and leaves a wound that continues to work. You switch from defense to offense with a single token.
Regenerate: heal yourself or your teammate
In druid form, at the end of your turn, you regenerate yourself or a teammate. They are the only hero of ours explicitly designed for 2v2 — and in a team, they are twice as valuable.
Wrath of Nature!, the Ultimate
Regeneration, two transformations, and heavy damage in one strike. Like all Dice Throne Ultimates, it cannot be prevented in any way.
The face of the new Vanguard set
Comes from Vanguard, the series' most recent line featuring the Duelist, Forgemaster, and Sun Elf. Still compatible with all Dice Throne heroes, including Marvel.
How it ends
One way to win. One to be defeated.
No scores, no final tally. You fight until someone runs out of health points — and the Druid is built to never be that someone.
Victory
- Reduce the opponent's health points to zero — or the last one standing
- In 2v2, the team that eliminates both enemy heroes wins: and here the Druid excels
- Victory comes from alternating forms: bear when hits are coming, cat when it's time to finish
Defeat
- Your health points reach zero: you are out of the arena
- Staying in the wrong form at the wrong time costs as much as a lost turn
- There's no consolation, but no waiting either: the rematch begins in two minutes
Add the Druid to your arena if you want a hero who responds to anything the table throws at them — and if you often play in teams, they are the best you can buy. Remember: you need at least two Hero Packs to fight.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Dice Throne Hero Pack Druid
Can I play with this Hero Pack alone?
No, and it's important to state that upfront. The Druid Hero Pack contains everything needed for a single hero: you need at least a second Hero Pack (or a Dice Throne box you already own) to play. It's not a base box; it's designed for those who already have the system, or who are building it one hero at a time.
Isn't a hero who heals and defends boring to play?
It would be boring if they were only a tank. The Druid is not: Cat Form adds two damage to each attack and inflicts Wound, and their Ultimate hits hard. Their strength is that you don't have to choose between defense and offense in advance — you change mid-exchange. Those looking for an immediate big hit should pick the Pyromancer; those who want to win by adapting, this is the hero.
How is it different from the Pale Lady, who also transforms?
In terms of control. The Pale Lady is forced to turn into a wolf when she collects three Moon Shards, and to return to human form when she runs out. The Druid decides: they spend a Shape Shift token whenever they want, even on an opponent's turn. And they have three forms instead of two, with a different passive for each.
Which set does it come from and is it compatible with other heroes?
It comes from Dice Throne Vanguard, the most recent set in the series, along with the Duelist, Forgemaster, and Sun Elf. It is still compatible with all Dice Throne heroes: Season One, Season Two, Outcasts, and Marvel Dice Throne can be mixed freely, in 1v1, 2v2, or free-for-all.
Is it suitable for those who have never played Dice Throne?
It has a complexity of 4 out of 6: three forms, three different passives, and an overlay to flip at the right moment. It's not a beginner hero like the Barbarian (1) or the Moon Elf (2). If you already know the system, however, it's one of the most satisfying to master — especially in a team.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The text on the board and cards is in English, but the language is repetitive and highly iconic: after one game, the symbols are self-explanatory. Basic English is needed to play without hesitation.
