FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Eight animals, a chaotic field, and only three fences. Your child will open the box for the piglets and stay for the puzzle.
What it's about
Bring order to the farm, one fence at a time
Smart Farmer is SmartGames' solitaire puzzle where the farmer has a problem: horses, cows, pigs, and sheep are all mixed up in the same field. Your task is to separate them, giving each species its own pasture — using only three fences.
It sounds easy, and at first it is. But Smart Farmer hides 60 challenges across four levels, from Starter to Master. The higher you go, the more it becomes a true logic puzzle: in Master challenges, each pasture must also have its own watering trough, and figuring out which goes where is not at all trivial.
Designed by Raf Peeters, Smart Farmer is one of the best "first logic games": rules in thirty seconds, soft and colorful materials, and a difficulty that grows with the child — even challenging adults.
The secret in two lines
Three fences seem few until you discover how many combinations they hide. It's a tiny idea that generates sixty different puzzles.
The secret of Smart Farmer in one line
Children open it for the soft animals and stay for the thrill of solving. They learn to reason without realizing it.
From gameplay experience
Smart Farmer
Smart Farmer is designed for a single player: the child plays by themselves, adults at most watch and cheer them on. It's their personal logic gym, for at home or on the go.
What's in the box
Few pieces, lots of brainpower
8 farm animals
Two horses, two cows, two pigs, and two sheep in soft rubber: the protagonists to arrange.
3 movable fences
Only three. Are they enough to divide the field correctly? This is where the whole puzzle lives.
3 watering troughs
In Master challenges, each enclosure must have its own water: an additional level of difficulty.
60 challenges, 4 levels
From Starter to Master. Each challenge shows how to arrange the pieces; it's up to you to find the right fences.
A field, eight animals, and three fences. It seems like a child's game — until your child asks for "just one more" for the tenth time.

A challenge in five steps
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The farm is in chaos
Choose a challenge and arrange the animals as shown in the booklet. Pigs, cows, horses, and sheep all mixed together in the same field. Order must be restored — and you always start thinking it will be easy.
Only three fences
You only have three fences. You turn them over in your fingers: where do you place them to give each species its own pasture? You try a first arrangement. It looks promising.
Almost... but no
The cows are separated, but a pig ended up with the horse. You move a fence, and another incorrect enclosure opens up. There's only one right arrangement, and you haven't found it yet.
Every animal in its home
You rotate the last fence and everything falls into place: each species in its own pasture. In Master challenges, you also check that each has its own watering trough. Done. That small satisfaction is worth it all.
Just one more!
Challenge solved, and you're already turning the page. Master number 52 has only one animal per species and three watering troughs: where does each go? "Just one more." Kids always say it. And often adults do too.
How to play
Four steps, one solution
The rules are understood in half a minute. The booklet provides all the difficulty, challenge after challenge.
From the booklet, from Starter to Master. It tells you where to place the animals and — in advanced levels — the watering troughs on the board.
Place animals and watering troughs exactly as shown. These remain fixed: you cannot move them again.
Divide the field into pastures with the three fences, so that each species is on its own. You don't always need all three.
Each species in its own pasture — and each pasture with its water, in the Master challenges? Challenge solved. The solution is at the back of the booklet.
Why it's worth it
Six reasons to put it in their room
Designed for 5-year-olds
A true first logic game: rules in thirty seconds, large and soft pieces, a theme that children love from the first glance.
Trains the mind
Concentration, planning, problem-solving, and spatial perception. A mental workout that the child mistakes for play.
Three fences, a thousand solutions
A very simple idea — dividing a field with three pieces — that generates 60 different puzzles. That's the beauty of it.
Four levels, grows with the child
From Starter to Master. The first challenges are for very young children, the last ones will make even an adult sweat. It lasts over time.
The watering trough twist
In the Master level, each pasture must have its water, but you don't know which watering trough goes to whom. It's a puzzle within a puzzle.
Language independent
All challenges are visual: you look at the picture and play. Nothing to read, perfect even for those who don't know how yet.
How to win
One goal, one solution
Each challenge has only one correct arrangement. Either every animal has its own pasture, or there's still something to fix.
Challenge solved
- Each species is enclosed in its own pasture, separated from the others
- In Master levels, each pasture has its own watering trough
- All pastures are occupied: none are left empty
If you get stuck
- Four difficulty levels: you move up when you're ready
- Not all three fences are always needed: sometimes one is enough
- The solution is at the back of the booklet: no frustration
Smart Farmer is the game that makes children think without them even realizing it. They open it for the pigs and stay for the puzzle.
Frequently asked questions
Smart Farmer FAQs
Can a game for 5-year-olds really be engaging?
Yes, more than it seems. The Starter levels are designed for very young children, but the Master levels — with only one animal per species and watering troughs to assign to the correct pasture — can challenge even adults. It's a game that starts gentle and becomes a true logic puzzle.
Sixty challenges with only three fences: won't they run out quickly?
No. That's the stroke of genius in the design: the ways to divide the field with three fences are surprisingly numerous. The animals change, their arrangement changes, the watering troughs change — and each challenge becomes a new problem, right up to the Master level.
From what age can children really play?
From age 5. It's one of the SmartGames puzzles designed specifically for younger children, with large, soft pieces and immediate rules. The first levels are solved in a few seconds, the last ones will accompany the child for years.
Do you need to know how to read or understand English?
No. Smart Farmer is completely visual: you look at the challenge picture and play, with no text to read. It's perfect even for those who don't know how to read yet and can be played in any language.
Can more than one person play?
It's a solo game, designed for one player. At home, however, it's common to play in turns or with a parent helping: the child thinks and the adult cheers them on. It remains, however, a puzzle to be tackled alone.
How does it differ from other SmartGames puzzles?
Smart Farmer is among the most suitable for young children (from 5 years old), with a farm theme that immediately captivates. Those looking for a tougher challenge can look at titles for older ages like Tower Stacks. The mechanics — arranging pieces and solving with few elements — is the same SmartGames signature.
Smart Farmer is a solo logic puzzle game from SmartGames, designed by Raf Peeters, for 1 player (ages 5+). It contains a game board, 8 farm animals (2 horses, 2 cows, 2 pigs, 2 sheep), 3 movable fences, 3 watering troughs, and a booklet with 60 challenges and solutions, across four levels from Starter to Master. Main mechanic: divide the field with fences to separate each animal species into its own pasture; in Master levels, each pasture must have its watering trough. It trains visual-spatial perception, planning, problem-solving, concentration, and lateral thinking. Language-independent game, ideal as a first logic game and as a travel pastime.
