You are under Paris. The lights flicker, someone counts the seconds aloud. Then darkness. And the sound of footsteps behind you doubles.
WHAT IT IS
Bastille Day becomes Paris's last night
Zombicide: Pariz is a campaign expansion for Zombicide 2nd Edition, designed by Fel Barros, Toi von Glehn, Rodrigo Sonnesso and Fabio Tola and published by CMON (Asmodee for Italy). Set in Paris during the Bastille Day celebrations, it takes the series to iconic locations in the French capital: streets lit by the Eiffel Tower, medieval catacombs, and the chaos of a national holiday turned nightmare.
This expansion introduces ten interconnected missions with narrative choices that influence the campaign, six new survivors and thematic Parisian zombies. The distinctive mechanic is the day/night cycle: on the surface a clock marks the sunset and changes zombie behavior; in the catacombs the lights go out at intervals, turning every corridor into a trap. Requires the Zombicide 2nd Edition base game to play.
What they say abroad
"During the celebrations of Bastille Day, somehow the dead came back to life."
— CMON Global Limited
The medieval catacombs beneath Paris are the real twist. Day doesn't exist there, only the light switch and the hope it holds for another turn.

Zombicide (2nd Edition): Pariz
Zombicide 2E officially supports solo play by controlling multiple survivors. In Pariz, the experience is complete, especially in the catacombs where managing lights and positions alone creates pure tension. It only loses the negotiation of who takes which item at the table, but the narrative campaign works very well solo.
What to pack for Paris
New gameplay elements
Day/Night Cycle
On the surface, a clock marks sunset. By day, zombies are slow; by night, their behavior changes. In the catacombs, lights go out at intervals: when it's dark, every movement is a calculated risk.
Marie Antoinette Zombie
Headless sculpt holding her own skull. She carries a guillotine that becomes an additional spawn point: killing her is an absolute priority or the map quickly fills up.
Paris and Catacombs Tiles
Seven double-sided tiles featuring the Eiffel Tower, Parisian streets, medieval underground corridors. Trees add danger (zombies falling from above), trapdoors connect above and below.
Objective Cards and Secret Envelopes
101 objective cards for narrative choices. Ten envelopes correspond to the campaign missions: decisions in one mission unlock content in subsequent ones. Each group will have a different Paris.

How to play
The flow of each round
Zombicide 2E is a well-established system. Pariz adds the light timer and environmental mechanics, but the core remains the same: player activation, then zombie activation.
Each survivor has three actions: move, search, attack, trade items, open doors. Order matters: whoever enters first takes the first hit. In the catacombs, you decide who holds the torch (personal light) and who advances in the dark.
On the surface, the day/night clock advances each round. When it turns to night, zombies change behavior (specific rules in the mission). The pressure is constant: every wasted turn brings darkness closer.
Zombies activate: first they move towards noise or visible survivors, then they attack. Every killed zombie raises the group's danger level (Experience), which increases spawns. Marie Antoinette spawns extra from her guillotine.
Spawn cards are drawn based on the Experience level: new zombies arrive from entry zones. In the catacombs, you check if the lights go out: when they do, visibility and movement change completely until the next turn they are re-lit.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Bastille Day
Open the first mission envelope. Paris is lit up, the streets are wide, the zombies are still slow. Someone jokes about the Eiffel Tower in the background. It feels like a normal Zombicide mission, familiar and under control. Then the clock starts ticking.
Sunset arrives
The day/night marker advances. The streets become more dangerous, the zombies change. Someone says "we need to finish before dark", but an objective is still needed. The first time night falls you realize the campaign won't be like the others: the tension suddenly rises.
Under Paris
Mission three or four: you enter the catacombs. Narrow corridors, skulls on the walls, and a light switch no one wants to touch. When the lights go out the first time, someone suggests waiting for them to come back on. But spawns don't wait. Moving in the dark or standing still: both choices are scary.
Marie Antoinette arrives
The headless queen appears. The sculpt is spectacular, the guillotine on the board is an immediate problem. All plans change: someone has to take her down, immediately, or the map will fill up. The discussion is brief and intense: who has the right weapons, who can reach her, who covers the retreat.
The last mission
Envelope ten. The choices from previous missions have opened or closed paths, added objectives. Perhaps you met the mad billionaire, perhaps you found a solution. The campaign ends with a precise feeling: you lived your Paris, different from that of other groups. Someone is already asking when to start again.

What to know before
Three things you need to know before buying
Requires the base game
This is an expansion: Zombicide 2nd Edition is required to play (base zombies, dice, survivor dashboards). Pariz adds new missions, tiles, characters, and mechanics, but it is not standalone. If you don't have the base game, you must purchase it separately.
Few new zombies compared to other expansions
Pariz brings six new zombie sculpts (two walkers, two runners, two bruisers) but only Marie Antoinette has her own rules. Those expecting new types of undead or additional abominations might be disappointed: the focus is on the campaign and setting, not on zombie mechanical variety.
The light mechanic is simple but changes everything
The day/night cycle is not complex (a token that advances), but it profoundly alters the pace. In the catacombs, the lights going out create moments of pure tension. If you're looking for a relaxed Zombicide, this is not the right expansion: temporal pressure is constant.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Each mission has specific objectives described on the objective cards. The general conditions of the series remain valid, but Pariz adds narrative consequences to choices.
Victory
- Complete all mission objectives within the turn limit (when present)
- All active survivors exit the evacuation zone indicated on the map
- Some missions require narrative choices via objective cards: victory unlocks content in subsequent envelopes
Defeat
- All survivors are eliminated (zero health)
- The turn limit of a mission is exceeded without completing objectives
- In some narrative missions, wrong choices can cause immediate defeat (indicated on the objective card)
Zombicide: Pariz takes the series into new territory: two totally opposite environments (lit streets and dark catacombs) with a mechanic that turns tension into a visible countdown. For those looking for a compact narrative campaign with choices that matter.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Zombicide (2nd Edition): Pariz
Is the base game really necessary, or can I play with just Pariz?
Zombicide 2nd Edition base is absolutely necessary. Pariz is a campaign expansion: it provides new tiles, missions, characters, and Parisian zombies, but it uses the core components of the base game (dice, standard zombies, dashboards, fundamental rules). It is not standalone.
Can the campaign be played multiple times, or is it a single-use experience?
The campaign has secret envelopes that open during missions, but you don't destroy materials. You can replay it, even if the narrative surprise will be less. High replayability by changing survivors or playing standalone missions outside the campaign. Each group will have different choices, hence different experiences.
How different is it from other Zombicide 2E expansions like Rio Z Janeiro?
The structure is similar (ten-mission campaign, new characters, thematic zombies), but Pariz introduces the light/dark mechanic that other expansions do not have. The catacombs with intermittent lights are the distinctive element. Less zombie variety compared to other expansions: the focus is on the setting and time pressure.
What mechanics does Zombicide: Pariz use?
Action point allowance, grid movement, mandatory cooperation, hand and inventory management, escalating danger (Experience track that increases spawns), narrative campaign with branching choices (objective cards), day/night cycle with a timer, light/dark mechanic in the catacombs. All based on dice rolling for combat.
Is it available in English?
Yes, this is the English edition published by Asmodee. Rulebook, cards, components with text are all in English. It still requires Zombicide 2nd Edition in English to play (the base game must be in the same language for card compatibility).
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who designed it, who publishes it — and what else they've done.
Zombicide (2nd Edition): Pariz is a cooperative campaign expansion for 1-6 players, 60-120 minutes, ages 14+, that brings the CMON (Asmodee) series to the streets and catacombs of Paris during Bastille Day. Designed by Fel Barros, Toi von Glehn, Rodrigo Sonnesso, and Fabio Tola, it introduces ten interconnected narrative missions with day/night and light/dark cycle mechanics: on the surface, a clock marks sunset, altering zombie behavior, while in the medieval catacombs, lights go out at intervals, creating claustrophobic tension. It includes six new survivors, thematic Parisian zombies, and the headless Marie Antoinette with a guillotine spawn point. Requires Zombicide 2nd Edition base game to play. Available on FroGames.it.
