The FroGames Card
You have three dice. You assign one to movement, one to attack, and one to defense. The zombies are advancing. The crate in front of you might contain ammo or just junk. Choose. Now.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
The zombie apocalypse in a box that fits in your pocket
Z Horde is based on Giampaolo Razzino's One Card Dungeon system, already known for compressing a complete dungeon crawler onto a single card. Here, the setting changes radically: no dragons or wizards, but abandoned streets, hordes of undead, and a group of survivors with limited ammo. Marco Salogni illustrates this journey of 12 progressive scenarios.
Each turn, you roll three dice and assign them to movement, attack, and defense. You move on a grid, open crates for supplies, buy weapons between levels, and fight zombies that never stop. Line of sight, positioning, resource management, and character abilities all matter. Five unique survivors, a dynamic market between levels, reusable weapons, consumable items, obstacles, and different types of monsters make each scenario distinct from the last.
What they say abroad
"A zombie dungeon crawl played in an ultra-compact format, with 12 levels of increasing difficulty and a full campaign system."
— Little Rocket Games
This is a newly released game with limited data available. This card reflects an initial reading of the mechanics and public material. We will update it once we have played enough games for a solid verdict.

Z Horde
Z Horde is designed exclusively for solitaire play. The dice placement system manages movement, attack, and defense against rules-controlled hordes, without the need for an external automa. The 12-scenario campaign offers progression, equipment purchasing, and tactical choices designed for the solo experience.
Your arsenal
What you have to survive
Three energy dice
Each turn you roll them and assign them to movement, attack, defense. Combined with your abilities, they decide if you live or succumb to the horde. The most important choice in the game.
Five survivors
Each with unique abilities. Some are fast, others resilient, others excellent sharpshooters. Choose who to bring on the mission and build your strategy around their strengths.
Dynamic market
Between levels, spend your earned points to buy reusable weapons, consumable items, upgrades. The choices you make here change how you approach the next scenario.
Supply crates
Scattered across the map. Opening them costs time and risks attracting zombies, but inside there might be the ammo that saves you. Or nothing. You won't know until you open them.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each turn
Z Horde is played in fast turns where every choice matters. Here's what you do.
You roll three standard six-sided dice. The results determine how many points you have available for the three actions of the turn.
Place one die on movement, one on attack, one on defense. Add the die result to your character's skill level in that category. This gives you the points to spend.
Spend movement points to move on the grid, attack points to hit zombies within range, defense points to reduce the damage you take. Line of sight matters: you only see what is not covered by obstacles.
The undead move according to the rules. Some advance, others attack you if you're close. The pressure increases every turn. Gather resources, open crates, search for the exit before the horde overwhelms you.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose your survivor
Read the abilities of the five characters. One is fast, one tough, one shoots better. Choose the one that appeals to you most for the scenario you are about to face. You don't know yet how much this choice will matter, but you'll make it anyway.
First rolls, first choices
You roll the three dice. They come up 2, 4, 6. You assign the 6 to movement to reach the distant crate, the 4 to attack, the 2 to defense. The zombies on the map stare at you. You hope you did well.
The crate betrays you
You open the crate. Inside is a useless item and two zombies turn towards you. You should have gone the other way. Now you have to fight with low defense and health dropping. You rethink your dice assignment.
The narrow corridor
You squeeze into a corridor to escape the horde, but the line of sight works in both directions. You see three zombies in front and two more behind. You have ammunition for two shots. You do the math, roll the dice, and pray for a high roll.
Scenario end or game over
Either you reach the exit with a breath of life left, buy a better weapon and move to the next level, or an unlucky roll sends you below zero health points and you restart the scenario from the beginning. In either case, you rethink that cursed crate from turn three.
🐸What to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
What to know beforehand
Three honest things about Z Horde
Even with the best strategy, three consecutive low rolls can ruin the plan. The dice placement system mitigates luck, but doesn't eliminate it. If you hate losing due to bad luck, be aware that it can happen here.
The game promises 12 progressive scenarios, but we haven't played enough yet to understand if the balancing holds up until the end or if there are frustrating spikes. The progression might not be uniform.
The game system is always the same: roll, assign, move, attack. The five characters and the dynamic market add variety, but after many games, the routine might become repetitive. It depends on how much you appreciate the compact format.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat rewards the ending▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Z Horde is a survival campaign. Each scenario has a clear objective.
Victory
- Reach the scenario exit with at least 1 health point
- Complete the specific objective of the level (eliminate a boss, rescue a survivor, gather resources)
- Complete all 12 scenarios and save humanity from the zombie apocalypse
Defeat
- Your health points drop to zero: the character dies and you restart the scenario
- The horde surrounds you and you no longer have enough defense points to resist
- You run out of available turns without completing the objective (if the scenario has a time limit)
Z Horde promises a complete zombie apocalypse in a pocket-sized box, with campaign progression, dynamic market, and five unique survivors. If the One Card Dungeon system convinced you, this zombie version might be the next challenge to take anywhere.

Z Horde FAQ
What mechanics does Z Horde use?
Z Horde uses dice placement (assign three dice to movement, attack, defense), grid movement (you move on a square grid), line of sight (you only see and attack what is not covered), resource management (ammunition, consumable items) and progressive campaign (12 linked scenarios with purchases between levels).
Is it really for one player or does it also work with more?
Z Horde is designed exclusively for one player. There are no official multiplayer variants. If you are looking for a cooperative zombie game, this is not for you.
How long does a complete campaign game last?
Each scenario lasts approximately 30-60 minutes. The complete 12-level campaign therefore requires 6-12 total hours, but you can play one level at a time and save progress between sessions.
Can I play it without ever having seen One Card Dungeon?
Yes, Z Horde is standalone: it does not require the base game. It is built on the same system but with completely new setting, mechanics and content. If you know One Card Dungeon you will be familiar with dice placement, otherwise you will learn everything in 10 minutes.
Is it available in Italian?
The edition sold on FroGames is in Italian, with fully localized rulebook, cards and components. Published by Little Rocket Games, an Italian publishing house specializing in compact and solo games.
