Open the first box. Inside there's a Zoe meeple and an Expert worker tile. You look at the other eleven sealed packs on the table. Someone smiles. Someone else calculates how many games it will take to open them all.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Unlock new content by conquering the Board of Directors' achievements
Galactic Cruise: Achievements is an expansion where players work to complete special feats set by the Board of Directors, receiving a reward (and an even tougher challenge) each time an objective is met. Designed by the trio T.K. King, Dennis Northcott, and Koltin Thompson with art by Ian O'Toole, this expansion brings the campaign-adjacent system into Kinson Key Games' space eurogame.
At the table you have a series of achievements to reach each game, and if someone completes one, you can open a new box, unlocking game components (and an even harder version of the achievement). The bulk of the expansion is within 12+ boxes of locked content: each time a player completes one of the 12 achievements, a new box is unlocked for all players, and the winning supervisor engraves their name in the annals of history.

This is an initial read on a newly released expansion. The components are still in prototype phase in the photos we've seen. We will update the card after the first live games.

Galactic Cruise: Achievements
The base game has an excellent solo mode with Rachel, the easy-to-manage AI opponent with different difficulty levels. The Achievements expansion also works solo: you unlock the boxes alone and Rachel competes for achievements. The experience is complete but loses the collective dimension of shared unlocking.
What's in the boxes
Progressive content that unlocks game after game
Initial box
To start, open a box containing a new Expert worker tile and two upgrade tokens for your lower launch tower. It's the first taste. The other eleven packs remain sealed until someone completes the corresponding achievement.
Basic and advanced achievements
With each achievement you unlock a more difficult advanced achievement, and usually some additional components that help you reach them. The achievements are quite varied and you don't achieve them by chance, so you really have to change your play style.
Certificates and bonus boxes
Completing achievements earns you Certificates, and with enough Certificates you can unlock 3 larger boxes. In total 15 content boxes to unlock in the prototype, so the system keeps you busy for many games.
Zoe meeple and more
The expansion immediately includes a Zoe meeple and the rules for including her in the game. Unlockable content ranges from new Agenda Cards and special cockpits/engines to secret objective cards, special ability tiles, and asymmetric characters. Details remain intentionally hidden.
🎲How to PlayThe rules in four steps▼
How to Play
The modified flow with Achievements
The base game remains identical. The expansion overlays a layer of long-term objectives that modify your priorities turn after turn.
At the beginning of each turn, take a look at the open achievements. Some require specific actions (launching cruises with many passengers, building technologies in strange configurations), others accumulate slow progress throughout the game.
You place workers, take actions connected by the development network, collect resources, build shuttles, schedule cruises. The basic rules do not change. But now your choices are geared towards the achievements you want to complete.
When a player meets the requirements of an achievement, they declare it, write their name (literally: there are stickers) and open the corresponding box. The new components immediately come into play for everyone. The achievement transforms into a more difficult advanced version.
Completing achievements gives you Certificates. With enough Certificates, you unlock the three most substantial bonus boxes. This creates meta-progression: it's not enough to win games, you have to win the right way to open everything.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table with Achievements
Not the rules. The experience.
The table looks at the sealed boxes
Setup as usual, but this time there are twelve numbered packages in the middle of the table. One is already open (Zoe and the Expert worker). The other eleven are waiting. Someone reads the first achievement aloud: "Launch a cruise with at least 8 passengers." Sounds easy. It won't be.
Someone deviates from the plan for the achievement
Normally you would build a balanced engine. Not this time: there's an achievement that requires three technologies on the same location. You change strategy. You place workers in places you would normally ignore. The others at the table look at you, understand, correct their plans.
First unlock
Someone completes the achievement. Ironic applause. The corresponding box is opened: inside are new Agenda cards and a more difficult advanced achievement than the previous one. The new components immediately come into play. The game changes shape halfway through.
The race for Certificates
After three achievements are unlocked, everyone at the table has understood that Certificates are needed to open the big boxes. The tension rises: it's no longer just who wins the game, it's who writes their name first. Two players are neck and neck on a difficult achievement.
End of game, start of campaign
The game ends. Someone won in points, but two achievements remain incomplete. Their sealed packages remain on the table. Someone says, "Shall we play again tomorrow?" Everyone nods. This is the trick: the expansion keeps you at the table longer than usual.

Good to know beforehand
Three honest things before buying
Requires the base game to be already mastered
This expansion assumes you know Galactic Cruise by heart. The base game has a complexity of 4.0 out of 5 and you should expect two or three games before the cruise launch process becomes natural. If you haven't played at least 4-5 games of the base, don't open Achievements: you would be adding layers on shaky foundations.
Extends games by 15-30 minutes
Achievements add extra decisions every turn ("do I stick to my plan or deviate for the unlock?"). The base game already lasts 90-150 minutes depending on player count and experience, with early games taking longer. With Achievements, expect to easily exceed two hours in early campaign sessions.
The unlock system is permanent (but reversible)
Once the packs are opened, they remain open for subsequent games. It's not a destructive legacy (no torn cards), but there are stickers to apply to track who completed what. If you share the game with multiple groups, you might need to buy multiple copies of the expansion or manage separate campaigns.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
Victory, achievements and campaign progression
The expansion overlays two levels of victory: who wins the single game (standard Galactic Cruise victory points) and who unlocks achievements first (permanent glory and new components).
Achievement completion
- Meet the requirements of an active achievement (e.g., launch a cruise with 8+ passengers, build 3 technologies on the same location, reach specific resource thresholds)
- Declare completion, engrave your name on the achievement card with the provided sticker
- Open the corresponding numbered box: inside you'll find new components (cards, tiles, tokens) that immediately come into play for all players
Missed unlock
- Finish the game without completing any achievements: no boxes open, no Certificates earned
- Another player completes the achievement before you: your name is not engraved, but you still use the unlocked components in subsequent games
- Accumulate few Certificates: the three big boxes remain closed until the group collectively earns enough
This expansion doesn't change who wins the game. It changes why you play the next one: to open the boxes that remain sealed, to see what's inside, to engrave your name at least once.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ on Galactic Cruise: Achievements
Can I play Achievements without ever having played the base game?
No, it's a bad idea. Galactic Cruise base is already a medium-heavy eurogame with a steep learning curve. The expansion assumes you know the mechanics by heart and adds a layer of superimposed objectives. Play at least 4-5 games of the base before opening this box.
Can achievements also be completed solo?
Yes. The base game has an excellent solo mode with Rachel (the AI automa) and the expansion also works there. You unlock the boxes by yourself and Rachel competes for achievements. The experience loses the collective dimension of shared unlocking at the table, but campaign progression remains intact.
How many games does it take to unlock everything?
We don't know for sure (the game has just been released). There are 12 base achievements plus advanced versions, so theoretically you could unlock 1-2 boxes per game if you are fast. Realistically expect 8-12 games to open all 15 boxes, maybe more if some advanced achievements are very difficult.
What happens if I open all the boxes? Does the expansion end?
Once everything is unlocked, the new components remain in play permanently and the advanced achievements become optional objectives to vary the games. The expansion transforms into an additional content module for the base, with more cards, tiles and asymmetric variants. Replayability doesn't end, it changes form.
Is it available in Italian?
No. The edition for sale is in English. The base game of Galactic Cruise has text on many cards (Agenda, corporate objectives, actions) and the expansion adds further cards and textual components. It requires a good command of written English to play smoothly. There are no verifiable fan-made Italian translations currently available.
