The FroGames Card
You have Hercules in hand, the Hydra on the table, and Persephone in the discard pile. Someone draws Theseus, you discard the wrong hero, and suddenly that perfect combo is gone. In ten minutes, you'll know if you've built a legendary kingdom or a curse from Hades.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
A mythological kingdom to build card by card
Bruce Glassco returns to his most successful format (the original Fantasy Realms has captivated thousands of players since 2017) and takes it to Olympus. Illustrated by Darren Calvert, Greek Legends is a standalone game that inherits its predecessor's winning formula and adds three new mechanics: the afterlife (sacrificing cards to activate powerful abilities), quests (secret combos to complete), and legendary monsters (which only score points if defeated by the right heroes). The result is a card drafting and combo game that promises lightning-fast games and never-trivial decisions.
At the table: you have seven cards in hand, you draw one (from the deck or the visible discard pile) and discard one. The goal is to build the strongest possible kingdom before the deck runs out. Each card is worth points based on the other cards in your hand: tags (Gold, Quest, Olympian, Mortal...) and suits (Warrior, Artifact, Beast...) create explosive synergies or brutal penalties. You must decide whether to keep the powerful hero you drew or send them to the afterlife to immediately activate a game-changing ability. The player who builds the kingdom with the highest score wins.
What they say abroad
"Greek Legends is Fantasy Realms refined: faster decisions, deeper combos, same brilliant tension."

Fantasy Realms: Greek Legends
The cards of your kingdom
Heroes, monsters, artifacts, and curses
Olympian Heroes
Achilles, Theseus, Hercules: each hero is worth gold if paired with the right companions or legendary artifacts. But if you keep too many unsupported warriors, your score plummets.
Legendary Monsters
The Hydra, the Chimera, the Minotaur: they are worth points ONLY if you defeat them with the correct hero in your hand. Otherwise, they are heavy penalties. Pure risk and reward.
Artifacts and Quests
Orpheus' Lyre, the Golden Fleece, the Trident: each artifact multiplies the points of certain cards. Quests are secret combos to complete for huge end-game bonuses.
Afterlife
Sacrifice a card: you send it to the afterlife discard pile (out of play) and immediately activate its special ability. It's a limited resource: every sacrifice must count.

🎲How to PlayThe rules in four steps▼
How to Play
The flow of each turn
Each turn is lightning-fast: draw, evaluate, discard. But every choice carries significant weight.
You can draw from the face-down deck or take ONE card from the visible discards (there are always several available). What others have discarded can become your winning combo.
You look at the seven cards (now eight). You mentally calculate: which tags combine, which suits multiply, which quests you can complete. You decide whether to sacrifice a card to the afterlife to activate its ability immediately.
Choose a card from your hand and place it face-up in the discard pile. That card is lost to you, but now it's available to everyone else. Every discard is a calculated risk.
Play continues until the deck runs out or someone decides to stop the game (in some variants, not clear from BGG data). At that point: everyone reveals their hands and points are counted. Whoever built the strongest realm wins.
⏱️Your First GameThe play-by-play, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The opening hand
Everyone draws seven cards. Someone has Hercules and the Hydra right away, someone else looks at a hand full of Beasts with no synergies. The mental calculation begins: what do I keep, what do I sacrifice, what do I discard first.
The first afterlife
Someone sacrifices Persephone to activate her ability: draw two extra cards and choose. The table understands that the afterlife is not a penalty, it's a strategy. Those who held everything in their hand start to sweat.
The combo that changes everything
One player completes a secret quest (three Olympians + an Artifact) and reveals the bonus: +30 points. The table murmurs. Those who were convinced they were in the lead recalculate their hand and realize they are behind.
The last round of drawing
The deck is almost empty. Someone draws Zeus from the discards and completely changes their plan in the last available turn. Those who built a solid but unexciting kingdom look nervously: will it be enough?
The final tally
Everyone reveals their hands. Points are counted: every tag, every suit, every bonus and penalty. The winner emerges, but someone disputes a detail ("The Hydra penalizes you, you don't have Hercules!"). Laughter, arguments, someone immediately asks for a rematch.
🐸What to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
What to know beforehand
Three things you need to know
Point calculation is not immediate
Each card has unique scoring rules: tags, suits, conditional bonuses, penalties. At the end of the game, it takes time to count everything correctly. With 6 players, the calculation slows down considerably, especially in the first few games. This is not a design flaw; it's the nature of the game: complex combos require attention.
Information is public but calculation is private
Discards are visible, but what's in your hand is secret. You need to mentally keep track of what's been played, what's missing, what others might be building. If you're not used to hand management games, the first few games will be more chaotic: you learn to read the table over time.
With 2 players, everything changes
With 2 players, interaction is surgical: you immediately see what your opponent discards and can block their combos. With 5-6 players, it's more chaotic, and luck plays a bigger role (too many variables to control). The sweet spot seems to be 3-4 players, but there's still too little BGG data to confirm this with certainty.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The game ends when the deck runs out (or based on end-game rules not entirely clear from available data). At that point, points are counted.
Victory
- Build high-scoring combos: tags and suits that multiply each other
- Complete secret quests: specific combinations that give huge bonuses
- Defeat legendary monsters with the right heroes: the Hydra is golden if you have Hercules in hand
How to lose points
- Keep cards that penalize each other: too many Beasts without support, undefeated monsters
- Sacrifice to the afterlife at the wrong time: lose a key card too early
- Discard the card you needed: someone else draws it and completes the combo before you
Greek Legends is Fantasy Realms with wings: deeper, more mythological, more ruthless. If you love card games where every choice counts and combos explode, this is your game. If you hate counting complex points at the end of the game, maybe not.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Fantasy Realms: Greek Legends
What mechanics does Fantasy Realms: Greek Legends use?
Pure hand management: you draw a card (from the deck or discards), evaluate combos in your hand, and discard a card. Each card has tags and suits that interact with others to create synergies or penalties. Additionally, there are unique mechanics: afterlife (sacrifice cards to activate abilities), quests (secret combos to complete), and legendary monsters (which only score points if you defeat them with the right heroes).
Do I need to know the original Fantasy Realms to play?
No, Greek Legends is a complete standalone game. It inherits the predecessor's formula but is a game in its own right, with new cards and mechanics. If you've played the original, you'll recognize the structure, but you can easily start here.
With how many players does it work best?
Based on available data (few votes on BGG, the game is from 2025), the range is 2-6 players. With 2 players, interaction is more tactical and controlled; with 5-6, it becomes more chaotic, and luck plays a greater role. The sweet spot seems to be 3-4 players, but more playtesting is needed to confirm this with certainty. The duration always remains around 20 minutes.
How complex is the scoring?
It's not straightforward. Each card has conditional scoring rules: tags, suits, bonuses, penalties, completed quests, defeated monsters. At the end of the game, it takes time to count everything correctly. With 6 players, the calculation slows down, especially in the first few games. If you're looking for a lightning-fast filler until the very end, be aware that the final calculation can add 5-10 minutes.
Is it available in Italian?
The edition sold on FroGames is in English. The cards have text: names of heroes, monsters, artifacts, and special abilities. Knowledge of the language is required to play without constantly consulting the rulebook. No official or fan-made Italian translations have been verified.
