FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Dice are rolled, "kraken!" is shouted, someone steals the treasure chest on the last square. And the kids are already asking to play again before the tiles are even put away.
What it's about
A route that changes every time to Treasure Island
Piratello is the race game from Red Glove designed for little explorers of the seven seas — and for the grown-ups who play with them. Roll the dice, move your ship, and discover what awaits you along the route, between stormy seas and mysterious islands.
The secret is the 37 modular tiles: the track is built differently every game, and you decide how long and difficult the journey will be. The smaller the sea, the faster the adventure — perfect for adjusting the game to the age of those at the table.
Two modes, path and chase, completely change the atmosphere: you race towards the treasure or hunt each other down, stealing the chest. Piratello is a Red Glove classic, illustrated with the cartoonish style that kids adore.
No two games are ever the same: you build the sea, tile by tile. The map is half the fun.
The secret of Piratello in one line
The dice dictate the route — so a five-year-old can beat their dad, and it happens often. Everyone starts on equal footing.
From the game experience
Piratello
What's in play
Everything you need to set sail
37 modular tiles
The sea is built differently every time. You decide how long and difficult the journey to the treasure will be.
6 pirate ships
Choose yours and set sail. Up to six captains racing to the same, highly contested island.
The adventure die
No calculations: roll, count, set sail. The die decides how far you move along the route each turn.
The treasure chest
The stakes. The first to reach the island — or to successfully steal it — takes home the adventure.
At the end of the game, the children will ask to go on the route again. And you, secretly, will want to win again.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The adventure.
The sea is built
Before even playing, the adventure is decided. How many tiles? How long will the journey be? Children choose the route, adults adjust the difficulty. The map you are about to face didn't exist five minutes ago.
The ships set sail
First dice roll, first squares. Everyone races, some surge ahead, some fall behind with a miserable "one." The cheering – and the first complaint against the die – starts immediately.
Dangers appear
Here comes the kraken, the super slow turtle, the fortress that blocks you. The route is no walk in the park: every tile can help you or ruin your turn. Children laugh, shout, cheer.
The plot twist
In pursuit mode, someone steals the treasure chest and the chase begins. The last one is suddenly the most dangerous. The game turns upside down and no one feels safe until the last square.
Treasure Island!
A ship reaches the island and the adventure ends with a triumphant shout. But the chest is still closed, the tiles already call for another route... and the usual phrase comes: "come on, one more game!".
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four very simple steps, designed so that a child can play almost alone after the first explanation.
Compose the path with the tiles: decide together how long and challenging the journey to Treasure Island will be.
On your turn, you roll the dice and find out how far your ship advances. No complicated calculations: just look at the number and count.
Move your ship along the route and discover which tile you land on: a help, a danger, or a pirate surprise.
Avoid krakens, turtles, and fortresses, use friendly pirates and parrots, and head straight for the island. The first one to arrive wins.
Why big and small like it
Six things that make Piratello special
A different map every time
The 37 modular tiles create an ever-new path. No fixed board: the sea changes every game.
Customizable duration and difficulty
More tiles, longer and more challenging journey; fewer tiles, a quick game. You adapt it to the age and time you have.
From 5 years old, without barriers
Essential rules, clear symbols, irresistible pirate theme. It's one of the simplest ways to introduce children to board games.
Everyone starts on equal footing
As it's a roll-and-move game, the dice count: a child can easily beat an adult. No one starts at a disadvantage.
Two modes in one box
Path version, calm and linear, or pursuit version, where you steal the treasure chest. Two games in the same sea.
Enchanting illustrations
Red Glove's cartoonish style fills the table with pirates, sea monsters, and funny details. Children immediately fall in love with it.
How to win
First to the island, or treasure chest thief
The objective is simple to explain to anyone, but the route is full of pitfalls that can turn the race upside down until the last square. The winner is whoever stays the course... and has a bit of luck with the dice.
The objective
- Be the first to reach Treasure Island with your ship
- In pursuit mode, you can win by stealing the treasure chest
- Decide before the game how long the race will be
The dangers of the sea
- Krakens, sea dragons, and fortresses slow you down along the route
- Super slow turtles can make you lose valuable ground
- Friendly pirates and parrots, however, can give you a boost
Piratello is the perfect path game for family evenings: it can be explained in two minutes, entertains ages 5 to 99, and is never the same.
Frequently asked questions
Piratello FAQ
Is it just the usual "roll the dice and move"?
The basic mechanic is that, and that's precisely what makes it suitable for younger children. But two things distinguish it from the classic path game: the board is modular — you build it yourself with the 37 tiles, so it's never the same — and there are two modes, path and pursuit, with the latter adding interaction and plot twists. It's a roll-and-move, yes, but with variety and rhythm that a fixed path doesn't have.
From what age can you really play?
It's recommended from 5 years old and performs best in the 5–10 age range. At that age, children manage the dice and movement independently after just one explanation. Adults enjoy accompanying them and adjusting the difficulty — it's not a "grown-up" game, but it's perfect to share.
How many players are needed and how long does it last?
It plays from 2 to 6 players, and a game usually lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. You decide the duration: with a few tiles you have a quick race, with many a longer adventure. Great for both two players and the whole family.
Can children play without an adult?
Yes, after the first guided game. The rules are few, and the symbols on the tiles are clear and illustrated, so children can manage on their own. An adult's presence is mostly needed to set up the route the first time.
What language is Piratello in?
This is the multilingual edition distributed in Italy by Red Glove, Italian included. The game is still very visual: once the few rules are learned, play follows mainly the icons on the tiles.
Are all games similar?
No, and that's its strong point. The 37 modular tiles generate a different route every time, and the two modes completely change the pace. Even with the same players, no two games are ever identical.
