Dice Throne · Hero Pack Moon Elf
You don't see her coming, you can't hit her, and meanwhile her arrows find you from three lanes away. Calmness has won more duels than fury.
What it's about
Hit from afar. Never get hit.
The Dice Throne Hero Pack Moon Elf is the heroine who turns dueling into a geometry problem. Longbow, explosive arrows that pierce any armor, and an evasion ability that throws anyone trying to hit her into a crisis. Designed by Nate Chatellier, Gavan Brown, and Manny Trembley, it's a single hero pack for the Dice Throne system.
Roll your five lunar dice up to three times and activate board abilities: Longbow, Exploding Arrow, Entangling Shot, Blinding Shot. Then comes Lunar Eclipse!, the Ultimate that no one can stop. Meanwhile, you accumulate Evasive tokens: when your opponent attacks you, you roll a die and simply... take no damage.
The Moon Elf has a complexity of 2 out of 6 on the official Dice Throne scale: she is the second most accessible heroine in the series, the historical opponent of the Barbarian in the Battle Box that introduced the game to the world. Simple to learn, frustrating to face.

Your arsenal
What you bring to the Mad King's arena
The lunar dice
Five custom dice with bows, moons, and footsteps. Up to three rolls per turn: lock what you need, reroll the rest.
The hero board
Longbow, Demising Shot, Exploding Arrow, Entangling Shot, Blinding Shot, Missed Me. And at the bottom, Lunar Eclipse!, the Ultimate that cannot be prevented.
The dedicated deck
Volley!, Moon Magic!, Evade and others: cards to pay with combat points to power up the board and manipulate the dice.
Evasive, Blind, Entangle
Dodge blows by rolling a die, blind enemy abilities, immobilize and remove a roll. You control the duel, even on other players' turns.
"Look deep into the moon, for victory lies there." Your opponent is still trying to figure out how to hit you.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Fifty life points and a distance to keep
I open the board, set up the life counter, take the five moon dice. Across the table, someone wants to get close. My whole job, for the next twenty minutes, is to stop them.
The first hit that doesn't even land
He attacks me. I have an Evasive token: I roll a die, it comes up two, I take nothing. Zero damage. I watch him re-read the card to see if he made a mistake. He made no mistake. It's just the Moon Elf.
Blinded, immobilized, marked
Entangling Shot takes away one of his rolls. Blinding Shot makes his ability fail. The Targeted token increases the damage he will take. His turn still exists, technically. But it's not very useful anymore.
Lunar Eclipse!
Five moon symbols on the five dice. It cannot be prevented, cannot be dodged, cannot be responded to. The opponent puts their cards on the table and just watches as I count the damage. The whole table stops talking.
Zero life points, twenty-two minutes
The counter reaches zero. He says it was dice luck. I say it was Evasive management. We shuffle the decks and start again — this time he wants to try the Moon Elf.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four phases that flow in less than two minutes. You learn by watching one turn, you master it by the third game.
Resolve active effects on the board, then draw a card and gain a combat point. It's the fuel for everything you'll do in the turn.
Spend combat points: permanently upgrade an ability, play cards like Moon Magic! or prepare your defense for your opponent's turn.
Roll the five dice up to three times, locking those that are useful. The combination activates a board ability — and the more moon symbols you collect, the closer you get to the Ultimate.
Last cards, last upgrades, discard excess hand. Then pass the dice — but not control: with Evasive and Missed Me, you play even on others' turns.
Why choose the Moon Elf
Six reasons to bring her to the arena
Evasive: the damage that doesn't land
You accumulate Evasive tokens and spend them to roll a die: with the right result, you negate all incoming damage. It's the ability that makes the other side of the table say "seriously?".
Blind: sabotaging the opponent's turn
A blinded opponent risks having their offensive ability completely fail. You don't reduce the damage: you cancel it before it even exists.
Entangle: one less roll
Three rolls are the heart of Dice Throne. Taking one away means forcing the opponent to settle — turn after turn, it's a slow torture.
Arrows that ignore armor
Exploding Arrow and Demising Shot combine damage and status: hit, mark the target with Targeted, and subsequent hits hurt even more.
Lunar Eclipse!, the Ultimate
Five moon symbols and the eclipse falls on the table: damage, Blind, Entangle, and Targeted all together. Ultimates cannot be prevented in any way.
Complexity 2, total compatibility
Second most accessible heroine in the series on the official 1-6 scale. Faces any Dice Throne hero: Season One, Season Two, Marvel Dice Throne.
How it ends
One way to win. One way to fall.
No scores, no final tally. You fight until someone runs out of life points — and the Moon Elf prefers that someone to always be the other one.
Victory
- Reduce the opponent's life points to zero — or the last one standing
- In 2v2, the team that eliminates both enemy heroes wins
- With the Moon Elf, you win by accumulating advantages: you dodge, blind, hit
Defeat
- Your life points reach zero: you're out of the arena
- You run out of Evasive tokens at the wrong time and all the damage comes in at once
- There's no consolation, but no waiting either: the rematch starts in two minutes
Add the Moon Elf to your arena and discover how much fun it is to win without being touched. Remember: you need at least two Hero Packs to fight.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Dice Throne Hero Pack Moon Elf
Can I play with this Hero Pack alone?
No, and it's best to say it right away. The Moon Elf Hero Pack contains everything needed for a single heroine: to fight, you need at least a second Hero Pack (or a Dice Throne box you already own). It's not a base box: it's designed for those who already have the system, or for those who are building it one hero at a time.
Don't the Moon Elf's dodges make games frustrating?
Evasive isn't automatic: you spend a token and roll a die, and it can go wrong. It doesn't cancel the duel, it makes it a resource management — how many dodges do I have, when do I use them, when do I accept the hit. If you prefer to decide everything yourself without the die's filter, Dice Throne in general is not for you. If you enjoy the idea of making your opponent swear with a well-timed dodge, the Moon Elf is the perfect choice.
Barbarian or Moon Elf: which hero to choose to start?
They are the two heroes with whom Dice Throne was born — the original Season One Battle Box pitted them against each other. The Barbarian is complexity 1: he just hits. The Moon Elf is complexity 2: she hits from a distance, dodges, and sabotages. If you get both, you have the most balanced and iconic duel in the series.
Is it compatible with other Dice Throne heroes?
Yes, with all of them. Dice Throne heroes are designed to face each other cross-game: Season One, Season Two, and Marvel Dice Throne mix freely, in 1v1, 2v2, or free-for-all.
How many players and how long does a game last?
The Dice Throne system supports 2 to 6 players — 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 2v2v2 or free-for-all — provided you have a Hero Pack for each participant. A battle generally lasts between 20 and 30 minutes, and it's rare to stop at the first one.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The text on the board and cards is in English, but the language is repetitive and strongly iconic: after one game, the symbols read themselves. Basic English is needed to play without hesitation.
