FroGames Card
Draw a card, play a creature. Someone laughs at your three-eyed frog. Then you play a Misfit into their collection and they stop laughing. The season changes, plans fall through, someone wins before you even know how.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
A creature collection race in the enchanted forest
Oddities is a light card game designed by A.K. Nelson and illustrated by Rihnlin for Twisted Branch Games, published in 2025. Funded on Kickstarter and developed in collaboration with the LongPack format, it features bizarre and adorable woodland creatures that players must collect in a frenetic competition.
The objective is simple: be the first to complete your collection. But each turn you choose between strengthening your tableau with new Oddities, sabotaging opponents by gifting them Misfits, or turning the tables with Quirks. Seasons change and limit which creatures you can play, forcing you to adapt your strategy and timing on the fly.

The Creatures of the Forest
What you find in the deck
Simple Oddities
The common creatures, the heart of your collection. They are worth 1 point each and have no special abilities, but they are the building blocks to reach 6 points and end the game.
Rare Oddities
Creatures with unique magical abilities that enhance your collection: extra draws, protections, synergies between creatures of the same type.
Mischievous Misfits
Mischievous creatures you play into others' collections to sabotage them: negative points, restrictions, barriers that complicate their strategies.
Quirks
Chaotic event cards that turn the game upside down: sudden rule changes, effects that affect everyone, surprises that break established plans.

How to Play
The flow of each round
Draw a card, choose one of four actions. Then the next player. The current season governs which creatures you can play.
At the start of your turn, you automatically draw the top card of the deck, increasing your options in hand.
Search (draw another card), Strengthen (play a creature to your collection), Sabotage (place a Misfit in another's collection), or Strike (play a Quirk for a global effect).
If you play a creature, it must have the current season icon or the universal icon. If it doesn't, you cannot play it and must choose something else.
When everyone has taken their turn, a new Season card is revealed, and the next round begins with new constraints on playable creatures.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The deck turns, creatures arrive
Deal 5 cards each, draw at the start of your turn, choose one of four actions. The first season is revealed: it immediately limits which creatures you can place. Someone plays a Simple Oddity and starts building.
First sabotage
Someone uses the Sabotage action and places a Misfit in the collection of the player ahead. Laughter, protests, betrayed glances. The 'take that' interaction is felt immediately.
The season changes
A new Season card comes out: suddenly the creatures you had in hand are no longer playable. You have to adapt, draw more, hope. Plans fall apart.
Quirk overturns the table
Someone plays the Strike action and reveals a Quirk: global effect, everyone must discard, or draw, or move cards. The game restarts from scratch, those who were close to victory curse.
Final dash to 6 points
Whoever reaches 6 points in their collection first ends the game. The last round is frantic: everyone places creatures, someone tries one last sabotage, but it's too late. Victory by one turn.

Good to Know Beforehand
Three things you need to consider
Drawing rules
Seasons change randomly, limiting which creatures you can place. If you don't draw the right creatures at the right time, you lose entire turns searching for compatible cards. Frustrating if you seek total control.
Heavy direct interaction
Sabotage and Quirks directly hit other players' collections. If your group hates 'take that' or you want to build in peace, this game will make you uncomfortable.
Variable duration from 15 to 60 minutes
The race to 6 points can end in 15 minutes with 2 focused players, or extend to 60 with 8 people sabotaging in a loop. It's hard to predict how long the evening will last.
🏆Victory and DefeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The first player to reach 6 points in their collection wins. Each creature is worth points, Misfits subtract them.
Victory
- Accumulate 6 points in your collection before others
- Use the abilities of Rare Oddities to speed up construction
- Protect your collection from enemy Misfits and Quirks
Elimination or defeat
- Finish second or worse when someone ends the game at 6 points
- Suffer too many Misfits and your collection is worth negative points
- Seasons block your cards in hand and you lose too many turns
If you're looking for a quick, scalable party game full of chaotic interaction, Oddities gives you all of this in a 121-card deck with adorable and mischievous creatures.

Oddities FAQ
What mechanics does Oddities use?
Oddities uses set collection (build a tableau of creatures), hand management (manage 5+ cards in hand), and take that (direct sabotage with Misfits and Quirks). Seasons add a layer of variable constraints.
Does it work well with 8 players or is it better with fewer?
Oddities scales from 2 to 8, but with more than 6 players, downtime increases and chaos can become unmanageable. The ideal is 3-5 to balance speed and interaction. With 2, it's more tactical; with 8, it's pure unpredictable party game.
Can 8-year-olds really play?
Yes, the game is designed for all ages with quick-to-teach rules and clear icons on each card to identify the type. The 8+ age is realistic if children are okay with being sabotaged and losing control over their collections.
How long does a game really last?
It depends on the number of players and the use of sabotages. With 2-3 players and few Misfits, you can finish in 15-20 minutes. With 6-8 players constantly sabotaging each other, it easily reaches 45-60 minutes.
Is it available in Italian?
No, the edition sold on FroGames is in English. The cards have many icons, and the abilities of Rare Oddities and Quirks require text. A basic knowledge of English is needed to play without continuous slowdowns.
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who designed it, who publishes it - and what else they've done.
Oddities is a competitive card game for 2-8 players, lasting 15-60 minutes, ages 8+, designed by A.K. Nelson for Twisted Branch Games in 2025.
