🐸 How pre-orders work

Si abbina bene con
The FroGames file
The same song starts for everyone. Everyone thinks of their own word. Then the dial is revealed simultaneously and you find out: were we on the same wavelength or not?
WHAT IS IT ABOUT
Everyone listens to the same song, but are we hearing the same thing?
Stereo Mind was created in 2022 by the minds of Silvergun and Sunhyuk Chae, Korean designers who turned musical listening into a social experiment. Featuring graphics by Wanjin Gill, published by Playte and brought to Italy by Cranio Creations, it is part of the L.BOARD series: compact games that explore new mechanics.
At the table, you scan a QR code, a song starts streaming, and everyone secretly chooses one word from six options. When you turn your dials all together, you find out if you were synced or not. Seven cards won = team victory. No discussion during listening: just intuition, feeling, and the hope that others heard what you heard.
What they say abroad
"Everyone’s listening to the same song, but are we hearing the same thing?"
— Playte
The idea is brilliant: turning listening into a wordless connection game. It works better than it sounds.

What's in the box
Four elements are enough
Song Cards
Each card has a QR code that links to an audio track. Six words are printed underneath: from "Energetic" to "Melancholic", from "Chaotic" to "Relaxing". Your mission is to choose the same one.
Selection Dials
Each player has their own dial numbered 1 to 6. During the listening, you rotate it in secret, then on three, everyone turns them together. If they match: a point.
Streaming QR Code
No CDs, no files: you scan the code with your smartphone, the stream starts and everyone listens from the same source. Requires a connection, but works everywhere.
Score Track
You mark the cards won as a team. Goal: seven out of seven for the perfect victory. Fewer than four? Maybe you don't know each other as well as you thought.

🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each round
Four steps, no discussion until the end.
One player reveals the first card from the deck and scans the QR code. The audio track starts streaming. Everyone listens from the same source, in absolute silence.
Each player turns their dial to the number corresponding to the word that best describes the track (1-6). No one speaks, no one looks at other players' dials. Just intuition.
On the count of three, everyone turns their dials toward the center of the table. If all numbers match = success, the card goes into the victory deck. Even one different number = failure.
Now you can talk. Explain why you chose that word, discuss your interpretations, laugh at absurd choices. Then move on to the next card until the deck is exhausted.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The first song starts
Someone scans the QR, a track no one knows starts playing. Total silence: everyone listens on their own, turns their dial in secret. There’s already someone smiling because "obviously it's this one".
The first reveal
Everyone turns their dial together on three. Three dials match, two don't. Someone explodes: "But how could you hear 'chaotic'? It was clearly energetic!". The debate begins: who is right, who is wrong, who heard something the others didn't catch.
Finding the rhythm
Third or fourth song: you start to understand how the group thinks. You discover that Marco always feels the rhythm, that Laura focuses on the emotion, that you tend toward the descriptive rather than the emotional. The team calibrates itself.
Perfect synchronization
An ambient, very long track starts. No one is sure. You turn the dials: all five on the same number. An explosion of joy, high-fives, "I KNEW IT!". That moment is worth the whole game.
End of the deck and verdict
Last card, count the successes. Six out of seven: almost perfect. Someone immediately suggests a rematch because "this time I know how you think". Spoiler: that's not true, but it's wonderful to try.
🐸Know this beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
Know this beforehand
Three things you must consider
Internet connection required
The tracks are streamed: you scan the QR and play from Spotify or equivalent platform. No WiFi or data = game stopped. It's not a major technical limitation, but camping or in a mountain hut it becomes a problem. Plan ahead.
Works best with 3-4
With five players, the probability of everyone converging drops: one person out of sync and the point is lost. The sweet spot is 3-4 people: different enough to surprise each other, few enough to reach an agreement. With two, it's almost telepathy.
Musical taste matters
If someone hates metal and another hates electronic music, certain tracks may generate more frustration than fun. It's better to play with those who share at least part of your musical background, otherwise it's more of a cultural clash than a game.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
Team victory and failure
There is no player elimination, only a collective final score.
Victory
- Conquer at least 7 cards out of all those played (perfect or near-perfect synchronization)
- 4-6 cards = good connection, but room for improvement
- Less than 4 = perhaps you don't know each other musically as well as you thought
Failure (cooperative)
- There is no elimination: every failed card is just a point lost for the team
- Below 4 cards, the group is struggling to synchronize
- The true failure is when someone gets offended by the differing interpretations (it happens)
The beauty of Stereo Mind lies entirely here: it’s not about who is right, but who succeeds in thinking like the others. And that, surprisingly, is much harder.

Stereo Mind FAQs
What mechanics does Stereo Mind use?
Simultaneous secret action selection, cooperative voting, and, broadly speaking, musical pattern recognition. There isn't a standard technical term for "guess what others are thinking through music", but that's the heart of it.
Does it work with people who don't know music or have different tastes?
It works better if the group shares at least part of the musical background. With totally opposite tastes (one listens only to classical, the other only to trap), synchronization becomes random. You don't need to be an expert, but you need a minimum of common emotional ground.
How long does a game really last?
It depends on how much you discuss after each card. If you play mechanically: 10 minutes. If you stop to explain why that song was "melancholic" and not "energetic": easily 20-25 minutes. The beauty is precisely in the post-listening debate.
Can I play offline or is internet strictly necessary?
You need a connection to stream the tracks via QR code. You can download the playlists in advance if the platform allows it (e.g., Spotify Premium), but basically it is designed to be online. It does not work in airplane mode.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes, this is the Italian edition from Cranio Creations. The six words on the cards are translated (Energetic, Melancholic, Chaotic, Relaxing, etc.), and the rules are in Italian. The audio tracks are instrumental or in various languages depending on the song.
The people behind the game
Who invented it, who illustrated it, who publishes it — and what else they have done.
Stereo Mind is a cooperative musical party game for 2-5 players, lasting 10-15 minutes, ages 8+. Designed by Silvergun and Sunhyuk Chae, published by Playte and distributed in Italy by Cranio Creations. The mechanic is based on simultaneous secret choice: each player listens to the same audio track (streamed via QR code) and selects one word from six options. If everyone converges on the same word, the group scores a point. Goal: conquer at least 7 cards as a team. Ideal as a filler for evenings with friends who share a passion for music, it requires an internet connection and works best with 3-4 players. Available on FroGames.it.
