The FroGames Review
Someone seizes the Sword of Power and declares their transformation. Someone else laughs evilly from the shadows. And meanwhile, the Castle changes hands three times in twenty minutes.
WHAT IT IS
He-Man vs Skeletor, finally in miniatures
Designed by Leo Almeida and Michael Shinall for CMON and Mattel, Masters of the Universe: The Board Game – Clash for Eternia brings to the table the war between Heroic Warriors and Evil Warriors that defined 80s cartoons. Detailed miniatures, a hex board, iconic dice: everything you need to recreate the battles in front of Castle Grayskull.
Choose your faction, roll your action dice, move your champions across the map, and use their unique powers to conquer or defend the Castle. You can play cooperatively against card-driven scenarios, or in a one-vs-many mode where one player commands Skeletor and his minions. Every game is a new battle for control of Eternia, with upgrades, line of sight, and tactical twists.
International buzz
"When Eternia is threatened by Skeletor and his vile minions, the noble Prince Adam holds aloft the Sword of Power and proclaims, "By the Power of Grayskull, I have the power!", transforming into He-Man!"
— CMON Global Limited
The miniatures are spectacular. The dice system keeps the tension high without sacrificing tactical choices.

Masters of the Universe: The Board Game – Clash for Eternia
The game provides solo play using cooperative scenarios against card-controlled opponents. The experience is tactically complete, but lacks the unpredictability and the back-and-forth of a human player controlling Skeletor as in the one-vs-many mode.
Your arsenal
What you find in the box
Hero Miniatures
He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and the other champions in detailed plastic. Each hero has stats, unique powers, and the potential for upgrades during the game.
Villain Miniatures
Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, and their minions. In one-vs-many mode, a player commands them; in cooperative play, they are managed by scenario cards.
Iconic Action Dice
Each face shows symbols: move, attack, defense, special powers. You roll them at the start of your turn and decide how to spend them. The die can save you or betray you.
Castle Grayskull
The Castle at the center of the map is the key objective in many scenarios. Whoever controls it gains powerful advantages, and it changes hands multiple times every game.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each round
Roll the dice, choose how to use them, move, and fight. Then it's the opponents' turn.
Each player rolls their dice and checks the symbols obtained: movement, attack, defense, special powers. These symbols are your actions for the turn.
Spend the dice symbols to move miniatures on the hex map, attack enemies in line of sight, activate unique powers, or use acquired upgrades.
Attacks are resolved by comparing symbols, distance, and line of sight. Special powers can cancel damage, move miniatures, or change control of key areas.
Check if anyone has completed the scenario objective (e.g., controlling Castle Grayskull for X turns, eliminating a key champion). If the game continues, pass the turn.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Deployment and first moves
Place the miniatures on the map, read the scenario objectives. Those playing the Heroes choose their champion; those controlling Skeletor are already smiling. The dice are rolled and the first pawns move towards Castle Grayskull. The wait is over.
The first clash
He-Man charges, the dice show attack symbols. Skeletor responds with a power that cancels half the hits. Someone curses the die. Someone else laughs. The battle has truly begun.
Castle Grayskull changes hands
The Castle is captured by the villains. The Heroes lose a key bonus and must rethink their strategy. Someone spends resources on an upgrade, someone else tries to reclaim key positions before it is too late.
The plot twist
A hero uses a special power at the right moment and turns the tide of the fight. Or a die betrays you and ruins everything. In any case, someone says "I don't believe it" out loud. This is the moment you will remember.
Victory or defeat
The last turn decides everything. Either the Heroes complete the objective, or Skeletor wins by a margin of one square. The miniatures are put back in the box, but the game keeps spinning in your head for a while.

Three things to keep in mind
The dice decide quite a lot
Even with the best strategy, an unlucky roll can ruin your turn. If you are looking for total control, this is not the right game. If you accept that the Power Sword isn't always enough, you'll have fun.
Line of sight and measurements
The hex system simplifies movement, but line of sight and distances must be checked every time. The first games slow down for this reason. After a couple of rounds, it becomes automatic.
Scenario-dependent balancing
Some scenarios favor one faction over the other, especially in one-vs-many mode. Don't expect perfect balance: the game focuses on the epic nature of the theme, not tournament symmetry.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the end rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Each scenario has specific objectives. Usually, it involves controlling Castle Grayskull, eliminating key champions, or completing timed missions.
Victory
- You control Castle Grayskull for the number of turns required by the scenario
- You eliminate the enemy champion indicated as the primary target
- You complete the cooperative mission within the turn limit (in solo/coop mode)
Defeat
- All Heroes are eliminated from the field (cooperative)
- The event deck runs out before completing the objective (cooperative)
- Skeletor completes his scenario objective (one-vs-many)
Masters of the Universe returns to the table with dice, miniatures, and battles for Castle Grayskull. If you loved the cartoons, this is the evening you've been waiting for. Available at FroGames.it

Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Masters of the Universe: The Board Game – Clash for Eternia
Do I need to know the '80s cartoons to play?
No. The rules are standalone and the powers are explained on the cards. If you know He-Man and Skeletor, you will enjoy the theme more, but the game works even without nostalgia: it is a tactical dungeon crawler with miniatures and dice.
Is it better cooperative or one-vs-many?
It depends on the group. The one-vs-many mode is more dynamic and unpredictable, because Skeletor is controlled by a human player. The cooperative is great for those who prefer to play together against the scenario, but it loses a bit of tactical variety.
How much does luck of the dice matter?
A lot. The dice decide how many actions you have and what kind. You can mitigate with upgrades and powers, but a terrible roll limits you significantly. If you are looking for a game where the most skilled player always wins, look elsewhere.
What mechanics does Masters of the Universe: The Board Game – Clash for Eternia use?
Dice rolling (die icon resolution), hex grid movement, variable player powers, scenario/mission objectives, cooperative or one-vs-many, line of sight, variable set-up.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes. The edition for sale on FroGames is in Italian, with the rulebook, cards, and components fully localized by Asmodee.
