The FroGames Card
You are a commoner with a dagger and hunger. You can become an archer, a thief, an orator. Or simply die a miserable death in a forest. Bohemia in 1403 makes no allowances.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
A medieval adventure where you write the story
It's 1403, and the Kingdom of Bohemia is in political crisis. Kings and nobles fight power wars, while common people seem powerless. But change is in the air. Vlaada Chvátil (Galaxy Trucker, Codenames) and Tomáš Holek (Sanctum, Lost Ruins of Arnak) join forces for the first time, officially adapting the award-winning video game by Warhorse Studios. Illustrations by a team of ten artists coordinated by Jiří Mikovec.
You start as a commoner dressed in rags, with only a dagger. But you can become a skilled archer, a cunning thief, a persuasive orator. The game uses a deck-building system with skill tests to steal, fight, persuade, hunt, gather herbs. Choose three main storylines from the cities on the map: help with wedding preparations, investigate a brutal attack in Neuhof, or race against time before a deadly disease wipes out a village. Every game is different. The world is open, the consequences are yours.
What they say abroad
A first look that promises unprecedented narrative depth. Chvátil and Holek have translated the video game's open world into coherent tabletop mechanics: multiple tests, character progression, intertwining modular storylines. The stakes are high.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game
The game includes an official solo mode in the basic rules. The open-world nature and character progression work fully alone. It loses the interaction with other players in shared storylines, but personal quests and exploration remain intact.
What you find in the box
Four elements that build your journey
Skill Cards
Skill cards to buy with experience. Specialize in combat, thievery, persuasion, hunting. Skill tests require the right cards: stealing without training is guaranteed failure.
Equipment
Weapons, armor, clothes, various items. Hunting deer without a bow is a bad idea. Impressing someone dressed in dirty rags is impossible. Equipment matters as much as skills.
City Storylines
Three main storylines chosen from nine total before the game. Each city offers three different plots: weddings, investigations, epidemics. Your actions influence how they progress and conclude.
Side Quests
Secondary missions from local commoners. Helping with their problems earns you experience and resources. Some unlock hidden opportunities, others simply pay.

🎲How to PlayThe rules in four steps▼
How to Play
The flow of each turn
Each turn represents an in-game time segment, day or night. The system is open: you choose what to do.
Move your token on the map using resources. Decide where to go: cities, villages, special locations. Each place offers different actions (merchants, quests, encounters). You can also stay put and train.
When attempting an action (stealing, fighting, persuading, hunting), take a test. Play skill cards from your deck and/or roll dice. Equipment modifies the results. Success or failure has narrative and mechanical consequences.
Earn experience by completing quests or successful actions. Spend experience to buy new skill cards (open draft). You can specialize or remain versatile. Equipment is bought with money from merchants.
If you are in a city with an active storyline and have taken relevant actions, the plot advances. Read new narrative sections, unlock events, make decisions that influence the final outcome. Some storylines have timers: if you don't act, they worsen.
⏱️Your First GameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choices before starting
Open the map, choose three storylines from the nine available — one per city. Read the introduction to each. A wedding in Rattay, an epidemic in Rovna, an investigation in Neuhof. Already here, each table plays a different game. Take your starter deck: you are a commoner, with little.
First steps in the open world
Your first turn: decide where to go. You can move towards a city, explore, look for side quests in villages. You encounter guards, drunkards, locals. Some offer opportunities, others problems. You test your first skills: stealing an item, convincing someone. The dice often betray you at the start.
Building the character
Complete a side quest, gain experience. Trade it for skill cards. Choose a path: archer, thief, orator. Buy equipment from the merchant. Suddenly tests become easier. You start to look like someone, no longer a commoner with a dagger.
Intersecting storylines
One of the three main plots enters a critical phase: someone asks for your help, time is running out, decisive action is needed. You make a choice that changes the outcome of the storyline. Meanwhile, another player solves a different quest in the same city. Your actions intertwine, without direct competition.
End of game and summary
The storylines conclude according to your choices. Read the epilogues: was the wedding a success? Was the epidemic stopped? Was the attack avenged? You count points (connections, objectives, resources), but what you remember are the emergent stories. Each player experienced a different Bohemia.

Three honest things
The box says 120-320 minutes. This is not an optimistic range: a full game with developed storylines can easily exceed 4 hours. It's not a filler. It requires time, a clear table, and aware players. If you're looking for games under 2 hours, this is not the game.
Deck-building + multiple tests + modular storylines + open world: these are four interwoven systems. The rulebook is not yet public, but the estimated complexity is high (probably BGG weight above 3.5). The first game with explanation might take 45-60 minutes just for setup and rules.
The game doesn't tell you what to do. You can ignore storylines and become a horse thief. You can focus on one city. This freedom is mechanical, not just narrative: no forced paths, no "you must do X" phase. For some it's a dream, for others choice paralysis. If you prefer clear step-by-step objectives, it might be disorienting.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The game is competitive but not conflictual: you win through your achievements, not by hindering others.
Victory Conditions
- Victory points accumulated from completed storylines (positive outcomes are worth more)
- Important connections established with nobles and influential characters
- Resources, equipment, and skills acquired during the game
Obstacles and Failures
- Storylines failed due to lack of action or wrong choices (fewer points)
- Critical tests failed that close opportunities or damage reputation
- Resources squandered without investment in character progression
The winner is the one who has left the deepest mark in 1403 Bohemia. But in the end, you will count the stories, not the points.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Kingdom Come: Deliverance – The Board Game
What mechanics does Kingdom Come: Deliverance use?
The game combines deck-building (build your skill card deck), hand management (manage skill cards), skill tests with cards and dice, area movement (move on the map), contracts (side quests), and variable setup (choose 3 storylines out of 9). It's an adventure-euro hybrid with a strong narrative emphasis.
Do I need to know the video game to play?
No. The game is an official adaptation but works standalone. Knowing the video game adds familiarity (locations, characters, atmosphere), but all necessary information is in the board game. In fact, those familiar with the video game will have to accept that the mechanics are different.
How competitive is it? Can I sabotage other players?
It's competitive on final points, but not conflictual. You cannot attack other players, steal their resources, or directly block their actions. You win by doing better than them in storylines, side quests, and character progression. Interaction is indirect: one develops a storyline in one way, another in another, but they don't hinder each other.
Does it play well solo?
Yes. The game includes an official solo mode in the base rules. The open-world structure and character progression work fully on their own. You lose interaction with other players on shared storylines, but personal quests, exploration, and narrative choices remain intact. Estimated solo rating: 4/5.
Is it available in Italian?
The edition sold on FroGames is in English, published by Czech Games Edition. There is currently no announced Italian localization. The game has significant text (storylines, side quests, skill cards), so good comprehension of written English is required.
