The FroGames card
You're about to take a punch that would wipe you out. Luke doesn't budge. The deck loads up on tough, the villain phase arrives, and what seemed like a certain KO... bounces off. Still standing.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
An indestructible hero serving the Defenders
Luke Cage arrives in Marvel Champions: The Card Game as a Hero Pack dedicated to one of Marvel's most iconic Defenders. Unjustly imprisoned, Carl Lucas was subjected to an experimental treatment that gave him superhuman strength and impenetrable skin. Now, as Luke Cage, he fights crime in Harlem alongside his fellow Defenders. Designed by Tony Fanchi and Aaron Haltom, this pack brings a hero to the table designed to resist and protect.
This Hero Pack includes a 40-card pre-built deck with 15 signature cards and a focus on the Leadership aspect. His indestructible skin allows him to accumulate any number of tough status cards, turning him into a tank that absorbs damage and leads allies into battle. Luke shines when he can lead his fellow Defenders in keeping New York safe, with a deck that emphasizes the team protecting each other.

Marvel Champions LCG – Luke Cage (Marvel Champions: The Card Game – Luke Cage Hero Pack)
Marvel Champions officially supports solo play from the core set. Luke Cage, with his defensive mechanics and Leadership focus, promises a complete experience even alone: the player controls both the hero and allies, managing group protection. It might lack the tactical interaction of multiplayer (e.g., protecting another struggling player), but the core loop remains intact.
What's in the pack
15 signature cards and a complete Leadership deck
Indestructible Skin
Luke can accumulate any number of tough status cards, making him the only hero who can stack defenses without limit. Every hit taken is a hit your allies don't have to endure.
Metal Bracers
Two copies in the deck, each reducing incoming damage from any source. Extra defensive options and a way to preserve tough against weak minions. Note: they don't block self-inflicted damage.
Iron Fist
The Iron Fist ally can use his ATK to reduce damage when defending, blocking multiple attacks against the team. An ally designed to last and protect.
Leadership Cards
A complete assortment of Leadership cards that encourages leading allies into battle, with an emphasis on the Defenders as a team that protects each other. Group-focused build.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each round (standard Marvel Champions)
Luke Cage follows the standard Marvel Champions structure: player phase (actions, attacks, thwart), villain phase (threat, attacks, reveals). The difference is how you survive the villain phase.
Play cards from your hand (allies, upgrades, events), attack the villain, or remove threat from schemes. Luke can change form (alter-ego to recover or hero to fight) and manage resources. Focus: build the ally board and accumulate tough.
The villain activates: adds threat to the main scheme, attacks Luke (this is where accumulated tough comes in), and reveals encounter cards. Each tough consumed absorbs one attack. Metal Bracers reduce extra damage. The goal is not to collapse.
Leadership allies can defend for you, attack, or remove threat. Iron Fist can defend using ATK. Luke protects the team, the team puts pressure on the villain. Crucial timing: when to sacrifice an ally, when to use a tough.
Discard down to hand limit, draw to refill. If the main scheme reaches its threshold, you lose. If the villain reaches zero HP, you win. Each round is a balance between offensive pressure and defensive survival. Luke excels at the latter.

What it promises at the table
Not the rules. The experience we expect.
Deck setup
Open the pack, 40 pre-built cards ready to go. No deckbuilding for the first game: shuffle, choose a scenario from the core set, and Luke is ready to take on the villain. The Defenders are waiting.
First threats
The villain activates, minions arrive, and Luke begins to accumulate tough. His indestructible skin charges up: each tough is a resource, a defense, a way to stay on your feet. You start to understand: this hero doesn't go down easily.
Leadership in action
You play Iron Fist, then another ally, then an upgrade that powers them up. The table fills with Defenders protecting each other. Luke leads, allies strike, and pressure on the villain increases. This is when you understand what Leadership means.
The decisive attack
The villain launches a devastating scheme. Another hero would crumble. Luke, with four tough accumulated and Metal Bracers ready, takes it all. Zero damage. Allies counterattack. This is the turn that decides the game.
Victory or defeat
If you win, it's because Luke held the line while allies did the dirty work. If you lose, it's because the threat rose too quickly or the deck didn't give you the right cards. In any case, you'll want to play again. Immediately.

Three important things
Core Set Required
This is a Hero Pack, not a standalone product. You need the Marvel Champions: The Card Game core set to play. The pack only includes Luke Cage, his 15 signature cards, and a pre-built Leadership deck. Scenario, villain, basic rules: all in the core set.
Specialized in defense
Luke is the ultimate tank: he accumulates tough, absorbs damage, protects. But he's not an explosive attacker. If you're looking for a hero who finishes games in a few turns with offensive combos, this isn't the right pack. Luke holds the line, he doesn't break through it.
Defenders Synergy
The deck is optimized for playing with other Defenders (Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil). Some cards promise bonuses if you have the Defender trait. Does it work alone? Yes. Does it explode with Jessica Jones on the table? Probably also. Consider the pack part of a broader line.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
Victory and defeat in Marvel Champions
Marvel Champions has clear conditions: defeat the villain before the scheme reaches its threshold or the encounter deck runs out.
Victory
- Reduce the villain's HP to zero through attacks during the player phase
- Complete the main objective of the scenario (varies depending on the villain)
- Survive long enough to exhaust the villain's options (rare)
Defeat
- The main scheme reaches the indicated threat threshold
- Luke Cage reaches zero HP and cannot recover
- The encounter deck runs out (acceleration too high)
Luke Cage promises to be the hero who never falls. Perfect for those who want to lead the Defenders, absorb impossible damage, and hold the line while allies do the rest. August 2026: we'll see if he delivers.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Marvel Champions LCG – Luke Cage (Marvel Champions: The Card Game – Luke Cage Hero Pack)
Can I play this pack without the Marvel Champions core set?
No. The Luke Cage Hero Pack is an expansion: it only includes the hero, his signature cards, and a pre-built deck. To play, you need the core set (with scenario, villain, basic rules, tokens), and knowledge of how Marvel Champions works. It is not a standalone product.
How does Luke Cage's unlimited tough mechanic work?
Normally heroes can only have one tough at a time. Luke Cage breaks this rule: he can accumulate any number of tough status cards. Each tough absorbs an attack. This means you can stack 3-4-5 tough and take waves of damage without taking HP. It's his unique signature mechanic.
Is Luke Cage a suitable hero for starting with Marvel Champions?
It depends. If you already have the core set and have played a few games, Luke is accessible: clear mechanics (defense, tough, Leadership). If you are new to the game, start with the core heroes (Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Iron Man) to learn the basics. Luke shines when you already know how to manage threat and allies.
What mechanics does Marvel Champions LCG – Luke Cage use?
The game uses hand management (hand and resource management), card drafting (deck building), action point allowance (limited actions per turn), and variable player powers (each hero has unique abilities). Luke Cage focuses on accumulating tough status, Leadership (allies), and cooperative defense.
What language is this edition in?
The edition sold on FroGames is in Italian, published by Asmodee Italia. Cards, rulebook, and components are fully localized. Marvel Champions LCG enjoys continuous support in Italian for all main expansions and Hero Packs.
