What it is
Four heroes, one throne
For a thousand years, the Mad King has awaited a worthy opponent on his throne. Dice Throne Starter Set is the perfect entry point into the dice and card duel by Roxley Games: take control of one of four heroes — Barbarian, Moon Elf, Pyromancer, and Shadow Thief — and challenge your opponents to the very last health point.
Each hero rolls their own dice, plays their own cards, and wins in a completely different way: brute force, ranged precision, explosive damage, or poison and stealth. You aren't learning just one strategy — you're learning four, each distinct from the others.
Rules that are quick to explain, with the first game already playable, yet with enough tactical depth to keep people arguing for years about who really has the strongest hero.
You don't just roll the dice and hope. You roll the dice and decide: which card to play, when to reroll for defense, and when to spend Combat Points for the move that changes everything.
The secret of Dice Throne in one line
The table holds its breath with every roll, then explodes when the perfect combo hits at just the right turn.

Dice Throne Starter Set
Who you can play
Four heroes, four ways to win
Each hero has their own dice, cards, and battle plan. You aren't just choosing a character — you're choosing how you want to play.
Barbarian
No complicated plans: he hits hard and hits often, stunning the opponent blow after blow. The most direct hero of the set — perfect for a first game.
Moon Elf
Shoots arrows from a distance, dodges with agility, and disables opponent moves before they even land. Tactics, not brute force.
Pyromancer
A glass cannon that lives by Fire Mastery: the more energy she accumulates, the hotter her attacks burn. Defense is almost non-existent — she must strike before being struck.
Shadow Thief
Plays the long game: poisons, hides in the shadows, and strikes when the opponent least expects it. The most complicated plan of the set — and the most devastating, if pulled off.
Your arsenal
What you control in every duel
Custom dice
Each hero rolls dice with their own custom faces, designed for their specific fighting style.
Tailored action cards
Each dice combination activates different offensive, defensive, or ultimate moves for each hero.
Combat Points
Accumulate CP as you play and use them for special abilities that can flip the clash in an instant.
Status tokens
Poison, stun, burn: status effects stack up and change the flow of the battle.
Four heroes, one throne. Only one can remain standing.
A duel in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The clash.
Choosing heroes
Everyone chooses their fighter: some rely on brute force, others on ranged precision. Dice are distributed, cards are shuffled. No one knows yet who will strike first.
The first roll
The dice roll across the table. A perfect combination, a satisfied grin: the first offensive card is played and the duel truly ignites.
The desperate defense
The opponent re-rolls their dice hoping to mitigate the incoming blow. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't — and the tension at the table rises with every revealed face.
The combo that changes everything
A rare dice sequence, an Ultimate card drawn at the right time: damage piles up in a single hit. The table holds its breath.
Only one hero remains standing
Life points drop to zero. The winner gathers the dice for a rematch — because with four different heroes, no duel ever ends exactly the same way.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four quick phases that repeat every turn. Learn it in minutes, master it battle after battle.
The active player rolls 5 dice, with up to 3 re-rolls to seek the best combination to match their cards.
Based on the result obtained, you choose which card to activate: direct attack, status effect, or special ability.
The player being attacked can re-roll their defensive dice to reduce incoming damage, if the card allows it.
Draw new cards, earn Combat Points, and update active status effects before the next turn.
Why it's different from the rest
Six mechanics that make a difference
Four radically different heroes
Barbarian, Moon Elf, Pyromancer, and Shadow Thief play in completely different ways: brute force, ranged control, area damage, and stealthy poison.
Dice plus cards, not just pure dice
Dice results open options, they don't impose them. Cards transform luck into tactical choice, turn after turn.
Combat Points as a resource
Every turn you build CP to spend on special abilities that can flip a clash already in progress.
Duel-changing status effects
Poison, stun, vulnerability: status effects add a level of depth beyond simple damage.
From 1v1 to team battles
Direct duels, two-on-two clashes, or full free-for-alls: the mode adapts to the table.
Rules learned in minutes
Quick setup and the first hand is playable almost immediately: perfect for those who want intense clashes without an endless manual.
How it ends
One throne, only one hero left
Whether it's a 1v1 duel or a team battle, the principle doesn't change: outlast the opponent or don't last at all.
Victory
- Bring the opposing hero's life points to zero before it happens to you
- In team battles, the last team with at least one hero standing wins
- Each hero wins by leveraging their own style: force, control, damage, or poison
Elimination
- Your hero runs out of life points and is eliminated from the clash
- In team modes, you can continue to encourage your remaining teammates
- The next duel can flip everything: switch heroes, start over
Dice Throne Starter Set is the most direct way to discover why thousands of players still challenge each other today, hero against hero.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Dice Throne Starter Set
Is Dice Throne just luck with dice?
No. The dice open options, but you choose which card to play, when to re-roll on defense, and how to spend Combat Points. Luck matters, but decisions matter more.
With only four heroes, isn't there a risk of getting bored after a few games?
The four heroes in this starter set — Barbarian, Moon Elf, Pyromancer, and Shadow Thief — have such different playstyles that every matchup completely changes the duel. And the Dice Throne universe expands with other heroes sold separately.
How many players are needed to start?
2 players are enough for a direct duel. With this starter set, you can play up to 4, in free-for-all mode or 2 vs 2 team mode.
Do I need to know English to play?
Cards and rules are in English. The icons are clear and intuitive, but basic knowledge of the language helps to read the card text.
How long does a game last?
A single duel is played in about 20-30 minutes. With multiple rounds, team challenges, or an elimination night, a full session can take up to 90-120 minutes.
Is it suitable for those who have never played tactical dice games?
Yes. The basic rules are learned in minutes and the first hand is already playable. Depth comes with experience, it's not required to start having fun right away.
