The FroGames Card
The fever rises. Nails lengthen. Allies look away as you transform. Then the moment comes: lose control or win the battle. Never both.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The curse that makes you stronger, and more dangerous
Fur and Fang is an expansion for The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era, the cooperative adventure and character building game by Chip Theory Games set in the Second Era of Tamriel. It introduces the Afflicted skill lines: lycanthropy and vampirism, two curses that transform your hero into something powerful and uncontrollable.
Werewolves sacrifice sanity and control to unleash devastating fury and brute force. They must transform to activate their most powerful abilities, but when they do, they lose access to other skill lines and accumulate fatigue. Vampires follow a different path: they don't focus on direct damage, but on supportive and controlling vampiric abilities like Mist Form and Hypnosis, dominating the battlefield from the shadows.

First look at a newly announced expansion. BGG data is limited (six votes, no designer published), so this card is based on the official description. We will update it when we have more concrete information from the published game.

The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era – Fur and Fang
The base game officially supports solo play (1-4 players), so the expansion inherits that structure. The Afflicted lines introduce personal mechanics (transformation, fatigue, vampiric abilities) that also work solo, although they lose the cooperative element of vampiric support.
The two curses
What you can become
Werewolf
Afflicted skill line based on multiple battle forms and devastating damage. You must transform to activate powers, but when you do, you lose access to other abilities and accumulate fatigue. Zero control, maximum violence.
Vampire
Afflicted skill line that doesn't focus on direct damage but on controlling vampiric abilities. Mist Form makes you intangible, Hypnosis bends the will of others. You are a creature of the night who supports the group from the shadows.
Transformation
The werewolf must transform to access its powers. When it does, it loses access to other skill lines. It is a moment of choice: sacrifice versatility to unleash fury.
Fatigue and curse
The Afflicted skill lines come with a price. The werewolf produces a lot of fatigue with its explosions. The vampire is created by Molag Bal, and its soul is in conflict with its mortality.

How to play
Integrate the Afflicted skill line
Fur and Fang does not change the flow of the base game, but adds new skill lines with unique mechanics.
During character creation or evolution, choose whether to become a werewolf or a vampire. Each has different abilities, conditions, and costs.
The werewolf must transform to access powers. When doing so, they lose access to other skill lines but gain devastating battle forms and massive damage.
The vampire does not transform, but utilizes control and support abilities such as Mist Form (intangibility) and Hypnosis (manipulation). Less damage, more tactical versatility.
The Afflicted skill lines come with a cost. The werewolf accumulates fatigue with its bursts. The vampire carries a permanent soul curse. Power has a price.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The choice of curse
Choose your Afflicted skill line. Werewolf or vampire? Brute strength or control from the shadows. The choice redefines your hero and changes your role in the group. Those who know you from the base game will have to adapt.
First transformation
The werewolf activates the transformation. Other skill lines disappear from your sheet. Now you are just fury and claws. The group understands that you have become something else: devastating, but unpredictable.
The vampire in the shadows
You use Mist Form to escape a fatal blow. Hypnosis bends the will of a key enemy. The group doesn't see you explode like the werewolf, but every round you survive thanks to you.
The price of the curse
The werewolf's fatigue accumulates. The vampire feels the conflict between soul and damnation. It's not free. The curse has made you strong, but now you must manage its burden or collapse.
End of session
You've finished the session. The werewolf saved the group twice, losing control both times. The vampire dominated the field unnoticed. Neither is the hero they once were.

Requires the base game
Fur and Fang is an expansion. You must own The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era to play it. It is not standalone. The base game is a significant investment (12+ hour campaign, premium Chip Theory components).
Limited data, uncertain evaluation
The game has only 6 ratings on BGG and no published designer. We don't yet know how balanced the Afflicted skill lines are compared to the rest, nor how complex they are to manage in long campaigns. First impression, not certainty.
Irreversible choice mid-game
Werewolf or vampire: two opposite paths. The werewolf gives up versatility for fury, the vampire trades damage for control. If you choose poorly for your style, you'll realize it hours into the campaign.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
Victory and defeat
Fur and Fang integrates into the base game's victory/defeat system. The new skill lines change how you achieve objectives, not what you need to achieve.
Victory
- Complete session objectives using Afflicted abilities
- Survive by managing the cost of the curse (fatigue, soul conflict)
- Utilize lycanthropy or vampirism at the right moment to save the group
Defeat
- The werewolf's fatigue paralyzes them at key moments
- The vampire loses control of the field and the group collapses
- Fail objectives because you chose the wrong skill line for your role
Two curses, two opposite ways to play. A choice that redefines your hero. It's not an extra ability. It's another game.

FAQ about The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era – Fur and Fang
Does Fur and Fang require the base game?
Yes. Fur and Fang is an expansion for The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era. You must own the base game (1-4 player cooperative game, 12+ hour campaign, premium Chip Theory components). The expansion only adds the new Afflicted skill lines; it is not a standalone game.
Can I be both a werewolf AND a vampire simultaneously?
BGG data and the official description do not specify this. In Elder Scrolls lore, lycanthropy and vampirism are separate and often incompatible curses. Presumably, you will have to choose one of the two Afflicted skill lines per character, but we will confirm once we have the complete rulebook.
How complex is managing the Afflicted skill lines?
We don't know for sure yet. The base game has an unrated weight on BGG and only 6 ratings. The Afflicted skill lines introduce transformations, multiple forms, fatigue management, and vampiric abilities. On paper, it seems like an additional layer of complexity for players already familiar with the base game.
What mechanics does The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era – Fur and Fang use?
The expansion introduces Afflicted skill lines (lycanthropy and vampirism), transformation into battle forms, fatigue management, and vampiric control abilities (Mist Form, Hypnosis). It integrates with the base game mechanics: character building, tactical combat, cooperative session-based campaign.
Is it available in Italian?
No. The edition for sale is in English. The Elder Scrolls: Betrayal of the Second Era base game was published in English by Chip Theory Games. There are currently no official localized editions for either the base game or its expansions.
