The FroGames review
You've just lost to Cthulhu. Again. But this time you've unlocked a card that will change everything in your next run. Or at least that's what you tell yourself as you reset the deck.
WHAT IT IS
A cooperative roguelite deck-builder against the Great Old Ones
Rise of Myths: Cthulhu is a cooperative deck-builder designed by Ruiz Machuca and Joel Torres for Synergic Games, set in the universe of H.P. Lovecraft. You play as investigators who face monsters and Great Old Ones in a series of attempts, improving the deck and unlocking permanent progression between games.
This is the Arkham Pledge edition: it includes the base game in a Deluxe box, the Echoes of Darkness and Nightmare expansions, and all the stretch goals unlocked during the campaign. You therefore start with more investigators and more threats to face from the very first run, without having to look for anything else. The optional campaign add-ons (deluxe tokens, neoprene playmat, metal coins, and similar) are separate products.
Every run is different: randomly generated encounters and locations, increasing difficulty, and the certainty that, even if you lose, something will remain for next time. The cooperative system requires real coordination between players, not parallel solo play, while the investigators' health and sanity are tested by the creatures of the Mythos.
From the gaming experience
Losing here is not the end: it is how the game teaches you to build a better deck.
The secret of Rise of Myths: Cthulhu in one line
With Echoes of Darkness and Nightmare already in the box, the table fills with new investigators and new threats to face together.
What changes with the Arkham edition
Rise of Myths: Cthulhu
The game supports solo as an official mode, with dedicated upgrades mentioned in the demo material. Roguelite is a format that works very well alone, but loses the cooperative synergies that are declared as the heart of the game in multiplayer.
The elements in play
Cards, investigators, and cosmic horrors
Investigators
Each character has a starter deck, class cards, and unique powers. With Echoes of Darkness, the team expands with new investigators, each with different attributes and mechanics to face the horrors.
Great Old Ones
Cthulhu and the other Great Old Ones have their own mechanics and locations. Each boss is a different challenge, with dedicated cards that change the outcome of the final confrontation.
Locations and events
Arkham and other places to explore, generated randomly. Randomized events, common and elite enemies, and exploration cards keep the variety of each run high.
Permanent progression
Between one run and the next, you unlock new cards, relics, and upgrades. The deck improves even when you lose, and every attempt becomes a step forward against the chaos.

L'esperienza.
Setup e prime carte
Cinque minuti e sei dentro.
Primi incontri
I nemici comuni iniziano a comparire.
Vittoria o reset
O avete vinto, o siete caduti.

Incontri randomizzati, location casuali, carte pescate.
Servono giocatori abituati a coordinarsi.
🏆Vittoria e sconfittaCosa premia il finale▼
Come finisce
Come si vince e come si perde
Vittoria o sconfitta. In mezzo, progressi permanenti.
Vittoria

FAQ su Rise of Myths: Cthulhu
Cosa comprende l'edizione Arkham Pledge?
È cooperativo vero o solitario in parallelo?
Che meccaniche usa Rise of Myths: Cthulhu?
Serve sapere l'inglese? È disponibile in italiano?
