Open the door. The horde sees you. Someone screams "cover me," someone looks for ammo, someone counts the turns until the helicopter arrives. And in the end, no one remembers who did what: you only remember that you survived.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The city has fallen. You are the last ones standing.
Since 2012, Zombicide has been the quintessential cooperative zombie phenomenon: over 2 million copies sold worldwide, dozens of expansions, a community that never stops growing. This Second Edition (originally Zombicide: 2nd Edition) bears the consolidated signature of Raphaël Guiton, Jean-Baptiste Lullien, and Nicolas Raoult, with miniatures by Édouard Guiton and illustrations by Thierry Masson and Eric Nouhaut. CMON and Guillotine Games have refined the rules, updated the graphics, and perfected the experience: it is the definitive version of the formula that defined a genre.
Choose a survivor (mechanic, runner, cop, child...), take their unique skill cards, and traverse 25 scenarios linked by a branching campaign. Each round: you move, you search, you shoot, you hit. Then the zombies move towards the noise. And every zombie you take down levels you up: new skills, but also bigger hordes, faster zombies, bosses that don't die easily. The better you are, the more the game punishes you. It's pure cooperative: you win or lose together.
What they say abroad
"Zombicide remains the gold standard for accessible zombie survival on the tabletop."
Zombicide remains the benchmark for accessible tabletop zombie survival.
— The Dice Tower
The Second Edition doesn't revolutionize: it refines. The updated targeting priorities, the revised doors, the dark zones that hide the dead — these are small adjustments that remove frustrations and leave the adrenaline intact. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one more. If you've never tried it, now's the time.

Zombicide - Second Edition - Core Game (Zombicide: 2nd Edition)
The game officially supports solo play: you control multiple survivors alone, the zombie flow is identical. The experience is complete and the tension remains very high, but you lose the frantic discussions and mutual accusations that are the salt of multiplayer.
What you'll find in the box
Miniatures, maps, cards: the survivor's arsenal
Zombie and survivor miniatures
Dozens of detailed miniatures: walkers, runners, fatties, abomination. Six playable survivors, each with dedicated miniature and unique skill sets. CMON quality: ready for painting.
Modular map tiles
Double-sided modular board: urban districts, streets, buildings. Each scenario has a different setup. Dark zones hide zombies until you enter: you never know what awaits you.
Equipment and zombie card decks
Over 100 equipment cards: melee weapons, rifles, medkits, Molotov cocktails. Each card has clear stats (dice, noise, special effects). The zombie deck manages spawns: the more you kill, the more appear.
25-scenario campaign book
Branching campaign with narrative choices: your decisions open or close subsequent scenarios. Each mission has clear objectives, dedicated setup, and flavor text that contextualizes it. Hours and hours of gameplay.

🎲How to PlayThe rules in four steps▼
How to Play
The flow of each round
Players' turn, then zombies' turn. Simple, deadly, always the same until someone falls.
Each survivor has 3 actions: move, search for equipment, attack, trade items, open doors, use special abilities. Order matters: whoever makes the most noise attracts zombies. Decide together who does what.
Zombies move towards the closest survivor in their zone (or towards noise). Walkers 1 square, Runners 2 squares. If they are already on someone, they attack. Each attack = draw from wound deck: if you draw a skull, you're dead.
Draw a zombie card for each spawn token on the map. The card tells you type and quantity: the higher your level, the more arrive. Zombies appear in dark zones or at the edge of the map. They never stop.
Check objective: if completed, you win. Otherwise, start again from the players' turn. The game ends when you win, or when the last survivor falls.

A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Setup and first moves
Everyone chooses a survivor, takes their skill set, places the miniature on the map. Read the scenario objective (recover supplies, reach the helicopter, save civilians...). Draw the first equipment cards. The city is silent. For now.
First contacts
Open the first door. The zombies see you. Someone shoots, someone runs to find better weapons. The noise attracts more dead from the dark zones. Tension rises quickly: you have limited ammo and three walkers separate you from the objective.
The stakes rise
You've killed enough zombies to reach the yellow level. New abilities, but also fast runners spawning. The initial plan falls apart: someone has to sacrifice their turn to cover the group, someone else runs towards the objective. Discussions become frantic.
The critical moment
An abomination spawns in the wrong corner. A heavy weapon is needed to take it down, but whoever has it is on the other side of the map. Someone rushes in, rolls the dice, fails. The horde closes in. Everything is decided here: either you find a Plan B in 30 seconds, or it's game over.
Epilogue
If you win: collect rewards, unlock new scenarios, read the narrative paragraph explaining what happens next. If you lose: restart the scenario (or choose another campaign path). In both cases, someone tells the story of that die roll that saved you. Or sank you.
🐸What to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼

Three things you need to know before buying
The difficulty curve is brutal
The more zombies you kill, the harder the game becomes. Each survivor has a level tracker: start blue (easy), go yellow (medium), then orange (hard), then red (impossible). Spawns increase, stronger zombies arrive, bosses spawn more often. It's a loop: you're good? The game punishes you. This is the heart of the tension, but also the cause of the most frustrating defeats.
Dice decide life and death
Each attack = roll X dice (depends on the weapon), need Y to hit. A bad streak can ruin the perfect plan. You can mitigate with better weapons and abilities, but the dice remain the protagonist. If you're looking for a cooperative game where strategy always dominates, this is not it.
Long setup, many miniatures to manage
Each scenario requires 10-15 minutes of setup: build the map, place tokens, prepare decks, choose survivors. There are many miniatures and they need to be organized (consider a custom insert). Cleanup at the end of the game takes time. It's not a filler: it's a whole evening's commitment.
🏆Victory and DefeatWhat rewards the end▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Each scenario has a clear objective. Reach it before the last survivor falls, or start over.
Victory
- Complete the scenario objective (recover items, reach exit zone, eliminate specific boss, save civilians...)
- At least one survivor is still alive when the objective is completed
- Read the narrative paragraph, collect rewards, unlock subsequent scenarios in the campaign
Defeat
- All survivors are dead (each character has a wound track: depleted = eliminated)
- The objective becomes impossible to complete (e.g., too many zombies block the exit, necessary equipment lost)
- Decide to surrender and restart the same scenario with a different setup
Zombicide - Second Edition is not the most elegant cooperative game, nor the most balanced. But it's the one that always works, with anyone, from the first game to the last. And when you win by a hair's breadth, no one remembers the flaws.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Zombicide - Second Edition - Core Game (Zombicide: 2nd Edition)
What are the differences compared to the first edition of Zombicide?
Streamlined and updated rules: target priority for ranged attacks revised (now more intuitive), simplified door interactions, refined vehicle mechanics. Added dark zone (hide zombies until you enter). New miniatures (including child survivors), plastic dashboards instead of cardboard. Graphically cleaner. Those with the first edition can integrate old expansions without problems.
Is it really playable solo or do you need a group?
It is playable solo: you control 2-4 survivors by yourself, the zombie flow doesn't change. The tactical tension remains intact, but you lose the frantic discussions and the joy of blaming someone for a failed plan. It works, but multiplayer is the experience the game is designed for.
How long does a full campaign game last?
The campaign includes 25 branching scenarios. Each scenario lasts 60-90 minutes (plus setup). You don't play all of them in one campaign: narrative choices open/close paths. A full run requires 15-20 scenarios, so 20-30 total hours. You can play single scenarios without a campaign.
What mechanics does Zombicide - Second Edition use?
Pure cooperative, dice rolling, action points, modular board, variable survivor powers. Includes scenario-driven elements (missions with specific objectives) and a branching campaign. The dynamic difficulty scaling (the more you kill, the higher it goes) is the signature of the system.
Is this edition available in Italian?
Yes, this is the Italian edition published by Asmodee. Rulebook, cards, campaign scenarios: all in Italian. Miniatures are language-independent (no text).
