This Upgraded Components pack is the “premium” version of Wondrous Creatures : replaces most of the cardboard components with wood and metal upgrades, for a richer visual impact and a much more satisfying feeling at the table.
It doesn't change the rules: it changes the experience. More weight, more presence, more “click” when you take and move resources and tokens: it's the kind of upgrade you feel right from the first turn, especially if you play often and want a copy that feels truly definitive.
Inside you'll find a slew of premium components (eggs, energy, nets, tokens, and metal trophies) designed to replace their cardboard counterparts. Quick note: some pieces remain in the cardboard base (such as the exploration habitat tiles you add during the game and the 4 Lock Tokens).
