FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Three years of adjustments, balancing, and fixes. For those who experienced Avalon in its original form and want to see it at its best.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The definitive fix for previous editions of Tainted Grail
This Update Pack 2.0 gathers three years of feedback, errata, and improvements for previous editions of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. It's not a narrative expansion: it's a set of revised cards and rules to bring your core game, stretch goals, and add-ons up to the level of the 2.0 version released in 2023.
At the table, you get a more gradual difficulty curve, less punitive survival rules, a more accessible Story mode, and dozens of small fixes that eliminate ambiguities and problematic interactions. It also includes new save sheets for Age of Legends and Red Death, and PDFs with corrections to the exploration Journals.
What they're saying abroad
It's not narrative DLC. It's the patch many have been waiting for.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon — Update Pack 2.0
What's inside
Cards, sheets, and fixes
Revised Core Box cards
Modified Food, Rest, and Exhaustion rules. New Secret card to reactivate Menhirs. Balance changes to Combat, Diplomacy, Event, Item, and Skill cards.
Updated save sheets
Three copies of the new sheets for Age of Legends and Red Death. Corrections to Exposure rules, Armies, and problematic Achievements in Echoes of the Past.
Story Mode and difficulty
Clearer difficulty selection in setup. Story Mode made more accessible. Fast travel option unlocked during The Fall of Avalon.
Corrected PDF Journals
Hundreds of small corrections to the exploration texts of Fall of Avalon, Last Knight, Age of Legends, and Red Death. Includes fixes for the Camelot location and endings.
It doesn't fix everything, but it fixes enough. And if you love Avalon, that 'enough' makes a huge difference.
What really changes
The experience before and after the update
It's not just a fix. It's a rebalance.
Clearer Setup
Instead of flipping through the manual to figure out which difficulty to choose, you now have a guided selection. The game tells you what to expect from each mode. Small, but it reduces friction at the beginning.
Less Punishing Survival
The basic rules of Food and Rest were unforgiving: one wrong move and you'd enter a death spiral. Now the game breathes. You have more leeway to explore without feeling choked by resources every turn.
Rebalanced Cards
Dozens of revised cards: some that were too weak now work, others that were too strong have been toned down. No drastic changes, but millimeter adjustments that eliminate broken combos and useless choices.
Fast Travel
A fast travel system is unlocked in the Fall of Avalon campaign. Less tedious backtracking, more time for choices that matter. A luxury that changes the pacing in long sessions.
Corrected Journals
The Journal PDFs contain hundreds of fixes for typos, narrative ambiguities, and broken choices. They are not physical cards, but if you print or read from a tablet, the narrative experience is finally clean.
How to use it
Integrate the update into your existing game
You don't replace everything. You add the new cards, remove the old versions, print the PDFs if you want.
The pack includes a list of revised cards. You find the old versions in your game and set them aside. The new ones go into the decks in their place.
If you play Age of Legends, Red Death, or Echoes of the Past, replace the old sheets with the new ones included (three copies each).
The corrected Journals are digital. You can print them, read them from a tablet, or simply consult them when you encounter ambiguous passages in your physical copy.
Read the changes to Food, Rest, Exhaustion, and difficulty setup. They are small but structural: it's best to understand them before resuming the campaign.
What really improves
Six key areas of intervention
More humane survival curves
The original rules for Food and Rest were calibrated for masochistic players. The update softens them: you have more time to make decisions without constantly feeling on the verge of collapse. The game remains tough, but no longer arbitrarily punitive.
Refined first hour
The first chapters now provide more contextual hints, some classes gain their Rites more easily, and initial Events have clearer wording. If you gave up on Tainted Grail because the first sessions were opaque, this fix helps.
Fast travel for Fall of Avalon
It unlocks during the main campaign and allows you to skip repetitive movements. It's not unlimited teleportation, but it cuts down on unnecessary backtracking that slowed down long sessions.
Rebalanced cards
Dozens of Combat, Diplomacy, Item, and Skill cards have been tweaked: more precise wording, revised costs, balanced effects. No revolution, but many small corrections that eliminate broken combos and trap choices.
Corrected Journals (PDF)
Hundreds of fixes to exploration texts: typos, ambiguous choices, passages that referred to wrong sections. It also includes important corrections to the endings of Red Death and the Camelot location. These are PDFs, not physical cards, but they make a difference.
More accessible Story Mode
Story Mode has been made less punitive: perfect for those who want to enjoy the narrative without managing complex combat or resource grinding. An option that makes the game more inclusive without distorting it.
What you get
The tangible result
It's not an expansion. It's the version of the game you would have wanted to receive three years ago.
What improves
- More accessible and less frustrating first hours for new players
- Less punishing resource management, more room to explore and take risks
- Dozens of ambiguities and problematic interactions eliminated
What it doesn't solve
- Doesn't add narrative content: same story, same quests
- Corrected Journals are only PDFs, not reprinted physical texts
- Doesn't transform Tainted Grail into a light game: it remains challenging
If you own one of the early editions of Tainted Grail and want to play the most refined version, this pack is the official patch. It doesn't add magic, but it removes friction.
