FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
One box, two challenges, zero compromises. Play the first, then the second, then someone asks for the decider. And it never ends on the first round.
WHAT IT IS ABOUT
Two abstract head-to-head games in one compact box
Ice Duo is the brainchild of Andrew Looney, creator of the iconic Looney Pyramids which have traversed dozens of game systems since 1987. This box is a statement of intent: two complete, completely different games, with the same set of components. Twin Win is pure pattern matching and bluffing; IceDice is press-your-luck with dice and tactical stealing.
Each game is a quick and tense challenge. In Twin Win, you build pyramid stacks on a 3x3 grid trying to fulfill one of your two secret objectives. In IceDice, you roll dice to complete pyramid sets, and if you don't have enough on the table, you can steal from your opponent. Same material, two completely different souls.
What they say abroad
Two games in the same box have never been so different. And so compact.

Looney pyramids are the most versatile system ever created for abstract games.

What you'll find in the box
Simple components, dual use
Looney Pyramids
Three sizes, three colors. They are the heart of the system: they stack, they move, they get stolen. In Twin Win, they form vertical patterns. In IceDice, they become sets to complete.
Colored dice (IceDice)
They determine which pyramids you can take from the reserve. You roll, choose, roll again. Each additional die is both an opportunity and a risk: making a mistake means losing your turn.
Objective cards (Twin Win)
Everyone has two, secret ones. They show configurations of stacks to build on the 3x3 grid. Fulfilling one means winning. But revealing your intentions too soon is fatal.
3x3 Grid (Twin Win)
Nine spaces to build pyramid towers. Every move changes the landscape and can reveal your plans. The opponent watches, deduces, blocks.
In a few hours, you'll have played both. And someone will have already asked for a rematch. It always happens with Ice Duo.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choosing the game
Open the box, decide: Twin Win or IceDice? Some want a pure tactical challenge, some the thrill of the dice. Often both are played. Setup: 30 seconds.
The first moves
In Twin Win you start building stacks, trying not to reveal your objectives. In IceDice you roll the first dice: some go aggressive immediately, some wait. Everything still seems under control.
Someone figures something out
In Twin Win, the opponent guesses one of your objectives and starts blocking you. In IceDice, someone steals a crucial pyramid and the table heats up. The game tightens.
The decisive moment
In Twin Win, a move reveals everything: either you win on the next turn, or you've just handed over victory. In IceDice, someone rolls the dice one too many times and loses their turn. Laughter, cursing.
End of game
In Twin Win, someone completes a pattern and the game ends in 15 minutes. In IceDice, someone closes their third set and gets up from the table. Someone immediately asks for a rematch. With the other game.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Two games, two completely different structures. Both fast and direct.
Move a pyramid from one space to an adjacent one, or place a new one from the supply. Each move changes the grid and can reveal your plans.
If you have completed one of your two objective cards, you reveal it and win. Otherwise, pass your turn. The opponent observes, deduces, plans a counter-attack.
Roll all colored dice. Take the corresponding pyramids from the supply (or, if none, from the opponent). Then decide: stop or re-roll the remaining dice?
If you re-roll and don't get useful colors, the turn ends with nothing. If you stop, place the collected pyramids in your area. Complete three sets of three identical pyramids? You win.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Looney Pyramids System
Iconic components, used in dozens of different games for over 30 years. Three sizes, three colors, infinite combinations. Ice Duo uses them in two completely opposite ways: vertical pattern matching and horizontal set collection.
Secret objectives in Twin Win
You have two objective cards, you only need one to win. But every move you make on the grid can betray your intentions. The opponent reads, blocks, anticipates. It's pure deduction without words.
Press-your-luck in IceDice
Every extra die is a possibility and a risk. Push too hard and the turn ends empty-handed. Stop too early and the opponent overtakes you. Tension rises with each re-roll.
Direct pyramid theft
In IceDice, if the supply is empty you can take pyramids from your opponent. There's no diplomacy: you roll the dice, get that color, you take it away from them. The interaction is immediate and brutal.
Two games in 15 minutes each
Neither of them drags on. Twin Win ends when someone completes a pattern. IceDice ends when someone closes three sets. Both fast, intense, with no downtime.
One box, double the experience
Same set of components, completely different rules. One is tactical and cerebral, the other is adrenaline-fueled and random. You can play one, the other, or both sequentially. The value doubles.
How it ends
How to win in both games
Two completely different victory structures.
Victory
- Twin Win: complete one of your two secret objectives on the 3x3 grid
- IceDice: complete three sets of three pyramids of the same color and size
- Both: the game ends immediately when someone meets the victory condition
Fatal Errors
- Twin Win: you reveal your intentions too early and the opponent permanently blocks you
- IceDice: you push your luck too much with the dice and lose crucial turns, allowing the opponent to complete their sets
- Both: you underestimate direct interaction and fail to read your opponent's plans in time
Ice Duo is the pure essence of head-to-head: two games, zero compromises, twenty minutes total. One tactical, one random. Both fair.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Ice Duo
Do I have to play both games or can I choose one?
You can play only one of the two, they are completely independent. But most people end up playing both in the same evening: Twin Win for the tactical challenge, IceDice for the thrill of the dice. The box is designed for this.
How different are the two games?
Completely different. Twin Win is pure deduction: build patterns, hide objectives, block your opponent. IceDice is press-your-luck: roll dice, manage risk, steal pyramids. Same components, opposite experiences. That's the strong point of the box.
Are Looney pyramids compatible with other games?
Yes, there are dozens of games that use the same pyramid system (Looney Pyramids). Ice Duo is a complete standalone, but if you already have other Looney Labs boxes, you can mix the components to expand the possibilities.
How long does a full game last?
Twin Win: 10-15 minutes. IceDice: 15-20 minutes. Both are quick fillers, perfect for filling breaks or as a game night opener. Many play both sequentially, for a total of half an hour.
Is the game available in Italian?
This edition is in English, but language dependency is practically nil. Twin Win's objective cards are iconic, the rules can be explained in a few minutes. The manual is in English, but once you understand the rules, you won't need to consult it again.
