Who's the Cool Guy and who's the Dweeb? Find out in four lanes of chaos in the Land of Ooo.
What it's About
Finn and Jake's card game, finally at your table
In the "Card Wars" episode of Adventure Time, Jake begs Finn to play his favorite card game. Now that game actually exists — and you can step into the arena as Peppermint Butler or Magic Man.
On a four-lane battlefield, each player manages 2 Action Points per turn: summon Creatures, cast Spells, place Locations, activate FLOOP abilities. Bring your opponent's Life Points from 25 to 0 and you're the Cool Guy. Everyone else is a Dweeb.
Each set includes two ready-to-play 40-card themed decks, with original artwork from the series. The cards are fully compatible with all other Adventure Time Card Wars sets — build combos across different decks.
Two decks. Four lanes. Zero time wasted reading the manual — you'll figure it out by playing.
The secret of Card Wars in one line
Peppermint Butler sacrifices to win. Magic Man manipulates mana. Two opposing philosophies, only one possible victory.

Your Arsenal
What you find in each set
FLOOP Creatures
Summon monsters to the lanes and activate their special FLOOP abilities for devastating effects. Each creature has its own personality.
Spells and Locations
LavaFlats, UselessSwamp, NiceLands, SandyLands — Locations boost your creatures. Spells turn the tide of the game in one hit.
2 decks of 40 cards
Peppermint Butler and Magic Man in a box, ready to play. Original artwork from the series, mixable with the entire Card Wars line.
2 Action Points per turn
Each turn you manage only 2 AP. A simple resource, but every choice matters — spend them poorly and you leave room for your opponent.
Mathematically, one of you is the Dweeb. Find out who in ten minutes.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Who wants to be the Cool Guy?
Decide who plays Peppermint Butler and who plays Magic Man. The decks are already sorted, and the rules can be read in five minutes. Four empty lanes await the first creatures on the field. The Land of Ooo has no mercy for those who hesitate.
The first creatures enter the field
Two Action Points per turn — not many, but enough to start building your strategy. A creature in the left lane, a Landscape empowering it on the right. Your opponent watches your moves and is already calculating how to destroy you.
The first FLOOP changes everything
A creature activates its FLOOP ability. Something turns upside down: an attack canceled, a card stolen from hand, a chain effect no one expected. You look at each other. You laugh, or you curse. Usually both.
Life Points begin to drop
When a lane is clear, the attack goes direct — no creature to block, nowhere to hide. 25 Life Points seemed like a lot at first. Now they don't. Every card is played with more care. The end is near.
Someone is the Cool Guy. The other is the Dweeb.
A final attack, an open lane, 0 Life Points. The game is over. The Cool Guy cheers. The Dweeb already wants a rematch. Decks are reshuffled in thirty seconds and it starts again — because it's inevitable.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Two Action Points per turn. You learn it in five minutes, master it in two games.
At the start of your turn, you draw a card from your deck. Your hand grows — but your choices are still limited to two Action Points. What's more valuable to play now?
Each card has an AP cost between 0 and 2. Summon a Creature to a lane, place a Landscape, cast a Spell — or mix and match within your limit.
Creatures with FLOOP abilities can activate them before attacking. A Landscape or Spell can enhance the effect. Plan carefully — sequence matters.
Each Creature attacks along its lane. If it finds an opponent, it fights them. If the lane is empty, the damage goes directly to the player's Life Points. At 0, you're the Dweeb.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Four independent lanes
There's no single front. Each lane is a separate battlefield — you can dominate three lanes and lose the fourth, and that's enough to lose the game.
Unique FLOOP abilities
Every Creature with FLOOP has a special ability activatable before combat. You don't just suffer effects — you choose when and how to use them, with immediate consequences on the board.
Landscapes that shape the lanes
LavaFlats, NiceLands, SandyLands, UselessSwamp — each Landscape empowers certain types of Creatures. Building the right lane is half the victory.
Only 2 Action Points per turn
A strict limit that makes every choice significant. You can't do everything in one turn — and this tension between options is where games are truly won and lost.
Decks mixable between sets
Cards from all Adventure Time Card Wars sets are compatible. Mix Peppermint Butler with Finn, Magic Man with Jake — every combo completely changes the game.
Faithful to the original series
Original artwork, recognizable characters, mechanics that replicate the episode. It's not a superficial license — the game is built around the Adventure Time universe.
How it ends
Cool Guy or Dweeb — there are no in-betweens
Two ways to lose, only one to win. The pressure is symmetrical — neither can afford to slow down.
Victory — Cool Guy
- Reduce your opponent's Life Points to 0
- Exploit open lanes for direct attacks
- Build synergies between Creatures, Landscapes, and Spells for the final push
Defeat — Dweeb
- Your 25 Life Points drop to 0 before your opponent's
- You fail to cover all four lanes and suffer direct attacks
- Immediate rematch — reshuffle the decks and start again
Adventure Time Card Wars: Peppermint Butler vs Magic Man is a fast-paced, thematic, and instantly replayable card game. For fans of the series and for those looking for a duel with no barrier to entry.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Adventure Time Card Wars
Is it really the game from the episode of the series?
Yes. Cryptozoic developed a real game directly inspired by the "Card Wars" episode of Adventure Time, with the same basic mechanics, characters, Landscapes, and creatures from the series. It's not just a superficial license — the game reflects what's seen on TV.
Does it work if I don't know Adventure Time?
Yes, the mechanics are self-contained and don't require knowledge of the series. That said, those who know the characters have twice as much fun — recognizing Peppermint Butler doing his "dark deeds" or Magic Man manipulating mana adds a layer of enjoyment that series newcomers won't immediately grasp.
Is it compatible with other Card Wars sets?
Yes, completely. All cards from the Adventure Time Card Wars line — including other Collector's Packs and expansions — are mixable. You can build custom decks by combining different sets to find new combos.
Is it suitable for children?
The recommended age is 10+, and the complexity level is low — rules can be explained in a few minutes. Children who are fans of the series will enjoy it greatly. Under 10, managing synergies between lanes and FLOOP might be a bit abstract without adult support.
Can more than two players play?
The base set only supports 1 vs 1 duels. For multiplayer games, you'll need to combine multiple sets and adapt the rules — there's no official 3+ player mode in the basic version. If you're looking for a board game for larger groups, Adventure Time Card Wars isn't the most suitable choice.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The cards have ability texts in English — necessary to read FLOOP effects and Spells. The basic rules are simple and visual, but a minimal knowledge of English helps to play best.
