FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Some play jungler, some return to base to shop, some die stupidly to minions on the first turn. Every game is another night of League of Legends — but this time you're pulling it out onto the table.
What it's about
League of Legends and DOTA2 — this time on the table
Onward is the spiritual successor to Skytear — the competitive card-driven board game that brings the MOBA experience off-screen. Designed by Skytear Games gathering feedback from over 10,000 players, it's a DOTA2 or League of Legends match compressed into a box.
Two teams, each with the goal of destroying the enemy Nexus. Lanes are guarded by defensive towers and automatically advancing minions. The jungle is hunting ground for earning gold and empowering your champions. The river in the center hides a colossal Outsider — taking it down can change the tide of the game.
Select your champions, build your lane strategy, coordinate attacks with your team. 16 champions from two asymmetrical factions in the base game: Liothan and Kurumo, with completely different playstyles.
From the game experience
There's no other game that recreates the MOBA feeling like this — the lane tension, the moment you decide to gank, the gold missing for that decisive item.
Onward's secret in one line
The moment enemy minions break through your lane while your team is in the jungle — that feeling of panic you know well if you've ever lost a base.

What you control in game
The pieces of every clash
16 Asymmetric Champions
Two complete factions: Liothan and Kurumo, each with unique mechanics. Select your roster before the game.
Towers and Nexus
Defensive structures that protect the base. Towers block advancement. The Nexus is the ultimate objective — when it falls, the game is over.
Advancing Minions
Weak but numerous units. They grow in strength the more they multiply and always advance towards the enemy Nexus, attacking anyone who stands in their way.
The Outsider in the river
A colossal monster in the center of the map. Defeating it yields decisive rewards — but entering the river is a calculated risk that can cost dearly.
That feeling when your lane breaks through and the minions advance — on the table, it's even more satisfying.

🧤 BUSTINE
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The draft: already here you win or lose
Before even placing a minion, teams choose their champions. Gulbjarn or Akimo? Miyuki or Astryda? Each choice responds to the opponent's. The table is still empty, but the game has already begun in the players' minds.
Lanes fill up, towers hold strong
Minions advance along the lanes. Defensive towers hold. Some try to push immediately, some go into the jungle to farm gold. The map begins to tell the story of the game — who is aggressive and who is waiting for the right moment.
The gank no one expected
A champion disappears from the top lane. Reappears at the bottom, where the opponent was sure to be safe. The gank succeeds, the tower falls, the game's balance shifts. The table explodes. Someone curses, someone laughs.
The Outsider in the river — risk or reward?
Both teams might attempt the Outsider. The reward is decisive — but the monster is dangerous, and the opponent is waiting. Do you go in? Do you wait? Do you try to steal the kill at the last moment? That moment of tension in the center of the map is the heart of the game.
The Nexus falls — or almost
Minions break through the last tower. The Nexus is defenseless. It only takes a few turns — or maybe not. Are there still enough champions standing to defend? The last lane holds. And then, in one turn, it's all over. The game is decided. Everything is packed back into the box, already talking about a rematch.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Four phases that replicate the logic of a MOBA session — quick to learn, deep to master.
Minions from both teams automatically advance along the lanes, attacking towers and enemy champions they encounter.
Each player activates their champions — they move across the map, play ability cards, attack, enter the jungle, or position themselves for the next gank.
Clashes are resolved with cards. Whoever defeats an opponent earns gold to buy upgrades — items that radically change the champion's abilities.
The state of the towers and Nexus is checked. If a base is exposed, minions can attack it directly. Whoever destroys the enemy Nexus wins the game.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
The true MOBA experience on the tabletop
Not a vague inspiration — a precise implementation of lanes, jungle, towers, minions, and Nexus. Those who have played DOTA2 or League will instantly recognize every mechanic.
Champions with asymmetric identities
Liothan and Kurumo have radically different styles. Each champion has unique abilities: no two can do the same things. The draft is already a game within the game.
2 or 3 lane maps
Two maps included with different configurations — the 2-lane map is fast and intense (45 min), the 3-lane map extends the game and opens up more strategic variables.
Gold system and item shop
Defeating opponents and towers generates gold. Gold buys items that empower champions. That game where you silently accumulated gold while everyone else fought — it works the same here.
Minions with a snowball effect
Minions are weak alone — but they grow in power as they multiply. A lane abandoned for too long becomes an unstoppable avalanche.
Replayability as a spiritual successor
Designed based on feedback from over 10,000 Skytear players. Combinations of champions, maps, and strategies ensure that no two games are ever the same.
How it ends
One objective, a thousand ways to get there
You don't play for points. Nothing is counted. You win by destroying the opponent's Nexus — everything else is strategy to get there before the other team does.
Victory
- Destroy the enemy Nexus with your champions or your minions
- Take down defensive towers to open the way to the enemy base
- Coordinate the push with your team before the opponent reorganizes
Defeat
- Your Nexus is destroyed by enemy champions or minions
- A lane abandoned for too long leaves room for an unstoppable advance
- No guaranteed comebacks — but there are games turned around at the last turn
Onward is the board game MOBA fans have been waiting for — not an approximation, but a faithful implementation that brings the tension of online PvP to the tabletop.
Frequently asked questions
Onward FAQ
Do I need to know League of Legends or DOTA2 to enjoy the game?
No — but if you do, you'll instantly appreciate every mechanic. Onward is designed to be accessible even to those who have never touched a MOBA: the rules are learned in one session, and the game's logic is learned by playing. Those who already know MOBAs have a mental advantage in strategic thinking, but the mechanics speak for themselves.
Does it work well with 2 players or is 2 vs 2 necessary?
It works in both configurations. In 1 vs 1, each player controls multiple champions, and the game is faster and more tactical. 2 vs 2 adds real coordination between teammates — who decides to gank, who holds the lane, who goes into the jungle. Both experiences are valid but very different.
How complicated is it to learn the rules?
The first game requires about 20-30 minutes of setup and explanations. The system is more articulated than a gateway game — there are champions with unique abilities, items to manage, minions, and towers. It's a game for experts, not a filler. After two games, the flow becomes natural.
What factions are included in the base game?
The base game includes 16 champions from the Liothan and Kurumo factions — 8 per faction. Liothan are shapeshifters who hunt in packs and transform; Kurumo are warriors who mark enemies to launch coordinated attacks. Other factions (Taulot and Nupten) are available through expansions.
Are there expansions?
Yes. Onward is expandable with new champion factions, new maps, and new items. Twisted, the new expansion, also introduces a solo and cooperative mode compatible with all existing content — for those who want to play alone or cooperatively against the game.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The rules require a good understanding of English for champion cards and items — it is not a language-independent game. If one does not master English, the experience will be penalized.
