The FroGames Card
Place a worker in the Fire Realm, buy a Dragon card, use it to evolve your champion, then discard it for gold and use that gold to challenge the Leviathan. All in the same turn. Then you look at your opponent and think: maybe I could have done better.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Five elemental realms, monsters to defeat, and a card engine that fires up turn after turn
Wild World is by the brothers Eilif and Åsmund Svensson, this time joined by Viljar Opdal Svensson. The trio represents Chilifox Games, a Norwegian publishing house founded by the brothers in 2020 with the aim of creating light-medium strategy games and family games. Art by Eirik Belaska. Announced for Essen 2026.
At the table, you build your clan across five elemental realms: Forest, Ocean, Fire, Frost, and Magic. Each turn you place workers to buy creatures, use them in four different ways (engine, travel, combat, gold), evolve champions, prepare potions, and face monsters that grant permanent abilities, immediate bonuses, and prestige points. Three rounds, chained combos, tactical freedom with every move.
What they say abroad
"Wild World is a dynamic 1–4 player strategy game that blends worker placement, multi-use cards, engine-building, and tactical monster combat into one seamless, combo-driven experience."
— Chilifox Games
This is an initial reading based on the official description and initial published information. No full reviews are available yet: we will update the card as soon as the game is in the hands of players.

Wild World
The game officially supports 1 player from the basic rules. We don't yet know if it uses an automa or a dedicated scoring system, but the Svensson designers have experience with robust solo modes (see Footprints). Engine building and monster combat work well solo; the competitive race component will need to be replaced.
Your elemental arsenal
Four ways to use each creature
Forest Creatures
Cards are not just for collecting: each creature can become a piece of your permanent engine, a resource to discard for gold, an ally in traveling between realms, or your weapon in combat. Four functions, one card.
Evolved Champions
Each clan starts with basic workers and can evolve its champions during the game. Evolved champions unlock more powerful actions, new card slots, and paths to the most dangerous monsters.
Potions and reagents
Potion brewing is a parallel system that fuels your moves: improve your alchemical ability to gain immediate bonuses and end-game scoring conditions.
Elemental Monsters
Five realms, five types of monsters. Defeating them gives you permanent abilities, new workers, prestige points, and unique scoring conditions. But you must reach them at the right time, with the right cards, and before others.
🎲How to playThe rules in four steps▼
How to play
The flow of each turn
Three rounds, one turn at a time: choose one of three main actions and trigger as many free actions as you want.
Before acting, you can: play cards from your hand to your engine, travel between realms for bonuses and prestige, discard cards for gold. No limits, sequencing well is the core of the game.
Place a worker in one of the five elemental realms, activate the realm's action (e.g., draw cards, get resources), and then buy a creature adjacent to that realm.
Challenge a monster using cards of the same element or exploiting elemental weaknesses. If you win: permanent ability, immediate bonus, scoring condition, eventually a new worker.
Move an already placed worker to another realm and let them rest (they become available again). Useful for freeing up slots or preparing for the next turn.
⏱️Your first gameThe chronicle, moment by moment▼
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Setup and first moves
Choose your clan, take three workers, look at the starting cards. Someone immediately heads for the Fire Realm, someone else explores the Ocean. The first creatures enter play and no one knows yet what engine to build.
The first monster falls
Someone has made the first leap: evolved a champion, accumulated cards of the same element, and challenged a monster. Now they have a permanent ability that others don't. The race has begun.
Engines compared
Mid-game, second round. Engines are revving up: one player travels between realms collecting prestige, another accumulates gold and potions, a third builds increasingly long card combos. Everyone follows a different path, but all watch who is ahead.
The last contested monster
Third round, high tension. One strong monster remains free and two players can challenge it. Whoever gets there first takes the ability and points, the other has to fall back. The choice of turn becomes crucial.
Final scoring
End of the third round. Prestige is counted from journeys between realms, completed potions, conditions of defeated monsters, and travels made. Someone discovers they underestimated a scoring condition. Victory is often closer than it seemed.
🐸Good to know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
Good to know beforehand
Three things to know before buying it
Initial learning curve present
Cards have four uses and free actions are unlimited: the first turn can be disorienting. After two or three practice rounds the system becomes fluid, but expect 15-20 minutes of ramp-up time.
Three rounds, few chances
Three total rounds mean that a timing error can cost you the game. There's no time to recover if you mess up champion evolution or arrive late for a key monster. Planning is mandatory.
1-4 player scaling to be verified
The game promises to work from 1 to 4 players, but without real playtests, we don't know how it scales. Generally, competitive worker placement games shine with 3-4 players, solo play depends on the quality of the automa (if any). We will update the description as soon as we have data.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
End of the third round: prestige points are counted from multiple sources. Whoever has the most wins.
Victory
- Prestige from journeys between realms (the more realms you visit, the more points)
- Prestige from defeated monsters and the scoring conditions they gave you
- Prestige from completed potions and end-game conditions
Fatal errors
- Building an engine too slowly: in three rounds you need to produce, you don't have time to develop
- Having key monsters stolen: if someone takes the monster your plan needed, you must have a plan B
- Underestimating journeys: prestige from visited realms counts, ignoring them cuts easy points
Wild World promises to be that kind of strategic game where each game you discover a new combo, but three rounds are unforgiving. If you like fast engines and dense tactical choices, keep an eye on it.

Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Wild World
What mechanics does Wild World use?
Worker placement (you place workers in the five realms), multi-use cards (each card has four different functions), engine building (you build your permanent engine) and tactical combat against monsters. Unlimited free actions create chains of moves.
Is it suitable for newcomers to the genre?
Its weight of 2.7 on BGG places it in the medium-light range, but multi-use cards and tactical freedom require some experience. It's not a pure gateway game: it's better to have already played some strategic game with hand management. After the initial curve, it should flow smoothly.
How long does a real game last?
BGG says 45-90 minutes. With three total rounds and free actions to sequence, the first game will easily exceed 90 minutes. For experienced players, with 3-4 players, expect 60-75 minutes once the mechanics are familiar.
Is the solo mode truly complete or just an add-on?
The game officially supports 1 player from the basic rules. We haven't yet seen how the system works (automa? scoring? challenges?), but designers Svensson have a solid track record with solo play. Engine building and monsters work well in solo, it remains to be seen how they replace competition.
