FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
You have thirty seconds to decide: attack, defend, or hit the panic button? The wrong monster dies anyway.
What it's about
A Mad Scientist's lab that fits into a mint tin
Choose one of four Mad Scientist identities. Combine two of the 24 monster cards to create your hybrid creature: head of one, body of another, powers of both. The combination determines battle stats — and activates a unique special power born from the fusion.
Then you play: roll the dice, lock the results you want, and at the moment of truth, choose your secret signal. Attack, defend, or hit the Panic Button? Each choice has its counter. If you defend against a Panic Button, your monster dies instantly. Bluffing matters as much as the dice.
The first to eliminate three opposing monsters wins. All in 15 minutes. All in a tin that fits in your pocket.
From table experience
The same monster pair never produces the same game — the "if-then" power changes everything based on how it combines.
The secret of Monster Mash-Up in one line
When both players reveal the signal at the same instant, every game has at least one moment where the table explodes.
From playing experience
Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up
Your arsenal
What you control in each game
The hybrid monster
Combine the front and back of two different creatures. Unique stats and an "if-then" special power that emerges from the fusion.
The secret signal
Attack, Defend, or Hit the Panic Button. Revealed simultaneously. The most violent rock-paper-scissors in a tiny tin.
The dice to lock
Roll, choose which to keep and which to re-roll. Energy allows you to boost your attack or recover strength. Every die you lock is a choice.
The Mad Scientist
When your first monster dies, the Mad Scientist transforms into the enhanced version — and the game restarts with a brand new advantage.
The wrong monster dies in the wrong round. But then you put it all back in your pocket — and challenge again.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
The lab is open
The 24 monster cards are on the table. Each player chooses their Mad Scientist and then builds their creature: they combine the front part of one monster with the back part of another. The special power born from the fusion is unique — and you can already see that the opponent is building something troublesome.
Dice roll, energy builds up
The first round: roll, choose which dice to lock, some energy points to spend. You already understand what kind of player the other is — aggressive or conservative? You calculate when you'll need to bluff. The pressure is already there even if no one has been hit yet.
The signal moment
Both hide their hand under the table. Three, two, one — the signal is shown. One attacks, the other defends. Damage is calculated, Arena level increases. But in the next turn, roles could be reversed. Or someone presses the Panic Button — and everything changes.
The first monster dies — and the Scientist transforms
A creature falls. But the Mad Scientist flips to their empowered side and the player now has an advantage in the next clash. Whoever lost the first monster is not out — they are angry. And an angry player who chooses the Panic Button at the wrong moment can turn everything around.
The third monster falls. Or perhaps it's yours.
Someone eliminates the opponent's third creature and wins. The other person has already opened the tin and is rebuilding a new monster. A rematch is not asked for — it's demanded. In two minutes, it starts again.
How to play
The flow of each round
Three very quick phases that repeat. You learn in five minutes, the first clash is already memorable.
Each player rolls their attack dice. You can lock the ones you want and reroll the others. Energy can be spent to add up to 5 extra attack points before the reveal.
Simultaneously, both reveal: Attack, Defend, or Panic Button. Defend reduces damage and recovers energy equal to the monster's intelligence. Panic Button forces a reroll — but if the opponent defends, your creature dies instantly.
The loser takes damage equal to the Arena level plus any special bonuses. The Arena scales each round — whoever survives a high Arena has won something brutal. A monster at 0 lives is eliminated.
When a creature dies, the player flips their Mad Scientist card to the empowered side. The advantage is real — and the next clash begins with a different balance.
Why it's different from the others
Six mechanics that make a difference
576 unique monsters possible
24 cards × 24 front-back combinations. Each fusion generates different stats and an "if-then" power born from the pair. No two creatures are alike.
The Panic Button that kills
Press Panic and force both to reroll. But if your opponent defends at that moment, your monster dies instantly. The most dangerous bluff in the game.
Energy to spend or save
Defending recovers energy equal to the monster's intelligence. Attacking spends it. Managing this cycle is the true depth of the game — while remaining very simple to explain.
The Mad Scientist transforms
When you lose the first creature, your scientist becomes empowered. Whoever is down is never definitively out — they have just changed strategy. Recovery is part of the design.
Fits in a mint tin
Literally pocket-sized. The complete game fits in a mint tin. Holidays, queues, lunch break, train — Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up doesn't need a dedicated table.
15 minutes, immediate rematch
A complete game lasts a quarter of an hour. Enough to create tension and a memorable moment — not enough to become tiring. A rematch is almost mandatory.
How it ends
One winner, no valid excuses
It doesn't matter how close you were — what matters are the three eliminated creatures. The game is direct and ruthless, exactly as a monster duel should be.
Victory
- Eliminate three opponent creatures before the opponent eliminates yours
- Each monster at zero lives counts as eliminated — no matter how you got there
- The empowered Mad Scientist does not change the victory condition — only the balance
Defeat
- All three of your creatures are eliminated
- Or you press the Panic Button while the opponent defends — instant death
- There are no second chances — but a rematch can be requested in less than two minutes
Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up is one of the most original pocket-sized games in recent years. A duel with real depth in a format that literally fits in your pocket.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up
Is it just luck with dice or is there real strategy?
There is real strategy, even if dice play a role. The choice of dice to lock, energy management, when to spend extra points, and especially the choice of the secret signal — all of this requires reading the opponent and planning. Dice add variance, but decisions make the difference in the long run.
Is the Panic Button too powerful?
No — it's balanced by risk. If you use the Panic Button and your opponent defends, your creature dies instantly. It's a double-edged sword that only works when you read the situation well. It usually becomes the most remembered moment of the game — for better or worse.
Does it only work well with 2 players?
Yes, it's a duel for two. It's not designed for larger groups — it's a pure head-to-head format, where every choice directly counts against a single opponent. Perfect for couples, friends, or to fill time with two people.
How many monster combinations are there really?
With 24 cards, each with interchangeable front and back, the number of possible combinations is extremely high — hundreds of different fusions. In practice, every game can start with a creature never seen before, which keeps the game fresh even after many sessions.
Is it suitable for children?
From 10 years and up, yes. The monster theme is very popular with kids and the rules are simple to explain. The secret signal bluff requires a minimum of reading the opponent, but it's nothing too complex. It's one of those games where children surprise adults.
Is it available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The rules are quick and visual — it's not necessary to know English to play, but keep in mind that card texts and the rulebook are in English.
Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up is a two-player duel board game (ages 10+, 15 min playtime). Main mechanic: dice management with simultaneous bluffing and hybrid monster building. Each player creates a unique creature by combining the front and back of two of the 24 available monster cards. The combat system is based on dice, energy, and secret signals revealed simultaneously — Attack, Defend, or Panic Button. The Panic Button, if correctly read by the opponent, causes the creature's instant death. Published by Eagle-Gryphon Games. Pocket-sized English tin edition. Available on FroGames.it.
