The FroGames Card
Your army takes a territory, but a rival launches a propaganda campaign that renders it useless. You respond by acquiring their mining company. They send troops. By the fourth round, no one remembers who started it.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Twelve nations fighting to control a fragmented world
Jonathan Klabunde and Lukas Peregrine have spent over a decade building Politik, Black Yeti Games' debut funded on Gamefound in June 2026. The world has emerged from the Great Collapse: old states are ash, new ones contend in three simultaneous arenas of power. Bauhaus art and brutalist architecture hand-drawn by Black Figure Studios adorn a system of over 500 unique cards and almost 1200 components.
Choose one of the 12 fictional nations, each with its own ideology, initial propaganda card, and variable powers. Conquer territories with troops, place companies to dominate markets, launch propaganda campaigns to overturn influences. Each nation builds an asymmetric tableau: cards are drawn randomly from the common deck, but your national powers decide which ones to keep and how to combine them. The winner is the one who manages to weave the three dimensions together without being crushed by the others.

Politik promises to be one of the best debuts from a new studio we've had the pleasure of trying. Keep it on your radar, you'll be hearing a lot about it.

The tools of power
Four types of cards that build your nation
Landscapes
The territories you conquer: they provide basic resources and strategic positions on the global map. Each nation starts with a different setup.
Propaganda
Ideological campaigns that overturn influences: your nation starts with a unique propaganda card that defines powers and ideological tendencies.
Companies
Brutalist corporations that dominate markets and generate resources. You can enhance them with assets to transform them into economic engines.
Events
Cards that disrupt balances or open tactical windows. Drawn randomly, they force you to adapt your plan.

How to play
The flow of each round
Politik alternates between tableau building phases and conflict resolution across three arenas.
Draw cards from the common deck. Decide what to keep based on your nation's powers and the tableau you are building.
Play cards to place troops on territories, launch propaganda campaigns, found companies, or play events. Order matters.
Resolve control over territories (military), regions (propaganda), and markets (corporate). Whoever dominates collects resources or advances towards victory.
Update your tableau, discard cards, prepare your hand for the next round. Balances continuously shift.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choosing your nation
Twelve nations, twelve ideologies. Read the descriptions: Libris balances radical education and unitary propaganda, Gran Santi intimidates, Indoverra has a culture of honor in contrast with a vow of poverty. The initial propaganda card tells you who you are. The choice matters.
First moves, first frictions
You place troops on a key territory. Another player launches a propaganda campaign that flips influence in the region. You respond by founding a mining company to cut their resources. You immediately understand that no arena is isolated.
The tableau takes shape
Cards drawn randomly from the common deck start to fit with your national powers. You build combos between companies and assets, reinforce propaganda with well-timed events. Others do the same. Complexity explodes.
War on three fronts
You militarily control half the map but your opponent dominates the markets and is buying propaganda influence. A third player is behind but has devastating event cards. No one truly knows who is winning. Everyone negotiates and threatens.
Global supremacy
Someone manages to coordinate the three arenas: troops, propaganda, and markets align. Others try to stop them but it's too late. Or a final event turns everything upside down. End of game: look at the table, it looks like a world war just ended.

Things to know beforehand
Three things you need to consider
Extremely variable duration
The box says 60-300 minutes. That's not a typo. With 2-3 experienced players you can finish in under two hours, but with 6 players in the first game, it easily reaches 4-5 hours. Plan accordingly.
Steep learning curve
Weight 3.75, three arenas to keep in mind, 450 different cards in the deck. The first game is tough: you have to learn the interactions between military, propaganda, and markets while others attack you. It's not a gateway game.
Strong asymmetry and randomized deck
The 12 nations have very different powers, and the deck is randomly drawn. This means that each game is different, but also that you might get an unlucky hand. National powers mitigate, but do not eliminate, variance.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The winner is the one who manages to coordinate dominance in at least two of the three arenas (military, propaganda, corporate) or who accumulates enough victory points.
Victory
- Majority control over territories and propagation of ideology
- Dominance of markets with companies empowered by assets
- Accumulation of victory points through specific national objectives
Defeat
- Falling behind in all three arenas simultaneously
- Building an incoherent tableau without card synergies
- Becoming diplomatically isolated and suffering coordinated attacks
Politik is an ambitious debut: three intertwined arenas, 12 asymmetric nations, 500+ unique cards. If you're looking for strategic complexity and aren't afraid of a 3.75 weight, this is your battlefield.

Politik FAQ
How complex is it really? Can I teach it to a new group?
Weight 3.75 on BGG, three arenas to keep in mind (military, propaganda, corporate), 450 cards in the deck. The first game is tough: plan for at least 30-40 minutes of explanation and a 4+ hour session. It's not suitable for absolute beginners. If the group has experience with heavy euros or wargames, they can handle it.
How does it scale with different player counts?
Designed for 2-6 players. With 2-3 players it's more tactical and faster (90-120 minutes once learned), with 5-6 players negotiation and chaos explode but the duration lengthens considerably. Punchboard recommends 3 experienced players for 3 hours of comfort.
Are the 12 nations really different or is it cosmetic?
Each nation starts with a unique propaganda card that defines its powers and ideological tendencies. They are not just different colors: Libris focuses on education/propaganda, Gran Santi on intimidation, Indoverra on honor/poverty. The powers impact which cards to keep from the common deck.
What mechanics does Politik use?
Area majority / influence (territory and region control), card play conflict resolution (resolve conflicts by playing cards), hand management (manage hand drawn from common deck), market (companies and markets), variable player powers (12 asymmetric nations). Tableau building with high direct interaction.
Is it available in Italian?
No. The edition sold on FroGames is in English, published by Black Yeti Games. There is also a Spanish edition from Salt & Pepper Games. Currently, there are no official or verified fan-made Italian translations.
