To bring Mechs vs. Minions back to a shelf-friendly format, the Bandle City Edition replaced the pre-painted mechs with double-sided acrylic standees and the minion miniatures with cardboard tokens. A sensible choice — but anyone who saw the 2016 box knows what's missing from the table.
This unpainted miniatures set does exactly that: it puts the four Yordle mechs and the horde of minions back on the board, in plastic. Not a single rule changes. Only what you see while you play changes — and how much it hurts to lose a mech you painted yourself.
The miniatures arrive unpainted. It's not a compromise: it's half the product. Those who bought Mechs vs. Minions in 2016 often found themselves repainting even the already colored miniatures, because those sculpts lend themselves to it — four minion shapes easy to batch paint, four mechs full of details worth taking your time with.

Four mechs, a horde, zero colors
The set brings to plastic what the Bandle City Edition renders in acrylic and cardboard.
The four Yordle mechs
Corki, Tristana, Heimerdinger, and Ziggs. In the base box, they are acrylic standees: here they return to occupy the space with true volume.
The minion horde
In the 2016 edition, there were a hundred miniatures across four different sculpts. It's the kind of job you paint in batches, in series, in front of a TV show.
Unpainted, therefore yours
No imposed coloring. You can stay true to the League of Legends artwork or invent your own scheme — no one at the table can tell you it's wrong.
The kit you have to put together
Spray or brush primer, three or four basic acrylics, a dark wash, and a final matte varnish. Less than it seems, really.
The minion you painted badly on the second mission will remain on the board for the entire campaign. And you'll all love it.

It makes sense if you already have the Bandle City Edition and miss the scenic presence of the original; if you already paint miniatures and are looking for a long but easy project; if you like the idea of having a table that no one else has exactly like yours.
It doesn't make sense if you are looking for ready-to-use miniatures: here there isn't a single color applied, and grey miniatures on the board are less distinguishable than printed standees. It also doesn't make sense if you needed the game: this is an accessory, the game must be bought separately.
From a gameplay perspective, nothing changes. Rules, missions, times, and difficulty remain identical. This set is pure aesthetic pleasure — which is a perfectly valid reason in board games.
🖌️How to start if you've never painted beforeFive steps, no talent required
- Wash and dry. Warm water and a drop of dish soap remove molding residue. If you skip this step, the paint will flake off.
- Prime. Grey or black, spray or brush-on. This step makes the difference between a durable job and one that scratches at the first game.
- Base colors. Three or four flat tints per miniature, without shading. For minions, this is really enough for a clean result.
- A dark wash. A pass of diluted paint that flows into the crevices and outlines all the details by itself. It's the trick that makes you look good.
- Matte varnish. Seals the work and removes the plastic's shine. From here on, the miniatures will survive dozens of games.
Workshop tip: start with the minions, not the mechs. There are many of them, they are similar, and they will get you to the first mech with an already trained hand.
