FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Someone grumbles because the dam collapses. Someone laughs because they stole the perfect tile. And in the end, no one remembers who won, but everyone remembers the crooked beaver on top of the pile.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
A community of beavers builds the perfect dam
Bivì is a strategic family puzzle game set along a stream surrounded by forests. Artwork by Christian Giove and Stefano Tartarotti brings to life a community of beaver engineers, busy transforming timber and stone into stable and efficient dams. Each game is different thanks to modular boards and variable objectives.
At the table, you choose colorful polyomino tiles, place them on your river section, and stack them to create three-dimensional structures. Each tile has a different shape and color: you need to optimize space, achieve set collection goals, and maintain the physical stability of your dam. Immediate rules, hidden depth, very high replayability.
What they say abroad
A puzzle that grows vertically and rewards those who see three moves ahead.

Each game plays fast, but makes you want to try again immediately to beat your own record.

What you'll find in the box
Components designed to last
Polymino tiles
Different shapes, vibrant colors. Each tile combines with others to create bridges, towers, impossible architectures. Thick cardboard, easy for even the smallest hands to manage.
Modular river boards
Each game changes setup: choose from different boards, each section has unique constraints and bonuses. The dam is never the same.
Objective cards
Set collection, placement patterns, final bonuses. Drawn randomly at the start of the game, they create different directions every time.
Beaver tokens
Carefully illustrated characters, used to track scores and mark your position on the common board. Details that make a difference.
Between one tile and another, you realize you're building something you hadn't planned. And it still works.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Everyone starts equal
An empty board in front of you, three secret objectives in hand. You look at the available tiles and make your first spatial reasoning: does that L-shape fit my plan, or should I take the straight one to block my opponent? Outward calm, but you're already planning three turns ahead.
The first stack takes shape
You've placed three tiles and are now stacking the fourth on top of them. You need a steady hand: if it collapses, you lose points. The table goes quiet as you balance the piece. Someone laughs when you succeed. Someone groans if their dam wobbles.
The good tiles disappear
Mid-game, every tile counts. That long green one you needed? Your opponent took it a moment before. Now you have to adapt: you change strategy on the fly, look for an alternative color or another shape that completes your secret objective. Plan B becomes Plan A.
Someone risks it all
A player attempts the impossible tower: four stacked tiles, precarious balance, but if it holds, it's worth double points. Everyone watches. The hand trembles. The tile settles. Ironic applause. This is the game: dare or play it safe.
Final count and surprises
You reveal the secret objectives. Someone who seemed behind takes home 15 bonus points for completing a perfect color set. The highest dam doesn't necessarily win: the winner is whoever optimized space, stability, and objectives together. Someone immediately asks for a rematch.
How to play
The flow of each round
Bivì proceeds in quick turns: choose a tile, place it, earn bonuses if you complete patterns. No complex phases, everything revolves in 3-4 minutes per player.
Open draft: you see all available tiles, you choose one. Shape and color determine where you can place it and which objectives you can complete.
Respect the river constraints (some areas have color or shape restrictions). You can place tiles flat or stack them on top of already placed ones to earn extra points.
If the tile falls, you lose points. If you complete a pattern required by an objective, you immediately score the bonus. Some objectives are only worth points at the end of the game.
The next player draws or chooses from the reserve. The game proceeds quickly until the last tile: at that point, everything is counted, and it's revealed who built the most efficient dam.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Three-dimensional polyominoes
It's not just placement: you stack tiles vertically to build complex architectures. Physics becomes part of the game: if it collapses, you pay the consequences. A puzzle that grows upwards, not just horizontally.
Variable objectives
Each game draws different objectives: color sets, geometric patterns, specific positions on the board. This completely changes the optimal strategy. You replay ten times and each time you look for a different path.
Modular setup
Interchangeable river boards and multiple configurations ensure that no two games are identical. Some sectors reward height, others horizontal coverage, and still others prohibit certain colors.
Transparent draft
You always see which tiles are available. You can steal the perfect one from your opponent or block them by taking the shape they needed. Indirect but concrete interaction, without direct conflict: perfect for families.
Risk/safety balance
Each turn you choose: build flat (safe but fewer points) or stack vertically (risky but high bonuses)? The physical stability of the dam is a game mechanic, not just aesthetic. Those who dare too much lose pieces.
Speed without superficiality
A game lasts a clear 20 minutes, but the depth is hidden: you need to plan three moves ahead to maximize objectives and coverage. Ideal for playing two consecutive games or as a smart filler between longer games.
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
The winner is whoever built the most efficient dam by summing points from coverage, height, completed objectives, and final bonuses.
Victory
- Optimize board space: each covered cell is worth points, covering difficult areas is worth more
- Complete secret objectives: color sets, geometric patterns, specific positions give heavy bonuses at the end of the game
- Build vertically: stacking tiles guarantees extra points, but only if the structure holds until the final count
Point loss
- Tile collapse: if a stack falls during placement, you lose points proportional to the height
- Ignoring objectives: focusing only on coverage without looking at secret bonuses leads to low scores
- Wasting rare tiles: taking tiles that don't serve your objectives just to block others is a risky tactic, leaving you with gaps in your dam
Bivì is a family game that rewards planning without requiring hours of commitment. Perfect for families, accessible to children, challenging for those seeking optimization.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ about Bivì
Is it suitable for 7-year-olds or does an adult need to explain the rules?
The basic rules (choose tile, place it, earn points) are immediate even for 7-year-olds. Secret objectives require a minimum of planning, but an adult can help in the first few games without ruining the experience. After two rounds, they play on their own.
How long does a game really last? Are the 20 minutes realistic?
Yes. With players who know the rules, a game concludes in a clear 15-20 minutes. The first game might extend to 30 minutes for explanations and familiarization with objectives. Ideal for playing two or three games in a row.
Is it a competitive or more relaxed game? Can it be played without conflict?
Interaction is indirect: you can steal tiles from the common reserve, but you don't directly attack other players' dams. Relaxed atmosphere, suitable for families seeking strategic challenge without aggression. Perfect for those who enjoy Azul or Kingdomino.
Does it really require manual skill or is it just marketing? What happens if a stack collapses?
Physical stability is a real mechanic: if you stack poorly and the tile falls during your turn, you lose points based on the height of the collapsed tower. Surgical precision isn't needed, but you must assess the risk. Younger children might prefer to build flat.
Is this edition in Italian?
Yes, this GateOnGames edition is entirely in Italian: rulebook, objective cards, and board references. Language independence is high anyway: once the rules are learned, you play without reading texts.
