WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Erune's first expansion brings darkness to the dungeons
Light & Darkness is the largest expansion for Erune, the hybrid dungeon crawler by Louis Clerc and Quentin Deleau published by Arkada Studio. Funded on Kickstarter in 2023, it introduces a new 6-quest campaign, 2 new adventurers, and mechanics such as crafting, alchemy, scourge cards, and pre-quests where choices shape each scenario. Requires the Erune - Adventure base game to play.
At the table, you move on modular dungeon tiles, roll custom dice, consult the voice app that acts as narrator. Before each quest, you answer questions: your choices modify scenarios, enemies present, and available allies. During exploration, you gather resources, craft weapons, prepare potions, and face the Shadow Master. The app remembers everything, evolving characters and the campaign game after game.

Just released game, little independent data available. This board is based on the official presentation and the BGG description. We will update with international reviews as soon as they are available.

Erune: Light & Darkness
The game natively supports 1-5 players. In solo mode, you manage one adventurer (or more characters if you prefer), the app acts as narrator and master. It loses the shared decision-making aspect of the pre-quests, but the exploration and campaign work fully.
What's in the box
43 miniatures, 6 dungeon tiles, new mechanics
Crafting and Alchemy
Gather resources in dungeons, craft custom weapons, or prepare potions. Two new systems that transform loot from passive to active.
Narrative pre-quests
Before each mission, answer app questions. Your choices modify scenarios, present enemies, and available allies. The app remembers everything.
Monk and Huntress
Two new playable adventurers, each with a dedicated sheet, ability cards, and distinctive playstyle. 53 Monk/Huntress cards total.
Scourge Cards
A new type of card representing persistent threats or difficult conditions. They integrate into the campaign and change dungeon dynamics.

The flow of each round
Each turn follows a simple structure: the app sets the pace, you react and explore.
Move your adventurer on the grid. The app announces events if you enter new rooms, activate traps, or encounter enemies.
Attack, collect resources, interact with furniture (forge, alchemy) or characters. Play skill cards from your hand and roll custom dice.
The app manages enemies: it declares what they do, where they move, how much damage they inflict. You mark wounds and conditions on the sheet.
Draw cards, update trackers, the app advances the quest timer. When the timer expires or you complete the objective, the quest ends.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choices before the dungeon
The app asks: have you explored the village? Did you talk to the blacksmith? Did you choose the forest path or the river? Answer together. The app records every answer. You don't know yet what will change, but it will.
Consequences appear
Enter the dungeon. The tile reveals a room with an unexpected ally: the blacksmith you helped is waiting for you. If you had answered differently, he would have been an enemy. The first time this happens, the table looks surprised.
Gathering and managing
Explore, fight, gather resources. Return to base between quests: decide whether to forge a powerful weapon or prepare potions. Resources are never enough for everything. Someone will have to go without.
The dice decide, but not everything
Boss fight. You roll custom dice, bad faces come up. But you have that sword forged three quests ago: it changes the dice faces. You survive for one symbol. The table cheers or curses, depending on the next roll.
End of campaign, different stories
Victory or defeat, you close the campaign. The app recaps your choices: allies saved, villages betrayed, items forged. You realize your friend played a completely different campaign. Same six quests.
🐸To know beforehandThree honest things, from friends▼
To know beforehand
Three honest things
It's not standalone. You must own Erune - Adventure to play. The initial investment is significant: two boxes, mandatory app, table space for everything.
You can't play without a tablet. The app handles narration, enemies, events, and progress. If the app has bugs or the tablet runs out of battery, the game stops. You need a stable connection and a compatible device (iOS/Android).
Six quests, 60-120 minutes each. The campaign requires 6-12 total hours and works best with a consistent group. If someone misses sessions, they lose narrative choices and story coherence.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Each quest has specific objectives dictated by the app. Victory and defeat change the course of the campaign.
Victory
- Complete the quest objective (e.g., defeat the boss, reach the final room, save the ally) before the timer
- Everyone survives: no adventurer reduced to 0 hit points when the quest ends
- Accumulate resources, allies, equipment that influence subsequent campaign quests
Defeat
- All adventurers fall (0 HP) before completing the objective
- The quest timer expires and the objective has not been met
- The app declares failure due to specific scenario conditions (e.g., ally killed, artifact destroyed)
A dungeon crawler where words matter as much as dice. And where your friend's campaign will never be identical to yours.
