FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Someone draws the druid, someone pulls out a fish, someone drinks the potion at the wrong time. In the end, everyone remembers that time Asterix won with a wild boar.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Boar hunts, potions, and sesterces in Gaul's most irreducible village
Designed by François Rouzé and Jean-Marc Tribet and published in Italian by Pendragon Game Studio, Asterix & Co. brings the universe created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo to the tabletop. Each player embodies one of the iconic characters from the series — Gauls, Romans, pirates — each with unique abilities that reflect the comic's character. The goal is simple: win battles, accumulate 50 sesterces before the others, and prove who really rules Gaul.
On your turn, you play character cards to attack, defend, or unlock special powers. Magic potions turn battles around, fish fly (literally), and strategies intertwine in a rapid flow where every choice matters. It's not just luck: knowing when to hold a card or when to deliver the decisive blow makes the difference between glory and defeat.

Your arsenal
Cards, characters, and potions that make a difference
Character Cards
Each character has unique abilities: Asterix is agile, Obelix is brute force, the Romans are numerous but fragile. Choose when to play them and change the outcome of the battle.
Magic Potions
Druid Getafix's potion can turn impossible battles around. Perfect timing wins; wrong timing wastes the most powerful joker in the deck.
Flying Fish
Yes, you throw fish at your opponents' faces. It's canonical, it's ridiculous, and it works: a disruptive mechanic that's as funny as it is effective.
Sesterces
Win battles, collect coins. Reach 50 and end the game. Simple, clear, and everyone always knows where they stand in the race.

In half an hour you'll have thrown a fish in someone's face and laughed at a potion drunk at the wrong time. It always happens with Asterix.
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Everyone draws and laughs
Deal the characters, everyone discovers their abilities. Some have Asterix and feel invincible, others have the Romans and are already complaining. The first cards are played to understand how the conflict works. Light atmosphere, no one knows who will win yet.
The first potion changes everything
Someone was about to win an easy battle, then the magic potion arrives and the table explodes. Laughter, protests, someone swearing revenge. From this moment on, everyone keeps an eye on who still has potions in hand.
Sesterces accumulate
The race gets serious: someone is at 30, someone at 20, someone still behind. Battles become more tactical, players start playing to block the leader instead of winning their own sesterces. Clashes become targeted.
Fish in the face
The moment everyone will remember happens: the flying fish that ruins someone's perfect plan. Maybe you were about to close the game, then the fishy slap arrives and everything reopens. Laughter, (mild) curses, memes being born.
50 sesterces and game end
Someone reaches 50, the game ends. Some celebrate, some dispute the last move, some immediately ask for a rematch. The cards go back into the deck, the sesterces reset, and someone is already choosing another character for the next game.
How to play
The flow of each round
Each turn is a simple cycle: play cards, resolve battles, collect sesterces. Fast, clear, with no downtime.
Choose a card from your hand and place it to attack an opponent or defend yourself. Each character has strength values and special abilities that activate under specific conditions.
Compare the values of the cards. The one with the higher strength wins the battle. But beware: potions, fish, and special abilities can overturn everything at the last moment.
If you win, take sesterces from the common reserve. Each victory brings you closer to the 50 points needed to end the game.
Refill your hand up to the allowed limit. The turn passes to the next player. Start the next battle immediately.
Why it's different from others
Six mechanics that make a difference
Asymmetrical characters
Each character from the Asterix universe has unique abilities. Asterix is fast and versatile, Obelix smashes everything, pirates are unpredictable, Romans are strong in groups. Change character, change strategy. It's not a reskin: abilities truly change the way you play.
Magic potions that turn the tide
The druid's potion is not a generic +1. It's a total game-changer: it saves you from certain defeats or turns a narrow victory into absolute dominance. But you have few, and using them badly means wasting the strongest weapon in your deck.
Fish as disruptive weapons
Yes, it really works. Fish are not just a joke: they are cards that nullify powers, block abilities, ruin plans. Canonical in the comic, effective at the table, ridiculous enough.
Fast pace with no downtime
No complex phases, no waiting. Play a card, resolve, pass. 35 minutes of gameplay where everyone stays involved. Perfect for tables with children or for those who want a thematic filler that doesn't drag on.
Transparent win condition
No final calculations, no end-game surprises. 50 sesterces and you win. Everyone always knows where the race stands, who is winning, who needs to catch up. Zero ambiguity, maximum tension in the final turns.
License used well
It's not a theme slapped onto generic mechanics. Each character behaves as in the comic, interactions respect the tone of the series, and the most absurd mechanics (like the fish) are taken directly from the panels of Goscinny and Uderzo. Fan service that also works for those who don't know Asterix well.
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Asterix & Co. has a clear and immediate win condition. No calculations, no final surprises.
Victory
- Be the first player to reach 50 sesterces
- Win enough battles to accumulate coins faster than others
- Use potions and abilities at the right time to finish before someone blocks you
How to lose
- Waste potions too early and be defenseless in the final clashes
- Play too passively and let another player accumulate sesterces undisturbed
- Underestimate the fish and get a disruption that ruins your decisive move
A party game that brings Asterix to the table without betraying him. Fast, thematic, with enough asymmetry to replay. Works with families, works with children, also works as a filler among adults.
Frequently asked questions
FAQ about Asterix & Co.
Is it suitable for those who don't know Asterix?
Yes. The mechanics work even without knowing the comic: asymmetrical characters, card conflict, potions that turn the tide. But if you know Asterix, each card has that extra bit of fan service that makes you smile.
Does it work well with two players?
It works, but the game is best with three or four. With two, there's less multiple interaction and the possibility of ganging up on the leader. It's still playable, but less dynamic.
How important is luck?
It matters, but it doesn't dominate. The draw influences your options, but knowing when to play a potion or which opponent to attack makes a difference. You can lose due to bad luck, but the one who best manages their hand and timing wins.
Can children play it?
Absolutely. The recommended age is 8+ years, and it fits: immediate rules, cards with clear symbols, intuitive mechanics. Perfect for mixed adult-child tables. And fish in the face make everyone laugh.
Is it available in Italian?
Yes. This is the Italian edition published by Pendragon Game Studio: cards and manual are completely in Italian. No language barrier — open the box, read the rules in ten minutes, and play.
