FroGames — Moments You'll Remember
Take, but give back. Harvest, but plant. Every action leaves a mark — on the board and on those you play with.
What it's about
A forest to make live, not to exploit
In Forestry, you take charge of a portion of forest and become its guardian. It's not a game of extraction — it's a game of balance. Cut to fulfill contracts, replant to keep the forest alive, manage water because every decision today determines the forest of tomorrow.
Two workers, two logics. The logger moves on the circular board: he fells, replants, builds forest structures, regulates water flow. The manager works at the sawmill: he collects resources, signs contracts, upgrades shared buildings. You allocate action points between the two — and the game is decided by the choices you make each turn.
Forestry is the work of Michal Peichl (illustrator of Woodcraft and Galileo Galilei), illustrated by Michal Řezníček and published by Pink Troubadour. A modern, cerebral Eurogame, with very low luck — but with a theme that speaks to you.
The secret of Forestry in two lines
You don't win by accumulating. You win by optimizing — and giving back. The forest you exploit thoughtlessly stops giving you what you need.
The heart of the game
Three action points per turn, ten rounds in total. Every move counts. The pleasure is looking back and saying: I solved that round.
From the gaming experience
Forestry
Forestry plays beautifully solo. The optimization engine works even without opponents — the tension comes from the ticking clock and the forest itself. Many prefer to play it solo.
What you control in each game
Your tools in the forest
The logger
Moves on the circular board. Fells trees, replants, builds forest structures and regulates watercourses. He's your operational arm — every hex counts.
The sawmill manager
Reaches buildings on the perimeter. Collects resources, signs contracts, upgrades shared facilities. Thinks in terms of logistics and networking.
The star track
Every virtuous action moves you around the wheel. When it completes a round, it unlocks bonuses: points, resources, or a leap on the development track.
The contracts
Your agenda. They require specific wood, treated in specific ways (dried, impregnated, planed). Meeting deadlines is how you win the game.
At the end of the game, you look at the board and understand what kind of forester you've been. Forestry tells you better than any score table.
