📜 REGOLAMENTO
A game in five moments
What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Choose your hero. Study the market. Make your plan.
The cards are laid out, the monsters are waiting. Everyone stares at the board with an idea in mind. That big beast in the corner is worth a lot of fame — but your opponent on the right is also eyeing it. The game hasn't even started and your stomach is already tightening.
The first monster falls. And someone stole your ally.
You recruited two perfect allies, then the player on the left took the one you wanted. Plan B. You attack the monster with what you have, the combination works better than expected, fame starts to rise. Laughter already.
Someone challenges a legendary monster. Everyone turns.
There's a moment when someone draws from the legendary monster pile — those with huge health points, rule-changing abilities. The table falls silent. Will they succeed? The answer comes in a few moments, and whatever it is, that moment will be talked about for the rest of the evening.
The completed contract that changes everything.
You were ten points behind. Then you complete that contract that no one had read carefully — and suddenly you jump ahead. The fame board suddenly becomes interesting for everyone. Priorities change. Allies are moved. The endgame approaches.
Someone passes 100. Everyone gets a final turn.
The finish line is near, everyone knows who's ahead, everyone tries to catch up or consolidate. The last turn is the most fiercely contested. Then fame is counted. Someone wins — but the conversation is already about the move in turn three. Everything is packed away, wondering when to play again.
How to play
The flow of each turn
Three phases for each player. You learn in twenty minutes, you refine game after game.
Empty market spaces are restocked with new allies, items, and contracts. You receive three action points — plus one for each moon space separating you from the leading player. The game rewards those who are behind.
Spend action points: buy allies and items from the market, attack monsters, complete contracts. You can also disrupt other players — politely, but with intent.
Each defeated monster moves your token along the fame track. Do you land on a skull space? You're about to encounter a legendary monster in the next turn. Choose carefully where to stop.
Each monster has health points, resistances, and weaknesses. You can choose to draw from the random pile — greater risk, greater fame. This is where the game is won and lost.
Why it's different from others
Six things that make a difference
Illustrations unlike anything else
Owen Davey is a designer and illustrator. Every card — hero, monster, item — is a unique work in a high-contrast geometric style unprecedented in tabletop fantasy.
Push your luck with real consequences
You can attack safe monsters and gain fame predictably, or risk it with legendary ones. The choice is always yours — and the consequences arrive immediately.
Market that changes every turn
Available allies and items continuously rotate. Last turn's plan often no longer works — and adapting in time is half the game.
Ever-new card combos
Each ally interacts differently with items and the chosen attack type. Discovering unexpected synergies — especially when they work — is the most satisfying moment of the game.
Solo as a separate game
The solo mode is not an afterthought — it's a different game, with six locations to explore and a completely separate objective. Solo players don't miss the multiplayer experience.
Catch-up integrated into the design
Those who are behind receive more action points in the Dawn phase. The game doesn't abandon those who are trailing — it keeps everyone in the game until the last turn, and the ending is often more fiercely contested than the beginning.
How it ends
Victory and defeat
The finish line is triggered when a player exceeds 100 fame points. From that moment, everyone still has one turn to catch up — or to consolidate.
Victory
- Exceed the fame threshold and have more points than everyone else at the end of the last round
- Complete more legendary contracts than opponents for the final bonus
- Whoever defeats the most legendary monsters in the game gains additional fame
Defeat
- Opponents advance faster and you can't close the gap
- A legendary monster absorbs too many resources and you are left without useful allies
- Don't worry — the final round keeps everyone in the game until the very end
Fame & Fable is one of the most original fantasy releases in recent years — for its art, its design, and the stories it generates at the table.
Frequently asked questions
Fame & Fable FAQ
How does it differ from other competitive fantasy games?
The contested shared market, the push your luck on legendary monsters, and the integrated catch-up mechanism create a dynamic that classic fantasy combat games don't have. You don't build a deck at home — you build your hand at the table, in real-time, while others do the same.
Is there also a Deluxe Edition — what changes?
The Deluxe includes the Legends expansion, the recessed double-layered board, and premium wooden tokens. The base game is complete and standalone — the Deluxe is for those who want Fame & Fable in its most polished form right from the first opening.
Is it suitable for those without experience in board games?
Yes, with a small caveat. The rules can be explained in about twenty minutes, and the turn structure is very intuitive. Those coming from card games like Pokémon or Magic will feel comfortable right away. Those playing their first board game will need the first game to get oriented.
Does it work well with two players?
Yes, but the tone changes. With two players, it's more tactical and direct — every opponent's move is immediately visible. With three or four players, the market becomes more contested and the chaos pleasantly increases. Both configurations work, but the game was primarily designed for groups.
Are there expansions for Fame & Fable?
Yes — the Legends expansion adds new, more powerful monsters, new allies, and additional modes. It is sold separately or included in the Deluxe Edition. The base game is already complete and standalone — the expansion is for those who want more challenge.
Is the game available in Italian?
This is the English edition. The cards have English text, but the mechanics are very visual and intuitive — the English needed to play is simple and contextual. Please note that ally and monster cards have text to read during the game.

“Fame as a resource and a curse”
At the heart of Fame & Fable is its dynamic progression system: the more fame you accumulate, the more opportunities you get — but the more you become a target for other players. Every action is a race between risk and reward: completing quests, summoning powers, and choosing the right allies can propel you forward or leave you behind, swept away by the myth of others.
It's not enough to fight: you need to know how to manage your own destiny, decide when to sacrifice the hero and when to let the legend speak for itself. It's a dance between ambition and memory, where the true victory is being remembered.
