A civilian in danger, Omni-Man about to crash, the school exploding, and you have to choose: risk crashing to save everyone or play it safe and lose someone?
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Being a young superhero is complicated. Much more than flying.
Based on the comics by Robert Kirkman and the series adapted by Amazon Video, Invincible: The Hero-Building Game puts you in the shoes of Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Robot and Invincible. Designed by Kevin Spak for Skybound Tabletop, the game follows key events from the first season of the series through a cooperative narrative campaign.
At the table, you build your hero game after game, drawing from a bag that represents your powers. Each turn you choose how many tokens to draw: the more you take, the stronger you are, but you risk a crash and losing everything. You have to balance saving civilians, incoming threats, and helping teammates, while villains and problems multiply each round.
What they say abroad

Invincible forces you to make real choices: save everyone or save yourself. And it makes you pay for both.

Invincible: The Hero-Building Game
The game supports solo play with the basic rules: you control a single hero against the same threats. The experience is complete and the tension of push-your-luck remains intact, but you lose cooperative coordination and the variety of multiple powers at the table.
Your powers (and your limits)
What's in your bag and what you risk
Hero bag
Your arsenal of powers grows game after game. Add new tokens, improve weak ones, customize your tableau. But inside there's also risk: crash tokens that knock you out.
Push-your-luck
Each turn you choose how many tokens to draw from the bag. The more you take, the more powers you activate. But if you draw too many crashes, you lose everything and the turn ends. Do you risk it or play it safe?
Threats and civilians
Threat cards accumulating on the board, civilians to save, villains attacking. New ones arrive every round. If you don't manage them in time, the game goes out of control.
Season 1 Campaign
Narrative scenarios that follow the events of the Amazon series. Each scenario has objectives, twists, and consequences that carry forward. Win or lose, the story continues.

How to play
The flow of each round
Each round is a race against time: you activate powers, face threats, then new ones arrive.
Decide how many tokens to draw. Each token activates a power on your tableau or gives you resources. But if you draw too many crash tokens, you lose everything and your turn ends. You can stop at any time.
You use the drawn tokens to activate abilities: attack threats, save civilians, help other heroes, build your tableau. Each hero has unique powers that combine in different ways.
Choose which threats to face with the power you've generated. Some require specific types of powers. If you leave them there, they will take effect at the end of the round.
New threat cards arrive, villains attack, still active threats deal damage. If you accumulate too many problems or lose too many civilians, the scenario can end badly. Then it starts again.

What happens at the table
Not the rules. The experience.
Setup and first powers
Choose your hero and draw the first tokens from the bag. Read the scenario: an attack on the city, civilians in danger, a villain about to arrive. The narrative tension starts immediately, even if the powers are still scarce.
First rescues (and first crashes)
You start drawing. Two tokens, three, four... one of you crashes and loses their turn just as a civilian was about to be saved. The others have to cover, the threats accumulate. You realize you need to coordinate better.
The villain enters the scene
The big threat of the scenario arrives. Power is needed, but no one wants to crash now. Someone risks everything, draws six tokens, manages not to crash and hits hard. The table cheers. Then three more threat cards arrive and the joy is short-lived.
The moment everything goes wrong
Two heroes crashed in the same round, threats everywhere, civilians about to die. Someone attempts a desperate rescue with only one token left in the bag. Draws a crash. The table groans. This is the scene you will remember.
Victory or defeat (and consequences)
Either you made it by a hair's breadth, saving the last civilian at the last minute, or the villain won and the city is destroyed. Read the narrative consequences of the scenario: they carry over into the campaign. Prepare for the next episode.

Three things you need to consider
Crashing really hurts
It's not an annoyance: it's devastating. Crashing means losing your entire turn just when it's needed most. It happens often, especially if you play aggressively. You have to accept that sometimes you'll lose everything due to an unlucky draw. If luck frustrates you easily, this game will make you angry.
Better if you know the series
The game works even without having seen Invincible, but you lose much of the emotional context. The scenarios follow the plot of Season 1: if you don't know who the characters are or what's happening, it becomes a sequence of generic missions. Fans of the series will experience it much more deeply.
Limited campaign
Replayability is all in the campaign: once finished, the game loses its appeal. You can replay scenarios with different heroes or try solo play, but it's not designed to be an infinite cooperative game like Arkham Horror or Spirit Island. It's a concentrated narrative experience.
🏆Victory and defeatWhat the ending rewards▼
How it ends
How to win and how to lose
Each scenario has specific objectives. Usually you have to save civilians, defeat the villain, or survive a certain number of rounds.
Victory
- Complete the scenario objective before time runs out or too many threats accumulate
- Save the minimum required number of civilians
- Defeat the main villain of the scenario (if present)
Defeat
- Too many civilians die and the scenario fails
- The threat deck runs out before you complete the objective
- All heroes crash in the same round and active threats cause an immediate defeat
Invincible is not a Eurogame disguised as a thematic one: it's a narrative cooperative game where the risk is real and choices come at a cost. If you want to relive the series at the table, it works.

FAQ about Invincible: The Hero-Building Game
What mechanics does Invincible: The Hero-Building Game use?
Bag-building (you build a bag of tokens representing your powers), push-your-luck (you decide how many tokens to draw, risking a crash), tableau-building (you improve your hero by adding abilities). It's pure cooperative with a narrative campaign of scenarios.
Does it work well solo?
Yes, the game supports solo play from the basic rules. You control one hero against the same threats. The tension of push-your-luck remains intact, but you lose the cooperative coordination and the variety of having multiple powers at the table. Complete but more limited experience.
Do I need to know the series to play?
No, but it is highly recommended. The scenarios follow the plot of Season 1 of Invincible on Amazon Video. If you don't know the characters, it becomes a sequence of generic missions. Fans will experience the game much more deeply.
How long is the campaign?
The campaign covers the key events of Season 1. Approximately 8-10 scenarios, each lasting 45-90 minutes depending on the number of players and complexity. Once finished, replayability decreases: the game is designed as a concentrated narrative experience, not an infinite cooperative one.
Is it available in Italian?
No, this edition is in English. Components: scenario cards, threat cards, tokens, rulebook, and hero tableaus are all in English. There are no official Italian translations.
